George Carlin – Saving The Planet

Dan and I both agree this is a fitting GayPatriot tribute to the passing of George Carlin.

We are so self-important…. everyone is going to “save” something. The greatest arrogance of all: “Save The Planet”!

<…>

I’m getting tired of that sh–. I’m tired of f–ing Earth Day. I’m tired of these self-righteous environmentalists; these white bourgeous liberals who think the only thing wrong with this country is that there aren’t enough bicycle paths. People trying to make the world safe for their Volvos.

Narrow, unenlightened self-interest doesn’t impress me. Besides, there is nothing wrong with the planet. The planet is fine. It’s the people that are f–ed.

Bravo, George! RIP

  1. I want that on a Bumper Sticker “Save the planet? The planet’s fine. It’s the people who are frakked.”

  2. Heard that on Rush yesterday. I’ve heard that before, but forgot all about it. Was going to dig for the vid to send to TGCpartner. Thanks for doing the work.

  3. Carlin was always ahead of his time. I remember seeing an old B&W episode of his first appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, where he imitated “Ed, the hippie dippy weatherman.”

    Priceless!

  4. Oh, that was one of my FAVORITE Carlin rants. Even as someone who believes in climate change, it sums it all up for me. I laugh every time I hear it. Especially when he asserts that maybe the answer to the age old question “why are we here?” is “plastic.” The earth needed palstic and couldn’t create it, so here we are to make it.

  7. #6 – Coincidence? I think not.

Today’s enviro-nitwits are “watermelons.” Green on the outside, red on the inside.

  8. Great website! George Carlin’s bombastic comments against the new “environmental religion” are just hilarious. We think we are so important and we are not.

  12. I too am tired of all this SAVE THE EARTH crap or RECYCLE PAPER AND SAVE A TREE yeah SAVE THE TREES SO THEY CAN GET BURNED UP BY A FOREST FIRE or demanding we all stop driving and ride stupid bicycles to work or how were ruining the rainforests when we found out the SAVE THE RAINFORESTS campaign was a big rip offand how we need to reintroduce wolves into these areas INTRODUCE WOLVES INTO THE CITIES WHERE IGNORANT FLATLANDERS LIVE

  13. Although I do think a lot of the tree hugger environmentalist out there take global warming and climate change a bit far, I also think that we should be doing more to conserve our planet. Especially common sense stuff like adjusting the thermostat, recycling, turning the lights off, etc. George Carlin may be right on with his rant, but it doesn’t hurt to take care of the area which you are living.
