There has been some conflict over hiring translators of Arabic just because they were gay (stupid, if true),

To be clear, it was gay translators from the military. There’s nothing against gay translators working for DOD, DOS etc. I forget the name or the title, but Bush appointed a gay man to DOD to recruit translators.
