Mark Foley Voting For Barack Obama??

UPDATE: Foley responds on Drudge…

FOLEY: ‘An online article posted today on Variety’s website innaccurately reported that I was supporting Barack Obama. The story on Variety’s website, based on a second or third-hand account of my private conversation, is incorrect. I have already voted by absentee ballot in Florida. Although I didn’t vote for Senator Obama, I intend to keep my choice private.’

I know there is a joke in here somewhere.   I’m just too busy to think of it.   But our traffic usually spikes when there is a Mark Foley Update, so here goes…. (h/t - Drudge)

I got an excited phone call yesterday from two friends, TV producer Richard Ayoub and talent manager Dolores Cantu, who were having lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Sitting the next table over was Foley, who resigned just before the midterms after the revelation that he sent inappropriate e-mail messages to a congressional page.

Ayounb and Cantu didn’t know immediately recognize him until he told them he had once been in Congress. The jist of the conversation then went like this, according to both:

Cantu: “You didn’t have an affair, did you?”

Foley: “Well, I was…”

Realizing who was in their midst, Ayoub, who has a penchant for devilish humor, offered a deadpanned admonishment, “You should not flirt with congressional pages.” Foley went on to say that nothing happened, he didn’t realize that the page was only 18, and that he perhaps was a bit tipsy when he sent the e-mails.

What they both said was how great Foley looked, and he was particularly excited about Colin Powell’s endorsement that morning of Obama. Foley said he also favors Obama.

And Foley also expressed some pleasure in watching the latest developments from his old Florida district: His successor, Democrat Tim Mahoney, is now in trouble for a series of extramarital affairs.

Foley seems to be the latest sufferer of the “Post-Conservative Gay Liberal Conversion Syndrome” (see: David Catania, Patrick Guerriero, Neil Guiliano, Andrew Sullivan)   That’s the best I could do to coin a new disease name; sorry for its lameness.

  1. Amazing. It is as if some of these ‘non-thinkers’ feel it is a right of passage that once you ‘decide’ you are gay you must automatically become a liberal. What a pathetic man.

  2. Some people just feel the need to ‘belong’, and think (rightly or wrongly) that they see which way the wind is blowing. When you ask them why they support Obama, their response is a triumph of emotion over reason. Usually it’s one of two things:

    (1) “Uh… uhhh… uhhhmmm… uh…”

    (2) “Well, he’s black.” (Translation: Obama supporters are racists. They’re voting a particular way BLINDLY BECAUSE OF A CANDIDATE’S RACE.)

  3. Weirdos, Dictators, Domestic Terrorists, and RINOS heart Obama.

That Chinese fortune came true. We do live in interesting times.

  4. Obama must have promised him he’d be in charge of Juvenile Justice at the DoJ.

  5. He’s burned himself as a republican. He’s simply hoping to be rehabilitated under a new regime.

  6. “Post-Conservative Gay Liberal Conversion Syndrome”

Can we add Michael Huffington and his ex to that list?

  7. Wow, that is a great endorsement. Has anyone asked Bill Ayers and his wife for whom they will be voting. Oops, sorry, his wife is a convicted felon who works or did work in the law office where Obama worked for awhile. She got her law degree after her conviction, but can’t practice law because she is a felon.

  8. Sorry guys, just heard on Rush Limbaugh that Foley denies supporting Obama. He says he already voted absentee, his vote is private, but he didn’t vote for Obama. (so maybe he voted for Bob Barr??)
Either way, it looks like MSM is in such a tizzy that it is grasping at straws!

Also listening to Sarah go after Joe Biden’s latest gaffe - she is sounding wonderful. Despite Peggy Noonan and all the rest of MSM - it isn’t sound bites, she is hitting back hard.

Just remember - go out and vote, this election is far from over!

Actually, it’s once you realize you’re completely useless, you must automatically become a liberal.

I’m not sure I understand your comment. I would assume Ayers and his wife are voting for Obama. Probably several times. Why wouldn’t they?

  11. To Sean A, you’re absolutely right. But, then, who in the MSM is concerned about ACORN. It will be funny/sad when the election totals come in from Chicago. Has there ever been a time when more people voted in a city than lived in that city?

    Comment by Swampfox — October 21, 2008 @ 3:16 pm - October 21, 2008

  12. 12: “Has there ever been a time when more people voted in a city than lived in that city?”

Actually, I don’t think there has been an election in Chicago since it’s founding that didn’t have that result. Obama loves ACORN because it reminds him of what he loves about government–the more corrupt and incompetent an organization is, the more successful (and well-funded) it becomes. At this point, NOTHING will surprise me. On election night, I’m fully prepared to hear news reports of SHUT-OUTS in major cities for Obama. I’m serious–the polls will close and the final count will be announced by Katie Couric… (drum roll)…….8,592,341 votes for Obama! And…….ZERO votes for McCain, Ladies and Gentlemen! This is unprecedented! A real-live shut-out in the great State of New York!
