While checking the blogs last night, I alerted Kevin (AKA Queer Conservative) to a video I was watching on Michelle Malkin’s site showing the two major party candidates at Ground Zero.
Obama seemed awkward, uncertain what he was doing, while McCain seemed respectful, understanding the solemnity of the ceremony.
Kevin observed something else as well, saying that Obama’s aloofness reminded him of other presidential candidates and not in a good way:
Remember how George H. W. Bush came across as out of touch during the 1992 election? Remember Al Gore’s sighing and eye rolling during the first debate of the 2000 election?
He may be onto something. So, read his post, watch the video for yourself, come to your own conclusions.
Is it just us or did the Democratic nominee seem uncomfortable with the ceremony?
nope he was uncomfortable…note the “toss” of the flower whereas the McCain’s very gently placed theirs…actually considering the chruch he sat in for 20 yrs i was surprised and angry that he was even there today at all..it seemed out of place for him to be there. or maybe in my mind he was just plain “out of place”.
I’m not a McCain supporter, but McCain has at least learned how to convey a sense of personal humility… that some events are larger than he is. I don’t think Obama has any sense of humility, and I don’t think he’s learned to fake it the way other politicians have. And it shows when he’s at an event that’s about something other than him.
I thought it was just me! When I was just half watching the ceremony yesterday I immediately thought how rude of Obama to almost throw his flower down. Much to my surprise when I started reading articles this am other people had the same reaction.
My family saw through Obama many months ago. He and his wife have been “packaged” for public consumption. I would love to be a fly on a wall in their home to hear what they REALLY do and say.
I may be the only GayPatriot reader to have been in BarryO’s space recently and been able to touch the “Flesh of History” but I can tell you he comes off in person exactly like you see him in the interview with O’Reilly –cocky, lots of hubris (oops) and a guy who uses his physical touching to make a connection where his thoughts and emotions fail to do so.
Tossing a rose onto what he probably saw as only a heap of flowers -not as sentiments of hundreds of victims- tells us a lot about how uncomfortable he was in that particular setting. And how he just doesn’t get it.
I’m guessing that his earlier meeting with SlickWilly -where he sought deliverance (and no, not the kind dished out in the movie of the same name) from the plight of a stalled campaign and reversal of fortunes– was still on his mind.
We have no idea what SlickWilly demanded of BarryO but you can bet it was probably money for Hillary’s campaign debt and, frankly, that may have been the very reason BarryO went to see SlickWilly… because the BarryO campaign is failing to meet its internal fundraising goals and he wanted the Perjurer-in-Chief to turn open the spigots for BarryO.
It is just you, seeing what you want to see rather than really understanding people as they are. Sound familiar?
#7 – Please clarify your remarks. I’m not fluent in “gibberish.”
#1 – LLLF, welcome aboard. I would greet you with more platitudes, but I’ve got Hurricane Ike to deal with right now. Suffice to say you are right on target.

My impression of Obama flinging his single flower at the heap was exactly as described by left leaning les above. He seemed out of place not knowing where he was. Earlier in the day he had to go and kiss the ring of Mr Clinton and the messiah must have still had that on his mind. I wonder if Bill was pressing him to now dump Biden and beg Hillary to accept the VP spot? And pay off her debts. However it appears as though Obama isn’t going to have nearly as much cash to run his campaign as they originally thought. So Hills getting help may be a problem.
I’ll stick with my explanation, Obama didn’t see what the big deal was since the event wasn’t about *him.*
Can someone tell me how all the other roses made it to the center of the memorial? They must of been tossed too. No? You guys love making noise about nothing.
