Biden Gets the Palin Treatment,
Obama Campaign Throws Tantrum

October 26, 2008 by GayPatriotWest

Finally, a reporter, Barbara West of Orlando’s ABC affiliate, WFTV, asks Joe Biden tough questions.

Instead of responding with the grace Sarah Palin showed to Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric when they posed much tougher ones, he got testy, even misrepresenting his running mate’s statements as he has, in the past, misrepresented Obama’s stands.

Quoting Karl Marx’s line, “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs,” West asked how Senator Obama is “not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around,” Biden thinks she’s joking, then says, “He is not spreading the wealth around.”

Um, Joe, that’s what he said.  Or, as Gibson might put it “exact words.”

So much did Biden dislike the kind of questions his rival for the vice presidency so regularly gets “the Obama campaign canceled a WFTV interview with Jill Biden, the candidate’s wife:”

“This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election,” wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

(Via Glenn who has more.)  Wow, do you think the MSM will make much of this childish behavior?  Do you think more papers will report how Biden’s been avoiding crowd questions?

The Delaware Democrat was so taken aback by West’s line of inquiry that he snapped, “I don’t know who’s writing your questions.” Guess he’s come to expect softball questions from the news media, assuming only Republican partisans would try to make him sweat. Allahpundit thinks West decided to “shoot for viral video immortality by making him squirm.”

Even when Sarah Palin failed to answer Katie Couric’s questions, she didn’t become as testy as Biden. Nor did she claim he never said what everyone knows he said.

I highly doubt the MSM will make as much of this as they have of Palin’s poor performance on CBS. Remember, a Biden gaffe goes down the memory hole whereas a Palin media blunder comes to define her. It doesn’t seem to matter that Palin has come across much better in interviews since the Couric exchange.

Biden’s had decades of practice before the national media and still makes bizarre and inaccurate statements. He gets a free pass.  If the media treated Palin as they do him, she’d be fêted as Alaska’s gift to this nation.

UPDATE:  Michelle Malkin calls West “completely professional and gracious,” but reminds us that “Anything less than total sycophancy from the Obamedia is considered ‘combative.'”   You see, Adrianne Marsh, Florida spokeswoman for Obama’s campaign said West was “both combative and woefully uninformed about simple facts.” WOW!  Since when it is combative to ask tough questions?

Wonder what Marsh feels about Katie Couric and Charles Gibson.

UP-UPDATE: John Hinderaker calls its a “new experience” for Biden to be

asked tough questions by a news reporter. This interview with a local TV station is fun to watch, because it makes you realize how rare it is for a Democrat to face hostile questions from the press. Really, it’s almost unheard of, and you can see Biden’s outrage at the idea that a television reporter is willing to challenge Democrat orthodoxy.

I feel better about this race every time “Plugs” takes his size 11 loafer out of his gob and starts talking.

This is AMAZING! it’s like if you combined 2 days of christmas, 8 nights of hannukah, new year’s eve, halloween and birthday into one delicious interview. I wish I had made popcorn in advance.

Liberal crybabies can only function in an echo chamber.

I have a feeling “I don’t know who’s writing your questions” means “… but I intend to find out.”

I used to know a reporter in New York who once told me that the manner in which an athlete is portrayed by the media depends a great deal on their mutual relationship. If the athlete is accessible to the media, even in defeat, they will go a little easier on them. Athletes stand offish, hostile or inaccessible tend to get the medias wrath in the form of negative articles.

Obama has been sailing with a pro-media wind at his back for over a year. They have inoculated him from any transgression and even absolved his running mate in their efforts to clear the way for his Presidency. However, the Obama camp has since become less accessible and in some instances arrogant in their treatment of reporters, going as far as selling coverage time and prime photo op areas to the highest bidder. This recent stunt pulled by the Obama campaign with WFTV cannot be sitting well with the MSM, regardless of how much they’re pulling for Obama.

If (I refuse to say “when” until I see the results after November 4th) Obama becomes President, I wonder how long it will be before the media turns on him. At what point will the MSM start saying “Okay, Mr. President, we helped you get this far and now you’re throwing us under the bus. That may work in Chicago-land politics but that doesn’t fly with the press. Your antics will not serve you well after all we’ve done for you. Think long and hard before you refuse us an interview or boycott one of our networks now that you’re in the Oval Office. We can make your life easier or a living hell. It’s up to you.”

If I were to bet on it, I’d say they start turning shortly after his inauguration.

I don’t think so, Right Turn. The MSM is Obama’s helicopter parent… always hovering nearby and ready to bail him out at the first sign of trouble. Post-inauguration, the primary function of the MSM will be to tell us we are not at war with Eurasia, the chocolate ration has always been 5 grams, and rally us for the two-minutes hate against Emmanual Goldstein Sarah Palin.

Asking what newspapers someone reads isn’t a tough question like some of the ones Biden got.

And quoting Karl Marx is terrible journalism.

However Joe Biden is a fucking idiot who doesn’t know what his own platform means. He supports spreading the wealth, yet he accused Bush of doing it with tax cuts. Spreading the wealth would involve TAKING MONEY and GIVING IT TO OTHER PEOPLE, and tax cuts involve NOT TAKING MONEY.

And isn’t it ironic how libtards moan and bitch and whine that “our civil rights are taken away” by conservatives, but their own Messiah and his Chia Pet Acolyte threaten to cancel any further discussions on a major media outlet if the reporterette even DARES to question The One?

Who exactly is threatening whose civil rights again?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again until the ObamaNazis take me away to their re-education camp: Hypocrisy, thy name is liberalism.

    Regards,
    Peter H.

correct me if I’m wrong (and I may be), but didn’t Obama pay ACORN some $800,000 to collect registrations? Biden said that Obama had no connection with ACORN.

True, I am vague here, but it seems to me he told lie after lie in that interview.

Obama”s campaign also paid more than 800,000 dollars to a group called Citizens Services Inc., an ACORN subsidiary, to “augment” Obama”s grassroots organizing efforts in the Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania primaries.

Maybe “subsidiary” is what Joe’s leaning on in his answer.

Quoting Marx may not be big-league journalism but the question was fair. I don’t expect much from the “big leagues” these days.

I love this anchor!! She made my day.

I may agree with Right Turn as far as the media turning on him. It won’t happen right away. But they did turn on the Clintons during the sex scandal.

But I’m just being hypothetical. We all know he’s not going to win. 😉

Quoting Karl Marx is terrible journalism? Why?

19th century socialism is the origin of the Democrat’s thinking, not the classical liberalism of the Founding Fathers. That makes quoting Marx perfectly appropriate.
