If more of today's liberals were like Paul Newman, the world would be a far, far better place.

Newman was a Liberal of the old "Honorable Opposition" variety and actually did things himself, with his own money to better things, which is more a conservative thing now-a-days. More a true Liberal, than a leftist as the term has come to be.
Unlike far too many, he didn't want only gov't programs to do the things he saw as needing to be done, and went out and did them himself.
Newman's Own is a prime case.
So is the association Newman/Haas racing had with food banks, soup kitchens, etc, for the unused catering of his race teams. Some people had them some mighty fine food after his teams were in town.

Somewhere, there is a Red White And Blue painted Race car driving into the sunset.

We lost one of the greatest actors of all time today - Paul Newman. They just don't make them like that anymore. His 50+ years of marriage to Joanne Woodard was one of Hollywood's most stable couplings. Also, if a conservative actor had died, the lefties blogs would be filled with bile. But here, nothing but respect for the deceased. Paul Newman was a dedicated liberal (he claimed he was proudest to be on Nixon's enemies list) & was also a Unitarian Universalist (as I am also). So goodbye Mr. Newman. Rest in peace.

A Legend is Gone...

Paul Newman has died. I had read recently that Newman was seriously ailing. And, although we know it comes for us all, nevertheless it is sad news to know that such an entertainment, philanthropic and racing legend is no longer......
