Media Bias & GOP Convention Bounce

September 8, 2008 by GayPatriotWest

As most polls shows John McCain edging into the lead over Barack Obama following the successful GOP Convention in St. Paul, John Hinderaker sums it up:

Obama will have the edge when voters are learning about the campaign from newspapers, magazines or television, and McCain will have the advantage when voters actually see the candidates perform. The debates will therefore be critical, but, this year at least, no more so than the parties’ conventions.

This morning on Fox 11’s Good Day LA, they were discussing McCain’s jump in the polls. It was funny to watch how they were trying to spin it. One of the anchor’s tried to liken it to Dukakis’ jump in the polls. Porn-staresque weather girl said that voters need to educate themselves before voting. They’re afraid HAHAHA!!!

Polls show a majority of voters have realized the mainstream media is in the tank for Obama, and their influence is declining. MSNBC has pulled Chris “Tingly Leg” Matthews and Keith Olbermann off election coverage, because their catfights and partisanship was just getting too embarrassing.

And for all the “conservatism is dead” talk, McCain’s choice of a very conservative running mate seems to have given his campaign a huge boost.

Finally, Matthews and Olbermann went too-far and got themselves yanked off the air.

Matthews certainly was over the line too-often, and seemed to be using his air-time to lay the foundations for his upcoming Senate bid from Pennsylvania if you knew what to listen-for. And Olbermann’s 15-minute Jerimand-rant against George Bush several months ago was my last-straw. It reached the point where his venom and bitterness tinged his every-mention of Bush or McCain….and Maddow’s merely his loyal cheerleader. I’d leave the room…or change the channel…when Olbermann appeared on-screen.

The MSNBC crew, I believe most nights of the conventions their ratings were half CNN’s and a quarter of Fox News. Even the Democrat convention. It looks like the adults in charge, who after all would like to make money and keep their jobs, had to pull Chris and Keith back to their own hours. Where they typically get 250,000 viewers a night. Tonight MSNBC is adding the socialists Racheal Maddaw to the “diverse” lineup. One’s more nutty than the rest. It is good to see the public tieing MSNBC to NBC. They share correspondents. All the big shots appear on MSNBC, so they should be stained by the escapies from the Oregon State Hospital.

SOS- We need to jump in and help the McCain campaign.

I came upon this site and was happy to know I was not alone with my views. Similar to how I felt as a teenager and discovered other gay people existed.
This piece on media bias needs to be addressed. As one of the people who took the time to write to MSNBC to complain of the overt bias during the RNC Convention, it is a 500# Gorilla in this campaign.
For the past few months I have been participating on newspaper message boards in key swing states trying to offer McCains positions and counter the smears from the ‘left’.
The message boards I participate on have several newspapers with their boards all tied together. So posting to one newspaper goes out to several other newspapers.
I am targeting Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Virginia and Pennsylvania. I am up against some pretty vicious attacks on a daily basis. In Ohio, the ‘left’ has tried to get me silenced, claiming I am paid by McCains campaign. I am not. The paper asked me to limit myself to three threads per day, which is not in their terms, and is not imposed on the posters on the ‘left’. That board’s threads run
5-1 in favor of the Democrats, but they are not satisfied with that advantage.
We need to counter the misinformation being posted from the ‘left’, before people actually believe their propoganda. Here the newspaper Message boards I participate on. I could sure use some help from family.
    Ohio-‘Lancaster Eagle-Gazette’ (covers southern 1/2 of Ohio)
    PA- Scranton ‘Morning Call’
    Florida- Tallahassee, ‘Tallahasse Democrat’
Florida- Ocala, ‘The Star Banner Forum’
    Florida- Orlando, ‘Orlando Sentinnel’
    Virginia-Richmnd, ‘Times-Dispatch’
    Virginia-SW. VA, SWVAToday
    Virginia-Norfolk, Virginia Pilot’
    Michigan, Detroit, ‘Free Press’
    Michigan-Grand Rapids, Mlive.con Newstalk
Thanks in advance for any help you can give. These newspapers were chosen , because they are in parts of these respective states that we need to carry. We are close in these states and need them in our column.
