“Compassionate Conservatism” Redux?

June 4, 2008 by Average Gay Joe

NTUF‘s third round of “costing out” the candidates’ platforms since January 29 found that Clinton would increase yearly federal spending by $289.6 billion, compared to Sen. Obama’s (D-IL) $343.9 billion — both significantly higher totals from the last update on March 3. NTUF also released an update for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), the presumptive Republican nominee, who would swell annual federal outlays by $68.5 billion — almost 10 times the amount he was backing in January.

Inside the Beltway Logic:  vote for McCain and he’ll “cut” $221.1 – $275.4 billion in new annual federal outlays! Swell.

But wait, it gets better:

NTUF’s latest analyses include cost calculations based on hard data for 363 proposals that would affect the federal budget — more than half of which have unknown fiscal effects.

So this is just a ‘best guess’ then and we’re about to repeat the whole MediCare Prescription Drug boondoggle that President Bush strong-armed the GOP into. Oh just lovely. Lord, save us from our politicians…

The difference, though, is that I could see Federal revenues growing annually by $68.5 billion or more per year, especially if we were to open up more oil leases and receive royalties.

Over $300 billion? Forget it. The fact that Obama and Clinton are promising that is a sign that Democrats are lying through their teeth on “pay as you go”.

But you and I both know that a Democrat-controlled Congress will never budge on oil. No, McCain on spending so far is only better in comparison to his opponent – or perhaps even to Dubya.

Well well. wonder how many Republicans will stick for Obama when they see he plans to spend more than even Hillary was. I am kinda confused on what programs of his are costing more, when she has manadated health care and he’s isn’t.

Considering he will have expanded majorities in Congress, that might just be the more conversative estimate.

I am kinda confused on what programs of his are costing more,

How about his pushing for “global poverty” bill which would add $845 billion on top of the $300 billion in aid we already ship overseas?

Amazing how our so-called leaders can always find “needs” that require more spending yet never, ever seem to find spending that’s no longer needed. More taxes to come.

And I just saw gas at $4.50 north of San Diego.
