They’re far too busy pretending to investigate ACORN in 14 states to send a team to pretend to investigate the recounts too. Plus, they are short-handed at the moment since the 700 U.S. Attorneys that were assigned to bring Scooter Libby to justice are still on vacation since that decision was handed down. They should be back in four or five months. Then, you’ll really see these voter fraud investigations ramp up–with the extra manpower, those cases will go straight from the “brainstorming/talk about it with colleagues stage” to the “writing some things down on a legal pad” stage.

Who do we turn to for honest elections? I’d use the term “banana republic” but I think some central and south American countries have better systems than we do.

And why isn’t the Justice Department investigating this stuff?

There’d probably be fewer shenanigans if some prison terms were handed out.

I have some, albeit hesitant, faith in the voting system in MN. I was an election judge for several years and we have a fairly cut and dry system here (i.e. no hanging chads, thank god). There’s a paper trail and it’s pretty much a given what the intent of the voter is. Does that mean that some lawyer can’t argue to a sympathetic judge? Of course not…but we have our shit in order pretty well up here, even though we’re an incredibly liberal state.

Then again, we’re talking about Franken here. He’s the epitome of our state bird…the Loon.

I’m reminded of all the Americans I’ve met who say they prefer Scandinavian, Third Way socialism to our form of government, particularly after they’ve spent a few expensive days of their vacations in that part of the world (but haven’t actually lived there). I always ask when they’re planning to move and they smile and decline — and they vote.

It’s been going on for years. My mother in Central Connectict used to complain of the NYers moving in, increases taxes and demanding more city services, then moving out as the economy changed and everything fell apart.

One day conservative will learn you can only play by the rules if the other guy does too.

NH has been getting Mass refugees for years-which is why you can see our state turning blue and so soundly blue.

I have said repeatedly that I can handle the McCain loss-Obama ran a good campaign and played well to the center (even though I don’t believe his play). But John Sununu did not deserve to lose-he has been a great senator for the state and a great representative for conservatism and one willing to fight his own party when needed. Now have Jeanne Shaheen who will go to the senate and play yes man to every liberal proposal of the democrats. Didn’t like her as governor and I don’t want her as my senator. Poor Gregg is the lonely republican left from my state and his head will probably roll in next.

On a side note, one of the bigger challenges conservatives face is the liberal infestation of conservative stronghold states. Liberals who voted themselves and their respective states into taxation and inflated government oblivion are leaving their overpriced enclaves and heading to less expensive conservative environs. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut liberals are all moving to North Carolina. Libs from Vermont and Massachusetts are fleeing high taxes (which they voted for) and heading to tax-free New Hampshire. Maryland and Delaware libs are moving to New Jersey, while Cali libs are now infesting Nevada. And like most liberals they refuse to acknowledge that their voting and their public officials are what ruined the states they left in the first place. Now they’re off to spread their good cheer and wrecking what were long time good things in historically conservative states.

If anything good came out of these defeats for the Republicans, it proved that pandering to “the other side of the isle” is political suicide. Let’s be honest: McCain was not the ideal candidate for conservatives. In fact, he drove me nuts. It’s time we start galvanizing.

Looks like they have already stolen Oregon. My 24 hours of peace have ended – not that I expected anything else.

I’m hoping that Minnesota is not the North West, but seeing how many people actually cast a vote for Franken – nothing will surprise me.

I was going to say, expect Al Franken to steal it from Norm Coleman. All they have to do is get a few provisional ballots included in the recount (as htey did here in WA) or “find” some previously uncounted ballots (as htey did here in WA), and talk about counding all the votes, and poof, they have another Democrat in the Senate.

I expect Darcy Burner to try to steal the election from my congressman Dave Reichert again as well.
