Kevin, homosexuality was common in both the Roman and Greek cultures of that day. And Judea and Galliee were dominated by both cultures. It was practiced in their temples. There is no way that Jesus could have not been aware of the practice of older men taking younger boys to be their sexual companions. The Jewish religion heavily condemned it. But Jesus said nothing about it. One common practice among the Roman Army was that Centurions often had young boys that were their sexual lovers. One such Centurion had a boy who he loved very much who became deathly ill. the Centurion sought out Jesus to ask Jesus to heal his boy. Jesus healed the boy and said nothing about any sexual activity the Centurion had with the boy.

Cecil,

Just a quibble: I don't remember Jesus dealing with homosexuality at all, unless you take His statement that the Law is not changed. Just curious on your reference?

Merry Christmas.

"You are aware that the book you are quoting hate gay people with a passion, right?"

First, you must realize that the book you refer to is a collection of writings from many different authors over thousands of years. Much of the writings reflect the beliefs and traditions of people from different cultures far removed from our own and must be understood in that context.
The Jesus story and the teachings of Jesus are only contained in Four of the books of the Bible, Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. And there you will find that Jesus made no mention of gays. He only proclaimed that God loved ALL people. Jesus was confronted with homosexuality and declined to condemn it.
A book so complicated as the Bible has been studied from many angles and viewpoints by thousands and thousands of Biblical scholars and have produced hundreds of different denominations and groups with differing conclusions as to what the Bible teaches. Modern scholars do not believe that the Bible actually condemns homosexuality per se. Of course, one may draw your own conclusion as to who is right and who is wrong.
But there is no dispute that Jesus did not condemn homosexuality.
The Jesus story is one of love and forgiveness. It proclaims that God loves all men and has provided the ultimate and final sacrifice for the sins of men and given to all peoples the forgiveness of God. And Jesus taught that we should love all men, even as God loves us...a perfect prescription for peace on earth and goodwill towards all men. Whether or not we believe the historical accuracy of the Jesus story, it is worthy direction for all our lives.
Happy Chanuka and Merry Christmas to all GayPatriot staff and readers and especially to you, PatriotMom.

GP Ed. Note: I am only keeping this up to illustrate the hateful, anti-Christian bias of the American Left. Otherwise, I do not tolerate Christian-bashing here. Especially on Christmas.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.' That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."
