If the Secret Service did have better intel gathering, 4th Amendment issues would arise (and the lefties would then claim that Bush was eavesdropping on citizens).

Bush already has the authority to wiretap and liberals already complain about it. But intel is one of the main purposes of organizations like the SS. How are they going to know when the president may be in danger? The fact is this was published online and gained a lot of media attention, so they should have been on top of it.

Again, there’s no law per se against a private citizen gathering evidence; people do things everyday for which they might be held to account. Not that Governor Palin is among them. Iâ€™d expect to find nothing incriminating, but the attack on Sarah Palinâ€™s privacy is inexcusable. Citizens do have rights, the right to be secure in their papers among them. Due to the electronic medium, the Palin case should be groundbreaking. For the less technologically inclined: whenever oneâ€™s cell phone is switched on, not necessarily making a call, just turned on, even if it’s not a GPS enabled device, it emits a signal that anyone who knows your SIM card number may track with an array of inexpensive software. Perhaps youâ€™re wondering, as did I, how certain individuals seem to know your whereabouts, or manage to show up when and where they do. Gina – Rush Limbaugh has remarked that Obama’s tactics, dating from his run for the Illinois state senate, are to “clear the field” by any means necessary.

Mitchell – If the Secret Service did have better intel gathering, 4th Amendment issues would arise (and the lefties would then claim that Bush was eavesdropping on citizens).

The SS or FBI should have no problem getting warrants for this information since a felony was committed. If the AP wants to hold out then a judge could put someone in jail for contempt.

I doubt the AP has much useful info, though… the interesting info would come from Yahoo!, any proxy sites, and local ISPs.

I’d really like to see some people do prison time for this (and I’d think the same if it were Barry’s or Biden’s email that was stolen).

Throughout the entire primaries and the general election, the Obama campaign has played dirty politics. In addition to the never ending vitriol of the Obama bloggers on the internet, nearly every time I have posted a supportive blog for Hillary Clinton … and, then for McCain/Palin … my computer’s mailbox has been inundated with hundreds of pieces of email spam. Another example of under handed behavior by Obama’s henchmen, is that they have been organized to approach retirement homes, as volunteer community speakers … only to visit multiple times spewing lop sided pro-Obama, and negative McCain propaganda to elderly people, to get their votes in November. And, now we can see unprincipled politicians and bias media hacks using the race card … telling people ” if you don’t vote for Obama, you must be a racist”. Usually, when Americans uncover such despicable tactics, they can count on the mainstream media to expose it to the public … however, in this case, most of the mainstream media is in the tank for Obama … so, they either look the other way, or they make phony biased excuses to mischaracterize, and cover up what’s really happening.

What were the grounds of the APâ€™s refusal?

It’s an old journalistic ethic. They (we) almost never give up sources, evidence, etc. Most journalists go to jail instead of giving up sources. I don’t think it’s partisan.

It’s shocking how fanatical the left is becoming. I say we do the same to Obama and Hillary’s accounts if they keep this up. And I hope the AP leaders get thrown in jail for not revealing criminal evidence. GRRR.

I think the real question is how did the Secret Service not get access to the emails? They were published online at one point. I think the Secret Service ought to have better intel gathering abilities than the AP.

I think that if it’s fair to blame Bush/Rove for the “smear” of McCain in NC, as if the liberals really give a sh*t, it’s completely fair to hold Comrade Obama for this.
