Bill Clinton speech - test skills for Obama !!!

While Bill Clinton's speech on the third night of the convention will only be a courtesy accorded former presidents, Obama -- who speaks tomorrow, the last night of the convention -- needs his support desperately.

I am not so certain that McCain will fail to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. Romney or even Giuliani could trot this election to a sweep of both houses and the White House.

Gene, if The Snob and The Bidet don't get at least a 5% bounce from the convention, they're toast. A normal convention bounce is a short-term rally effect that can trend 5-10% which fizzles after a week or so.

Given the fact that McCain will probably announce his VP this week (and the buzz includes Romney, Pawlenty and - GULP - Lieberman), you have the makings of the SS Titanic for the DNC.

Regards,
Peter H.

So I feel for Hillary. Imagine yourself an American woman. Once again hopes dashed. It's all just men again. Hillary gave a great speech for her own legacy. She has done amazing things for her gender. Having said that, there is no way to avoid the fact that Bill and Hillary really are all about themselves. They will not leave the stage. Good loser, they never heard of the term. Bill was caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Did he apoligize. No, they demonized Ken Star. Hillary can't close the deal and win the nomination. What happened? Well it must be because someone didn't play fair. It isn't because she wasn't wanted by a majority of Dems.
To Obama....He wins the nomination, he picks a VP almost as liberal as himself, his wife gets a primetime speech to tell us BHO is a regular guy, his convention is 50% done, and McCain now LEADS by 2%?!?! The Pelosi/Reid team can't run Congress, 9% approval rating, and now the Messiah can't run a successful convention! Hold cow Batman! Every team comes out of their convention 6-15% ahead. Even Gore, even Kerry. What gives? Is the incompetence this widespread?

Interesting. Unless I missed something, Hillary referenced a lot of people last night, but never mentioned Bill. Obviously he'll make up for that shortfall many times over this evening.

This is a joke, right? Bill Clinton's favorite word is "I" and I will bet that you can not keep count of the number of times he uses it.

As for Clinton at his best: it is when he is talking about himself and his unique gifts for understanding everything there is to understand.

If Hillary supported Barack Obama, I missed the speech. The one I saw was a psalm to her own political prowess, her hopes and a lot of preparation for her political future.

I loved seeing Bill just all puffed up with pride over Chelsea's mother's crafty delivery.

Bill Clinton might focus more on McCain than Obama and talking about issues. He is best when he talking about issues and focusing in on the voter, and it seems unlikely he will say anything nice about Obama beyond...I am supporting him, blah blah

I have no idea what President Clinton will say in Denver tonight. But Senator Hillary Clinton left no doubts about her commitment to Senator Barack Obama's election. It was probably the best speech she has ever given. I'm not sure Senator Obama would have wanted to follow her to the stage to speak last night.
