On The Brink Of Two Million — UPDATED

July 31, 2008 by GayPatriot

Since September 2004, we have been attracting readers & commenters of all stars & stripes here to GayPatriot.

Well, if you head down to the bottom of our page you will see that we are within striking distance of our Two Millionth unique visitor.

In honor of this historic moment in blogosphere history, I’m offering a contest to GayPatriot readers.  For the rest of this week, you will all have the opportunity to guess what date & time we will hit the 2,000,000th mark.

The person who comes closest will win my 2nd (and untouched) personal hardcover copy of Jonah Goldberg’s awesome book — Liberal Fascism.   I will even autograph it with a suitable note celebrating our 2,000,000th reader.

It isn’t as easy as it may seem.  You never know when we will get a hit from Instapundit, the HuffPo, or the oh-so-rare “Sully-lanche”.

So have at it.   Contest closes on Sunday, August 3rd at 5PM Eastern Time.   Email me your guess of date & time, plus relevant contact information to BRUCE@GAYPATRIOT.ORG.

**NOTE:  Though there are some guesses in this comment thread — only emails to me will be considered as “official” guesses for the contest.**

May the most accurate man or woman win.

Liberal Fascism? Must be one of those unbiased books written by the Right. I really feel sorry for you guys because you have such a twisted world view. Anyone who dissents must be silenced. Fascism is a two-way street. When you want one party to rule everyone without question or debate. That’s the problem with American Politics is that is so binary. There are too few choices, no shades of gray allowed. Conservatism has branced off into a very snide, nasty divisive brand of politics without any real thought. I’m sure you’ll say the same thing about Liberals. A country divided will soon fall,

Sept. 11, 2008, 1:50 P.M., the 35th anniversary of the suicide, by AK-47, of socialist Chilean prime minister Salvador Allende.

At approximately 1:50 P.M. on September 11, 1973, that beyond-the-grave ghostdarling of the international Left (from the salon scum to street rabble), Salvador Allende, blew himself to kingdom come with a Soviet-manufactured AK-47 which Fidel Castro had personally gifted to him.

Since we live in a time when racist (er, “race-conscious”) Barack Obama supporter Alicia Keyes sports a gem-studded AK-47 pendant (“A.K.”, get it?), it’s time to recall that at no other time during the Cold War was that weapon of choice of “resistance” put to more effective or more efficient use.

Anyone who dissents must be silenced….Conservatism has branced off into a very snide, nasty divisive brand of politics without any real thought.

Remind me again which party is trying to force the “Fairness Doctrine” on us?

Which one has always had a love affair with such champions of freedom like Hugo Chavez, “Uncle Joe” Stalin, the Soviet Union, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro etc. etc. etc.???

Which party is pushing to replace freedom with their absolute power over the people with smoking laws, political correctness, “Free speech zones”, bans on guns, trans fats, sodas, oil, junk food, McDonald’s, prayer, fettucini alfredo, caffeine, etc. (I could go on, if you like)?

Which party has destroyed millions of inner-city families and keeps blacks, gays, Jews, Hispanics etc. crushed under their heels while painting anybody who disagrees with them as racist, sexist, bigot homophobes all so they can rule with unquestioned power?

Who is it that tries to silence anybody who dares disagree with Barack HUSSEIN Obama as racist?

Who is it that’s pushing for a national draft for all persons 18-42 to serve for a 2 year tour?

Which party is pushing to dictate how we travel and what kind of cars we can drive putting our safety at risk?

Which party has always put the state over the people?

And who calls Conservatives and Republicans “fascists” in an attempt to shut them up?

I can go on, Pinko, and others can add to it. We can show you how the liberals you love to hump are the true fascists in our time.

No, you don’t have to shut up or go away, but you really ought to consider being HONEST for a change.

    Sieg heil, baby!

Furthermore, as far as nasty divisive, who in the hell would want to unite with the angry, hate filled liberals? What do liberals offer that would attract people to them? Telling people how much their lives and their country SUCKS doesn’t attract people, but repels them.

  6. Pinky Bear says

    July 27, 2008 at 9:31 pm - July 27, 2008

Yeah, and Rush Limbaugh is the font of human kindness. Obama is not racist. Who could black people for feeling angry in the United States? There is great cultural bias that excludes anyone who isn’t White and Rich. I think when you criticize the liberals you are looking into the mirror of your own hearts. Isolated in your suburban enclaves away from the inner cities, you have locked yourselves into your Ivory Citadels and see anyone who wants to equalize the playing field as a threat.

Stalin and Guevara are monsters and they were hardly liberal. The stood for militaristic domination. Anyone who grabs power for themselves solely turns to despotism. Bush has hardly respected the US Constitution and has tried to make the Presidency with Absolute Power.

Hey, whatever makes you feel better about yourself for supporting the DNC. If lying to yourself helps you sleep at night, whatever creams your twinkie, dude.

Stalin and Guevara are monsters and they were hardly liberal.

They’re heroes to the liberal left that YOU SUPPORT.

Anyone who grabs power for themselves solely turns to despotism.

Make sure you tell that to Reid, Pelosi, Hillary etc. etc.

Bush has hardly respected the US Constitution and has tried to make the Presidency with Absolute Power.

Since January of 2007, the liberals in congress have made 70+ attempts to grab the power of CIC from Bush. Not only that, but liberals only believe in freedom of speech (1st amendment) as long as they agree with it and push to stifle any that they don’t. The liberals always push to supress the free exercise of religion (1st ammendment). They also try to push for bans on guns (2nd amendment). I can go on. Where’s the “respect” for the U.S. Constitution? Huh?

Bush has NEVER tried to make the Presidency with Absolute Power, but he has fought to take constitutional powers back that democrats have taken away over the years, particularly from Ford.

Yeah, and Rush Limbaugh is the font of human kindness.

If your definition of “kindness” of a radio host includes examples like Ed Schultz hanging up on a caller and calling him a “piece of crap” or Lionel hanging up on his caller, calling him an “ingnorant hick” and then calls everyone in Florida “inbred hicks”, then I would agree with you that Rush is NOT the font of kindness. What’s more, I can tell that you’ve never even listened to Rush for an extended period of time. You only listen to what George Soros tells you he said through MediaMorons. Don’t even try to play that game because you suck at it.

    Obama is not racist.

Maybe not, but his supporters lable folks who don’t genuflect before Him as “racist”. That’s what I said earlier. However, judging from his associations, it would be hard to believe that he isn’t a racist bigot.

There is great cultural bias that excludes anyone who isn’t White and Rich.

And it comes down from the arrogant liberal SOBs who’ve kept blacks crushed under their heel and impoverished with the “war on poverty”. Note how liberals have spoken of Condi Rice, Thomas Sowell, Michael Steele, Clarence Thomas etc. and tell me again who the racist bigots are? I double-dog dare you.

Isolated in your suburban enclaves away from the inner cities,

The people whom you support with votes and cash are the ones responsible for making the inner cities the way they are. And I live in my “suburban enclave” (with several blacks and cubans in my neighborhood) because it’s close to family and work. Remember when you chastised people for not living close to where they work???

and see anyone who wants to equalize the playing field as a threat.

Teaching a man to fish helps him out and “equalizes the playing field”. Taking fish away from those who know how to only pisses them off and encourages them to move to where fewer or none of their fish get taken away by force.

And don’t even try coming up with more lies as a response. You can’t slip anything past us. We know liberals all to well. It’s tiresome.

And of course, we have Pinky Bear, who says all of this is justified.

“By the way, you probably *should* read it to find out the ideological origins of your current political beliefs.”

Quite possibly it’s an interesting read but it’s simply one man’s opinion of the origins of liberal beliefs. If he uses “facts” like Coulter does then the book’s only value would be to help start the barbecue.

There are piles of attack books from both the left and the right and they all have “facts” in them. Facts, like statistics, can be manipulated to make them say what the author wants. And no one can, with any integrity that is, claim that ALL liberals or ALL conservatives believe this or that, or are influenced by fill in the blank. Those that do are just deluded liars with a severe deficiency of ethics. I am often amazed on here when certain people tell me what I believe and who I support. But then I just consider the source and find it entertaining. Especially the really long rants that are akin to little children stamping their feet and screeching. Perhaps a diaper change would help them.

“Bush has NEVER tried to make the Presidency with Absolute Power”

    2) that he will run again in 2012 (Hillary, don’t even think about it.).
    3) that he is rejoining the Trinity United Church of Black Liberation Theology
    4) and between the ums & ahs, America is a racist country still.

7:37 pm (EST) on October 4th 2008, which I believe is a Saturday –so I’ll be at the Carlyle having cocktails – feel free to come over and buy the old broad a drink.

We lost the right to a fair and speedy trial, being charged with a crime instead of being detained indefinitely, the right to privacy, the right to Freedom of Speech and saw the Geneva Conventions trampled on. You guys are like mirror people, you see things backwards. To you, dissent means treason. Freedom means being spied on.

putting your names on lists and then shooting up Churches that have a Liberal Theology.

What in the hell are you talking about?

We lost the right to a fair and speedy trial,

Who’s we??? We all have the right to a fair and speedy trial. While you were givint handjobs for crack, the SCOTUS even extended our constitutional rights to murderous bastards captured on foreign battlefields.

being charged with a crime instead of being detained indefinitely,

Can you show us where prisoners captured on the battlefield have to be charged with anything? And what, I pray you, would they be charged with? We’re talking about enemies fighting us on a battlefield, not domestic civil crimes.

    the right to privacy,

All of us, including you, still have that right. Can you prove otherwise?

the right to Freedom of Speech

We still have that right too, unless the liberals get their way. Even now they dictate where you can speak freely on college campi.

and saw the Geneva Conventions trampled on.

We’ve been adhering to Geneva even going above and beyond what it requires. Only the liberals demand that we toss it aside and do what THEY want just so we don’t, allegedly, hurt anybody’s feelings.

To you, dissent means treason. Freedom means being spied on.

To you, ignorance means strength. None of us are being spied upon. Don’t flatter yourself, you’re not worth it. I promise.

Furthermore, dissent is only patriotic if the one dissenting is a patriot. Otherwise, it’s plain treason. You know, like when the al-Qaeda times reveals our national security secrets, including a CIA operative, to give our enemies a heads up.

Like raising taxes, trying to restrict freedoms by enviornmentalists, not letting people own guns, taking land from homeowners to build a business park that will raise more tax money (eminent domain abuse), and then not allowing any of these measures to go up for debate on the Senate floor aren’t fascist…

Next, he says the book is “biased.” Oh really? It actually expresses an opinion? ANYTHING THAT EXPRESSES AN OPINION IS BIASED according to his definition. Actually biased means that you are swayed by outside sources, not by objectivity, but you can still look at an issue objectively and come up with an OPINION.

As Goldberg’s book shows, they continue to derive many of their ideas and traditions from a period in the 20s and 30s when they explicitly admired both Hitler and Mussolini (as well as Communists like Stalin). Moreover, Nazism was a movement of the Left… that is why they always called it National *Socialism*.

Amazing. Pinky Phelps is now the second left-lib on this forum to proclaim that he has not read and does not intend to read Liberal Fascism… but feels free to break into a bitter, demented rant based on what he has already made up his mind the book is about.

Every time Pinky Phelps posts I feel even better about being a right-winger.

Re-reading, I see Pinky Phelps was the first and Dave was the second to proclaim that they wanted to remain ignorant of the book they were trashing. My mistake.

Still, the thing is, you don’t have to make any effort to learn about statist left liberalism because that philosophy more or less controls the press, the entertainment media, and academia from kindergarten through college. Thus, statist left liberalism is pushed on us night and day. everywhere you look. You really have to go out of your way to learn about conservatism, because the usual channels of information in this country are not going to present an honest view of what conservatism means.

It’s the truth itself – the fact that liberals are worshippers of State power, and hence fascists whether they want to admit it or not – that offends them.

Since they can’t and don’t wish to change that truth about themselves, they lash out at others for daring to notice.

  50. ILoveCapitalism says

And, of course, pretend that it’s others doing it. Pretend that Bush has suspended habeus corpus when in fact people have more rights to fair and extended trials than ever before – Check. Pretend that Bush suppresses dissent when he has done nothing of the kind – Check. Pretend that Bush has suspended the Geneva Conventions when in fact he has extended them, applying them to a class of criminal combatant that they weren’t meant to be applied to and have never before been applied to – Check. And so on. It’s a classic defense mechanism, displacement. Again, liberals don’t want to admit – much less to change – something very bad about themselves, so they displace and distract with screams about other, better people supposedly doing it.

I’ve said this before, but I haven’t said it in a while… I think there are a lot of left-wingers today who like the fantasy that they are living in a police state because instead of a loser tapping away in their parents’ basement, they become (in their minds) a part of some brave underground united in subverting the evil Bush Regime… and they project their delusional fantasy onto the real world.

The “extermination” rhetoric thrown out by Kevin and Pinky Phelps is evidence in support of this hypothesis.

Everyone needs meaning in their lives. (Viktor Frankl wrote a great little book about it.) Too many go for the easy, false illusion of meaning… a fake sense of meaning based falsehoods, which must then be asserted or defended all the louder.

Fine, go take it out from the Library!

You can also buy it used. Money from the resale of used books doesn’t go to the author.

That’s being extremely petty in my view, but liberals are petty people.

actually V the K, if you would learn to read you would understand that I NEVER said I wanted to remain “ignorant” of the book. And as far as liberals being petty, it is the fake conservatives on here that apparently spend many of their waking moments trying to twist other’s words to make them say what their juvenile minds want them to say. If it’s so petty not wanting to give money to someone who consistently attacks your beliefs or even worse creates whole new ones that you never were aware you believed, and claims you support ideas that you never have or would then donate some of your money to some liberal that you hate, oh wait… that would be all of them. don’t you ever get tired of living in the sand box?

#55: “…or even worse creates whole new ones that you never were aware you believed, and claims you support ideas that you never have or would…”

What Dave is so upset about is the fact that he thinks he is entitled to take whatever positions and make whatever arguments he wants, AND control the way his statements and opinions are interpreted by others. The classic example is the liberal outrage you hear whenever someone questions their support of the military. Liberals think they are entitled to collude with leftist city governments to try to run recruiting stations out of town, but expect everyone to take them at their word when they say they support the troops. They scream and bitch about American imperialism and western oppression of Muslims being the cause of 9/11, but then they gasp and clutch their pearls if anyone calls them moral relativists. They pledge unrestrained support for the Fairness Doctrine, and then scream bloody murder when they are accused of not believing in free speech.

Dave, like all liberals, wants it both ways. They want to say and do whatever they want, AND have absolute control over how their actions and statements are interpreted as well. It’s just another reason that they spend every moment of their lives in a frenzy of petulance and rage.

#14: “There are piles of attack books from both the left and the right and they all have “facts” in them. Facts, like statistics, can be manipulated to make them say what the author wants. And no one can, with any integrity that is, claim that ALL liberals or ALL conservatives believe this or that, or are influenced by fill in the blank. Those that do are just deluded liars with a severe deficiency of ethics.”

Dave, only a person with “a severe deficiency of ethics” would define “facts” the way you have above.

Will somebody please get Dave a crying towel and a jar of Gerber’s strained peas?

What Dave said about Liberal Fascism: “it’s simply one man’s opinion of the origins of liberal beliefs. If he uses “facts” like Coulter does then the book’s only value would be to help start the barbecue.”

A judgment expressed without ever bothering to read the book.

Then, he throws a hissy-fit because people deduce from his own words that he has pre-judged the book without reading it.

Goldberg wrote a book which accurately traces the intellectual genesis and development of the modern left-liberal’s ideas. Dave is deeply offended and threatened by the very notion of that; as explained in #49 and elsewhere.

#56 No Sean, I want you to read the words as they are written.

#57 Sean, are you really naive enough to thing that authors don’t use “facts” in such a way that they convey ONLY what the author wants. It would be a waste of time to attempt to explain that to you but have you heard of such a thing as “perspective”. Fox News and CNN can report the same event (a fact) but say totally different things about it. Ann Coulter writes about the McCarthy years far different than a liberal would. Events are the same, perspective is different. Is that too difficult for you to understand?

#58 V the K, I didn’t realize that the word “if” was such a hard concept to fathom. So sorry I overestimated you.

$59 ILC, I’m not threatened at all. I know where my beliefs come from so what anyone else says about how they supposedly evolved is meaningless. I guess independent thinking is something that you have much experience with?

Dave, like all liberals, wants it both ways. They want to say and do whatever they want, AND have absolute control over how their actions and statements are interpreted as well.

    Classic example:

I know where my beliefs come from so what anyone else says about how they supposedly evolved is meaningless.

And of course, these are the same people who mock as “dogmatic” and “narrow-minded” ultra-literalist religious folk who say they know where all life came from so what anyone else says about how it supposedly evolved is meaningless.

No wonder liberalism appeals to the young and the emotionally-immature. It’s like being a two-year-old; everything you say is always right, even if it contradicts itself, and anything that anyone who disagrees with you says is wrong, even if it makes logical and rational sense.

And apparently NDT, not even that much is true. Dave apparently doesn’t know where his beliefs come from – i.e., who held them first, and why, and how those beliefs were developed and spread through the years by the teachers, academics, politicians, artists and commentariat that have taught them to Dave – and he doesn’t care to find out.
