I am struck that so very, very few Obamunists can actually articulate any way that his policies (reheated leftovers from the Carter Era, for the most part), will be good for America. Indeed, most of the cult portrays their support for The One as a repudiation of Bush and conservatives. A few others deny his actual policies will be as radical as the agenda he has laid out or that his history would indicate. Those very few who assert that the One will be good for America can only cite that his election will be a symbolic repudiation of racism, and finally atone for slavery. Firstly, that seems unrelated to whether his regime will provide good policy, and second, it overlooks the reality that The One is not descended from slaves.

The incomparable Mark Steyn:
The Obamacons — that’s to say, conservatives hot for Barack- - justify their decision to support a big-spending big-government Democrat with the most liberal voting record in the Senate by “hoping” that he doesn’t mean it, by “hoping” that he’ll “change” in office. “I sure hope Obama is more open, centrist, sensible,” declared reformed conservative Ken Adelman, “than his liberal record indicates.”

He’s “hoping” that Obama will buck not just Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, and the rest of the gang but also his voting record, his personal address book, and his entire adult life. Good luck betting the future on that. The “change” we’ll get isn’t hard to discern: An expansion of government, an increase in taxes, a greater annexation of the dynamic part of the economy by the sclerotic bureaucracy, a reduction in economic liberty . . . oh, and a lot more Chicago machine politics.

2 thoughts: I watched PJTV and wish Dan could be more relaxed. (I know, this is the post Brownie Camera age, but really Dan must have been photographed since he was a couple of hours old, ... and try smiling, gently smirking...)
and
I think a lot of Californians are going to be confused as which is "yes" and which is "no". But that is just me.
