Anyone catch Melissa Ethridge at the DNC love-in? My God, it makes some of us gays seem positively butch by comparison to these metrosexuals.

I fear for my country's future.

Regards,
Peter H.

The left really are mindless sheep. Bash a Republican, and they all bleat their approval on cue.
But will they go out and buy her newest CD?

Also, I wonder, how effective will this McCain is Bush and Hitler bashing will be. If McCain, wins (God willing!) then yes, the left will hate him as much as they hate Bush. But right now, it's hard to make that sale, though Hillary did her share last night as well.

Madonna pandered to gay men the way the Democrats pandered to gay voters. That's why "we" supposedly love her. Personally, I've never warmed to any of her records, and she's been in about 3 watchable (not necessarily "great") movies. But she was last shocking when I was a baby, and my musical tastes at the time didn't get any edgier than Raffi. She doesn't know a whit about politics: Mugabe is a Marxist, and some of Gandhi's statements about the Jews and Hitler are questionable at best.

She is different than other performers who adopted contemporary material because she is not so much interested in expanding her repertoire (while remembering where they came from) as cashing in on the latest popular fad or whatever she thinks will "shock" Middle America. But pop music is at an all-time low, and it's hard to shock a generation that witnessed 9/11, where there is no such thing as weirdness, and can get porn and violent imagery at the click of a button.

Streisand may be the better singer, but she has probably managed to alienate everyone in America at one time or another. I've been on vacations that didn't cost as much as one of her concert tickets, and that includes food and activities.

Gay iconography destroys everything it touches. It damn near killed the perception of musicals (on stage and screen) so that any man who likes them is presumed to be gay. A lot of the supposed admiration of many female entertainers by some gays has more than a hint of ironic mockery to it. Camp can be cruel and heartless, like beating up a homely, injured dog.

Hey Madge, call me when you reinvent yourself as a singer.
