Obama: Mispresenting his Relationship to ACORN?

October 6, 2008 by GayPatriotWest

Recall how back in 2004, after John Kerry lost the election, a lot of Democrats were trying to point out Republican tactics to intimidate voters.  But, they couldn’t come up with anythying more than a handful of anecdotes, most which they couldn’t document.  As the media reported those claims, they downplayed real charges of vote fraud and intimidation, brought in real courts of law, with indictments and convictions, against Democrats.

Now, the MSM seems to be ignoring the tactics, often illegal of a liberal group which the Democratic presidential nominee once represented.  According to John Fund:

A left-wing “community organizing” group called ACORN has seen its employees frequently convicted of voter registration fraud. This year its employees are under active investigation in several states. Perhaps one reason for ACORN’s go-for-broke behavior is that Barack Obama used to be a lawyer and top trainer for the group. In August, the Obama campaign was caught misidentifying an $800,000 payment it had made to an ACORN subsidiary for “election services.”

Fund isn’t the only one to look into Obama’s relationship to the group.

A student journalist at Indiana University finds that that Democrat has misrepresented his relationship to that shady organization. He contrasts what the Obama campaign says on its Fight the Smears web-site with the actual record.

For example, the Obama campaign contends its candidate neither trained nor worked for ACORN, yet it appears that he did in his “community organizing” days.

Once again, we have the Obama campaign saying one thing and the record indicating something entirely different. Isn’t this something that the MSM should be investigating? Let’s hope that media outlets in the coming years will be quick to hire student journalists doing the work they should be doing.

Check out this young journalist’s piece and wonder why more seasoned professionals aren’t engaged in the serious investigative reporting he is. At least when it comes to Democrats.

“Isn’t this something that the MSM should be investigating?”

There is a lot of things they should be investigating
Like Sara Palin addressing the anti-American group “Alaska Independence Party”
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrI yI
    She told them:
“keep up the good work” and wished them luck on their “inspiring” convention
(Not to mention her hubby was a card carrying member!)
How can we have a VP who supports a group that wants to succeed from the union?!?!

    She must hate America!!!

    What a joke…

Ah, so your nephew is writing for the IDS already (known on campus as the Indiana Daily Stupid — maybe he can change that.)

    glille is a good Obamabot.

What they do is respond by counterexample, thinking that neutralizes the conversation about Obama. It doesnt.

Sean Hannity did a substantial exposee on Obama last night on his onehour Hannity-only Fox show “Hanniy’s America”

It explores the time period of when Obama was in University until when he entered public office.

THis is a period of time in the 1990s that Obama refuses to discuss and denies anything that anyone asks him about it

It explores that Ayers had lived in NYC at the same time that Obama went to Columbia. That radical Islamists connected to the Saudi Govt were helping Obama get into Harvard

That Obama met Ayers in NYC and both end up moving to CHicago and live blocks from each other.

Ayers hired Obama to chair Ayer’s foundation Chicago Allenberg Challenege.

    And other info too

It’s likely that Obama is a Radical Marxist who is hiding who is and running a demagogic campaign to have the stupid vote for him

Watch it here at this AntiObama site of Hillary and now McCain supporting Democrats

McCain is finally implicating the Democrats, Obama specifically, to the Fannie Mess

    http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MTM3NDFhYjU1M2Q1NDhjNzgzZWVjM2E3MDM0NjExNGM

John McCain, today, finally starts talking about Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the irresponsible leadership at both, and the Democrats’ efforts to prevent serious oversight:

Our current economic crisis is a good case in point. What was his actual record in the years before the great economic crisis of our lifetimes?

This crisis started in our housing market in the form of subprime loans that were pushed on people who could not afford them. Bad mortgages were being backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and it was only a matter of time before a contagion of unsustainable debt began to spread. This corruption was encouraged by Democrats in Congress, and abetted by Senator Obama.

Senator Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed. But the truth is I was the one who called at the time for tighter restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that could have helped prevent this crisis from happening in the first place.

Senator Obama was silent on the regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his Democratic allies in Congress opposed every effort to rein them in. As recently as September of last year he said that subprime loans had been, quote, “a good idea.” Well, Senator Obama, that “good idea” has now plunged this country into the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

To hear him talk now, you’d think he’d always opposed the dangerous practices at these institutions. But there is absolutely nothing in his record to suggest he did. He was surely familiar with the people who were creating this problem. The executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have advised him, and he has taken their money for his campaign. He has received more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than any other senator in history, with the exception of the chairman of the committee overseeing them. Did he ever talk to the executives at Fannie and Freddie about these reckless loans? Did he ever discuss with them the stronger oversight I proposed? If Senator Obama is such a champion of financial regulation, why didn’t he support these regulations that could have prevented this crisis in the first place? He won’t tell you, but you deserve an answer.

I know it is ancedotal evidence, but on my blog I I write about what one of my former students told me- that members of ACORN are on college campus’, registering students multiple times and asking them to send their absentee ballots to them, all while wearing buttons that say “Vote Obama.”
