#7 – Right on, Leah. Although I think that Luke has some talent that needs to be mined, putting him in his father’s chair on NBC will just show how incapable he is of filling his father’s shoes.

In fact, his first appearance on MSNBC was spent discussing legalized opium dens. Not exactly “Meet the Press” material. I’m sure Tim had a few words with Junior about that one.

I’m all for eliminating media dynasties, starting with Mika Brzyznski, Chris Wallace, Andrew Cuomo and Ivanka Trump. Don’t tell me any of those got their jobs by sheer talent; otherwise I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you.

I’m with Peter on this one, put Rush in that chair! That will make for interesting TV.

As for Luke, I wish him the best in world, but simply following in his fathers’ foot steps isn’t a good idea. Especially if he is handed his dads’ position on a platter. I”m glad he spoke well, but I never understood these dynasty things.

When John Kennedy junior died in that plane crash – I remember the agony on the left – now the Kennedys’ are really over, we won’t have our Camelot again. All I could think of was: what did John-John ever do in his life that made anyone think he could be a leader of any sort.

Let Luke find his own way in life, maybe nothing to do with journalism whatsoever.

I completely agree. I saw Luke Russert on the TODAY show yesterday. What a tribute to his Dad he is! I think Meet the Press would be well served putting him on for a few weeks/months until they decided what to do. Or could we bring Tom Brokaw back?????

Today I got to hear Russert being interviewed by Rush back in 2004 about a book he wrote about his father, for his son. Was a neat interview. I won’t try to relate any of the stories, but its pretty clear Russert was the man he was because of his dad — a child of the depression and a WWII vet. I don’t usually go in for that kind of book, but I’m going to give this one a look.

Welcome back, don’t apologize for taking a break from blogging to spend time with friends.
As to liberal bloggers being so angry. I know many warm loving kind liberals, but then are the others, the ones who project all their anger and disappointments on the rest of us. If you’ve been told your whole life thats’ its ‘ all about feelings, then why would they practice any form of self control.

Which explains why I read very few lefty blogs.
