McClellan: Showing Symptoms of Huffingtonitis?

May 30, 2008 by GayPatriotWest

An individual afflicted with Huffingtonitis (named for one if the syndrome’s most prominent victims) “defines his political views and makes public statements in order to win social approval and/or acceptance.”

By his own admission, an outsider in the Bush White House and pretty much shunned by conservatives since he left (due, in large part, to his dismal performance as Press Secretary), Scott McClellan must certainly be seeking a place to belong. Now that he has been warmly embraced by Keith Olbermann, the angry left’s most prominent representative in cable TV, expect him to tilt even farther to the left so as to better fit in — and convince his new-found friends and admirers that he really is one of them.

It doesn’t matter to them that, if what he now professes to be true defines him as a coward and conscious collaborator with the “Bush regime,” what’s important it that he now toes the party line.  That way he can better find acceptance.

Basking in the adulation of Olbermann and his ilk, McClellan now knows what he needs do to find welcome in that crowd. Arianna, David Brock and Andrew Sullivan, you’ve got company!

Being on Olbermann says all you need to know.
If the dude was a public servant with class, he would
at least have picked the Charlie Rose Show.

Well, this is the problem when you bring along people like this to Washington. I mean, what a creep Mr. McClellan is! But, not a surprise. Look at his mommy, Carole Strayhorn. I wrote about her yesterday. She is a spineless, oppertunist as his Snotty Scotty. As I wrote, the apple does not fall far from the tree. And wait. When Snotty Scotty serves his purpose for his new friends, he will be thrown under the bus faster than Sen. McCain throws conservative supporters under his Straight Poop Express!

He may be basking in the lefty light right now, but that won’t last long. Brooks and Sullivan both know how to write – so they have found their place among the lefties – while still calling themselves conservative.
Arianna has a lot of money, so she buys her way in, and hires other people to write and opine for her.

McClellan was fired for being a bad press secretary- what does he have to offer? Even the lefties know that once a traitor, always a traitor. Sure he came over to their side, so now he’s a good traitor. But next time around he may turn on them.
Despite Obama trying to make McCain look like Bush III, it probably won’t work – so what else does McClellan have to bring to the table?

America decrys Benedict Arnold while in Britain, they do not remember who he was. I suspect that Scott McClellan will meet the same fate rather quickly.

    Good post. Linked.

#3 – Leah, you are right about Arianna. She’s a good example of what we Greeks call a “champagne socialist.” You know, the kind who says she’s with the common people, but has a maid to draw her bath.

Also, she is not as literate as she intimates. When she married Michael Huffington, she could barely speak English. And how much you want to bet that she is a “green-card bride?” I can bet you that she would no longer be welcome in Greece because she’d be viewed as a “turncoat.”

McClellan news today. Hot Air has links and is a good place to start.

    – Trent Duffy comes out swinging in the Washington Post: McClellan is a liar. Oh, the irony! (Just as Bush was McClellan’s boss, McClellan was Duffy’s. If McClellan is in any position to know about Bush, then so is Duffy about McClellan.)
    – Interesting-looking articles also from Robert Novak and Eli Lake.

yup, still laughing pretty heartily. didn’t take long for ms. huffington and mr. sullivan to be mentioned. When will you all get the idea that patriotism and loyalty to this country is not the same thing as showing loyalty to single person and his cronies?

What a hateful bunch you are. How quickly you turn on anyone who stops towing the party line. I’m so glad I left the GOP in 1990 and never looked back.

[Um, Houndentenor, do you even read this blog or just the titles of our posts? We have been criticizing McClellan while he was clumsily trying to defend what you call the party line. We’re not the ones turning on our one-time allies; it’s McClellan who’s doing the turning. One example. He had promised former White House co-workers to share a draft of his manuscript with them before publication so they could vet it, but failed to do so. –Dan]

Um, Kevin, if you actually read our posts rather than applied to us the standard you use to judge all conservatives, you’d realize that we don’t equate loyalty to one man as patriotism.

Where, oh, where did liberals get the idea that we so venerate Bush? Or call him Dear Leader? Could it be they drew the notion from their own psyches, given how eagerly these people revere his successor?
