Operation Gratitude: Care Packages for Our Troops

December 10, 2008 by Average Gay Joe

Only a few days left. The 400,000th care package will go out this weekend. An excellent group of volunteers dedicated to helping our troops. This is especially important at this time of year with Christmas only 16 days away. If you can spare a few dollars, please give generously!

h/t – Ace of Spades for reminding me

Just a reminder to everyone: If you have a few spare bucks, Toys for Tots is running low this year. They’ve had to close some distribution spots due to lack of interest and money. Please donate a couple of new, unwrapped toys if you can. Bringing a smile to the face of a needy child who could use a bit of joy feels great! (And you might meet a really hot Marine, too.)

I’ve been volunteering with Operation Gratitude since the early days. This is a wonderful volunteer run organization.
This is where you see all the beautiful Americans come out and do good for our military.
I’ll be there this weekend, working away and loving every minute of it.

I usually take a bunch of toys down to our local Service Recruiting Area (all 4 branches represented) and ask that they be given to children whose parents are fighting overseas.

For those of you in the greater Houston area, it’s located off of OST and Fannin, right near Reliant Stadium.

    Regards,

Good recommendations! And even if you dont have any money to spare, you can still visit AmericaSupportsYou.mil and send a holiday greeting to the troops.

Operation Gratitude was amazing today. So many wonderful took the time to lend their support. Even Kathy Ireland was there, who I have to admit I’ve had a crush on for a long time. Its nice to know that even in a time when things are hard people still care about others, especially our troops.
