Firsthand Account of Bush Derangement Syndrome
Given the fact that we had some news to report yesterday, I wanted to welcome any new readers that might be visiting GayPatriot.  You are welcome as long as you please wipe your feet at the door, and treat others as you wish to be treated.
I would also like to apologize for my near-AWOL status lately.  The ‘real job’ has consumed my work and spare time over the past few months. Work travel (always a pain) is at a high mark, and I’m also in kind of a “pre-Convention blues”. (Translation: I mostly don’t give a rat’s ass about the election at any given moment).
However, on a very recent business trip I experienced something that I wanted to share.  It was a full-blown case of “Bush Derangement Syndrome” played out during a business dinner.  Most all of the guests had left and one very well-educated man remained. I am confident in reporting that he is gay man and a (self-identified) liberal Democrat. He is very educated and, until the alcohol-induced outbreak of the BDS, I found him quite entertaining and a rather enjoyable business associate.
But then he let loose.  Among the things he said (somewhat paraphrasing): “Bush is evil.” “We don’t know the true mastermind of 9/11.” “It should be illegal for a successful oil company man to be Vice President.” “Republicans are evil.” “Republicans are stupid.” “Most of Americans are stupid.” “Most of the South are rednecks.” “Republicans don’t give a shit about people.”
I swear it was like the Daily Kos had come to life and was sitting across the table from me.
The ironic part of this whole diatribe was that in the middle of all of this, this well-educated liberal Democrat called the waiter (a fellow Latino) a “cocksucker” in Spanish.  I only found out about this insult later when the waiter told those of us hosting the dinner. Needless to say, I was mortified and apologized to the waiter who had worked his heart out during dinner service.
All this goes to show you that Liberals really are a case-study in “Do As I Say, Not As I Do.”

This is the money quote. Liberals really believe this and it is the justification for people like them to create and control a caretaker government.
BDS stems from their belief that the stupid American majority elected one of their own: a colossal mound of stupidity.
For liberals, big oil is a citadel of predators. Stupid Americans are addicted to burning their way through fossil fuels and mucking up the environment. They must be tamed and contained. The liberal elite use fossil fuels in their pursuit of managing the stupid Americans and creating and controlling the caretaker state. That is fine, because the ends justify the means when you are 100% right.
As for the Latino waiter, is it possible that he gave the impression of being an equal?

A homophobic gay liberal? I don’t believe it.
Comment by Julie the Jarhead — June 26, 2008 @ 8:59 am - June 26, 2008
Not all Liberals are like the one you mention. Please don’t generalize about us - and we won’t generalize about you. It’s when people generalize about things - that we forget about real people - who don’t conform to some stereotype. Let’s not generalize here.
Comment by Allen — June 26, 2008 @ 11:34 am - June 26, 2008
I also find it amusing that this liberal was commenting on the intelligence of most Americans via a gramatically-incorrect sentence.
And to heliotrope’s point, the key to hammering the Democrat Party is this simple observation; Republicans want to increase the amount of gasoline and oil available to voters, while Democrats want to punish and harm voters for using it, whether said voters have a choice or not.
The Republican answer is to provide you more to operate your business effectively. The Democrat answer is that you should cut your business and take less money.

Allen #3 -
Please give us some evidence to the contrary and I’d be happy to publish it.
The comment thread on the Log Cabin-McCain meeting certainly does NOT help your argument.

Wow, at last I found the website of the Free and the homepage of the Brave. Thank you so much for enlightening all of us hopeless liberals. If only we knew that the truth is always on the side of the Right, we could have saved SO much time. By the way, can you be any more smug?
I have yet to meet a Gay Conservative who is ever willing to admit that they might just possibly be wrong about something / anything. The irresponsible Right prefers to blame the Media for any failure of their policies. I think that the Bush Delusion Syndrome is a malady that infects the Right just as well as the Left. Just because Bush says it, doesn’t automatically make it true or a good idea. Thank God he’s gone one way or another in another 207 days.
Peace, my brothers and sisters!
By the way, can you be any more smug?

You don’t need a study to tell you that conservatives, on the whole, are nicer people than liberals. You only need to take one painful glance at DemocraticUnderground and the vitriol they spew at each other to see the amount of venom they’re capable of. Though I’ve read many spiteful conservatives as well.
Ah, bitterness and labels. Welcome to politics.
Comment by Jamie — June 26, 2008 @ 2:31 pm - June 26, 2008
While I believe that there are equal numbers of angels, humans, and a$$holes in all political beliefs, I apologize for that liberal hypocrite. Thoughout these 8 years, as a Liberal, I have been appalled and ashamed at the behavior my group has had. The only two words I can describe is “psycotic” and “infantile” While bashing W, we live in neighborhoods away from the very people we claim we care about, and blindly condemn a president for actually helping (at the cost of his legacy) a country in the throes of a govt that openly followed the Nazi govt.
We liberals need a serious rethink of who we are. If the wind is blowing right, we will have a straight flush of Democrats in the House, Senate, and 1600 PA Ave. The world is not going to stop being bad just because we’re there
Comment by Rachel — June 26, 2008 @ 2:51 pm - June 26, 2008
Don’t whine to us. Try bitching at the SOBs you have in your “leadership”, Democrat Underground, the KOSholes, George Soros, Barack Assama and the rest of the REAL hate-mongering bigots you have. They’re the ones that give you a bad name.
Well, it’s not up to you to do that, but it’s interesting that you’re ashamed of the liberal left.
Comment by ThatGayConservative — June 26, 2008 @ 2:59 pm - June 26, 2008
What I find ironic is all the deranged Bush-haters who referred to the President as ‘Dear Leader’ are now lining up behind a guy whose followers really do act like unthinking cultists.

“You are welcome as long as you please wipe your feet at the door, and treat others as you wish to be treated.”
This is a quote from the top of the post. I’m new here, so I naively thought I might find polite posters who are able to argue with passion, yet not be insulting. I see that I was wrong.
There are a lot of strong feelings on both sides of the aisle. Some posters here have pointed out Democrats or liberals that are apparently hateful or bigoted. It’s tough to be a passionate yet friendly liberal when one has to deal with the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, FOX News, O’Reilly, Dick Cheney, James Dobson, etc. on the other side spewing hatred and lies.
So, I would say don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house. Don’t judge all people by the example of one.
By the way, I love the tag line on your site. I’m not trying to be insulting, but it makes it sound as if there were only one gay conservative in America and from the several posters here, we can see that’s not true. Perhaps…the Internet home for American gay conservatives.

Allen: Just curious, did it escape your attention that the BDS sufferer whom Bruce wrote about was, if anything, *generalizing*? I find it interesting that your admonitions here target Bruce, with little or no hint of disapproving the other gentleman (the liberal).

#12 - I think it was ILC. The quote that need not be named originated with Andrew Sullivan.
I would say that “it came from Sullivan,” but that would be too rich.

Comment by jimmy — June 26, 2008 @ 8:05 pm - June 26, 2008
Well jimmy, let’s see. Between you, and the other gentleman… Bruce’s generalizations would be 2 for 2. OK for a start.
We could then add sean (lowercase), gil, keogh, Ian, markie, lester, arturo and countless others not worth remembering. That would make Bruce’s generalizations about 19 million for 19 million. Pretty good. Oh, I’m forgetting - you guys are mostly sockpuppets of one loser. So, you’re quite right. Not enough data points to generalize from.
Comment by ILoveCapitalism — June 26, 2008 @ 9:25 pm - June 26, 2008
Ironic but not surprising. I’ve known some obnoxious right-wingers but for spit-and-profanity laced rants, it’s hard to beat a lefty.
I’ve always been amazed at the numbers of people who are convinced that the lefties are on their side (which lends some credence to the stupidity assertion). California is run by lefties and the consequences fall disproportionately on those the left claims to champion.
Comment by Robert — June 26, 2008 @ 9:32 pm - June 26, 2008
In a way, the treatment of the waiter reminded me of an article I read comparing the charitable giving of Rush Limbaugh and Nancy Pelosi. Rush Limbaugh’s charitable giving was primarily aimed at “various individuals in need of assistance mainly due to family illnesses” ($109,716), “children’s case management organizations” ($52,898) and “Alzheimer’s community care” ($35,100). Nancy Pelosi’s “charitable” giving was the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art ($36,500) and San Francisco Symphony ($5,600).
Conservatives genuinely want to help people. Liberals only care about social status.
Comment by V the K — June 26, 2008 @ 10:51 pm - June 26, 2008
Peter M,
You thought Bruce’s post was smug? For smugness it was nothing compared to your comment.
I dare say Bruce would never feel the need to post such stories if left-wingers weren’t constantly telling the world how they are the intellectual and moral elite of the planet.
Comment by David — June 27, 2008 @ 12:23 am - June 27, 2008
The waiter part didn’t surprise me one bit, when I was working as a waitres, the most rude people talking about politics I served were people liberals, and the most generous were conservatives.
And, stories like this need to be told, maybe one day people will figure out that the left is full of prejudice asses, no pun intended.
Comment by BeLinda — June 27, 2008 @ 12:59 am - June 27, 2008

#20: Don’t forget that crypto-Nazi raj who was probably playing “Deutschland über alles” in an endless loop and used derogatory terms for Americans despite being born in this country and blathering about the superiority of German “culture”.
I used to believe in this leftist bullshit. And I was a real asshole about it, even to other leftists. I am now not only deeply ashamed of my beliefs but the way I expressed them.
Comment by Attmay — June 27, 2008 @ 6:45 am - June 27, 2008
In other words, you hoped that we would bend over, grab our ankles and accept whatever you said to be true.
It fascinates me how liberals feed you a steady stream of bullshit, but when you call them on it, they get all uppity and try the “can’t we all get along?” defense.
You should have no problem offering up some examples to justify your smear. right?
Comment by ThatGayConservative — June 27, 2008 @ 6:53 am - June 27, 2008
I would imagine that it’s tough to be a “passionate, yet friendly liberal” because you saw what happened to people like Lieberman and Miller. What’s more, House Majority Failure Pelosi and Senate Majority Failure Reid wouldn’t pay attention to you anymore.

Who are the apparent Democrats or liberals who are mentioned as hateful or bigoted in #31?
Why doesn’t one intelligently counter the charges of those mentioned in #32?

Well, I hope when it was at its height you said, “Oh, you mean people like me.” Then you would have seen the coward inspecting his shoes. This witless puke is exemplary but I say, let a thousand flowers bloom. Clinton was and is a stupid, evil man. Likewise Obama. Who could argue? Let them bark and bite and we do the same; it is in the sullen, silent resentment that they concoct their depredations. These buffoons feel the weight and stink of the blood of millions on their Commie mitts and believe it or not, in their black little hearts, it hurts.
