"teed up for a Supreme Court appointment"

Do you think even with the Dem majority that her nomination would actually go through?

She could contest it, but she'd lose again. The only time a party overthrows a President-in-power is when he himself knows he can't win, like LBJ in 1967. Obama is too self-inflated, and his advisors too determined, for him ever to arrive at that knowledge. So he'd fight her to the end, do whatever it takes, and beat her down - even if he loses in the general. Come 2016, she'll be too old - and a two-time loser.

How is Clinton a loser? She's perfectly set up to be a leader in the Senate or teed up for a Supreme Court appointment. She has a solid power base and effectively moved perception of herself as defender of the white conservative base of the Democratic Party. Just a year ago, she was portrayed as an ultra left, closeted lesbian possible murderess of Vince Foster.

Hillary made 70 campaign appointments for Obama. She has the whole 18 million cracks.

No tears for Hillary.

No, the real loser is Bill Clinton. He's toast.

---

Speaking of people who are hated, the long knives are out for Palin. The McCain loyalist are trashing her. Yesterday on Bill O'Reilly, it was reported that Palin couldn't name the countries in North America, didn't realize Africa was a continent, and she was a shopoholic.

Where does the Palin hatred come from? McCain friends, apparently.

We'll see.

When the inevitable backlash comes... (i.e. when Obama can't live up to the impossible expectations) things will look a bit different. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Hillary could contest the nomination in four years...

Well I think female canidates are big losers too, Hillary and Palin both came under much heavier fire than Obama or Biden. I don't see why any women would want to willing walk into this media firestorm that happens. They are either too pretty, too ugly, too power hungry, too weak...its just not fair for them.

Gays are also big losers, we pretty had a defeat of all gay issues as in 2004. I'm not sure what hope and change did for us cause we didn't win any measures last night

One of the headlines I read this morning: "Expectations vs. Reality". Everyone knows Obama isn't ready but the question is how long are they willing to forgive? How long will it be before the First Black President is fair game for criticism? I suspect there's going to be a lot of codespeak and eggshells, a lot of forgiveness, a lot of rationalizing that the symbol of Obama is worth our suffering, a lot of fawning press conferences with anxious "journalists" who laugh loudly and nervously at every one of Obama's jokes, look terribly concerned and empathetic when he's faced with difficulty, and coo with every appearance of his family. The veneer of Camelot is going to be very, very shiny.

I actually wish Obama well. I don't hope he stumbles because the rest of us will feel the result if he does. But if he's successful by his own terms, I hope that the people will see clearly who and what he is and stands for and I hope the Republicans take advantage by emphasizing a viable, common sense alternative.

I'm already designing my "Don't Blame Me -- I Voted McCain/Palin" t-shirt.

Sorry, the story I heard about Rahm Emanuel was on Rush yesterday AM and it was a steak knife. (Not a butcher knife.) Rahm stabbing the table and crying "Dead!", back in the Clinton days, over each figure he thought had betrayed the Clintons.

I think the American people are the biggest unspoken losers.

I continue to be stunned by people's depth of *fantasy* about Barack Obama. At an employee all-hands meeting yesterday, people who are otherwise intelligent - people who should know better - explained to me how Obama is going to bring Republicans into His cabinet and really make sure the country will be run by the best and brightest and all of the best ideas. I said, no, I don't really think so; his background is the Chicago political machine and if you look at his inner circle, it's hardcore partisans. I said this in a 3-person conversation and was met with one outright denial, like the person just could not process the information, and one sheepish-you-might-be-right-but-I'm-going-to-hope-Obama-will-be-OK type of denial. Ironically, the news had just come out (but they may not have heard) that *Rahm Emanuel*, hardcore partisan who allegedly gives political "revenge" speeches with a butcher knife in his hand, is The Messiah's first and most critical appointment: White House Chief of Staff.

My latter companion, who had shown a shred of realism and independence, said, people say Obama is radical but don't you think we need radical right now? I said, No; I mean, it depends what "radical" is. If "radical" means we get Washington spending under control then let's do it, but if it turns out to mean we raise the top income tax rate from 39% to 70%, that would spell economic disaster. Again she blanched a little and said you-might-be-right-but-He's-gotta-be-better-than-that.

The Three Stooges are in charge now - Obama, Pelosi, and Reed. It is going to be a disaster. Will the American people admit in 4 years (as with Carter), or will it take 8? People *want* Obama to succeed - because he's the First Black President. Are we about to have decades of insane denial from people, as American society sputters along, barely functioning?
