The faux Liberal patriotism I saw yesterday on television was gross and disgusting. Your true colors were evident and bled through your facade.
One does not love their country based on which political party rules. Yet for American Liberals, that is exactly what they have been doing since Richard Nixon was elected.
Democrat = Good and True; Republican = evil and illegitimate.

With nearly 2 million people turning out to support the inauguration of Obama and see the exit of the Bush who is probably the most hated president in history, it’s not surprising that a few people in the crowd were being less than gracious towards him.
Perhaps we might reflect now on the less than gracious Republicans who showed up at McCain/Palin rallies, some calling for violence against the Democrats? Or how about McCain being drowned out by the same types of people during his concession speech?
I think the Dow Jones shows how the country really feels having an untested President. Yesterday’s close was the lowest ever for an inauguration day.
This has nothing to do with being a sore loser. It has to do with the person who won figuring out how to disguise his true objectives.
Here’s how it works Kevin: when even one liberal does something considered wrong he/she represents all liberals, when one conservative does something wrong he/she represents only a “fringe” group.

1. Ask yourself this question: “Come this time next year, how many of the aforementioned “nearly 2 million people” will have lost their jobs or be working for less than what they’re making now?
2. If Bush was “probably the most hated president in history,” explain to the rest of the class, a) who did all the hating, b) why they hated him, and c) was that hate really deserved? Don’t make assertions and then expect the rest of us to accept them at face-value.
3. Washington was “hated.” Lincoln was “hated.” Truman was “hated.” What is their standing among historians now?
4. If you see a “1.20.13” bumpersticker on the back of a car, from here on out how do you think you’ll feel? Will you be able to identify in any way with the driver in front of you?
5. If Bush was such a failure, why are you still alive?
Let’s see Dave, *your* party lets it’s members get away with tax evasion (Charlie Rangel and Tim Geithner). Your party excuses sleazy sexual behavior of the kind that gets Republicans hounded out of office. Gillie, I am sick and tired of those who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.
Funny, I just wrote something almost identical on another site just a while ago, and its not the first time. Isn’t it amazing how many liberals need this explained to them. Just like Obama, who once wore the American flag on his lapel, and stopped because he disagreed with the policies of the duly elected president.
Liberals fail to see that this is not only not patriotic, it is un-American, and I don’t use that term often.
The very premise of our nation is that we will argue, debate, make our respective cases and then vote — but we remain a nation win or lose.

Nor is Bush the most hated president in history. A poll just last week shows that over 70% of Americans think he is a good man. His approval ratings are low. They are not the same thing. Again, only you and Dave and your ilk hate him, because you are filled with hate.
Those stories were lies disproven by the secret service who said they could find zero evidence to corroborate any of it. You would know that if you ever bothered to question any of the lefts talking points.

When Hollywood starts making movies about assassinating Obama, when entire television series are devoted to bashing Obama, when leaders of the Republican party call Obama a loser and an idiot, when newspapers like the Washington Post publish articles explaining why it’s okay to hate Obama, when schoolteachers and college professors assign homework requiring students to bash Obama, … then the dimmer twins might begin to have a point.

Rank and file onservatives have praised and supported President Bush when he made good decisions and have had the courage to criticize his bad decisions, i.e. amnesty for illegals, the bailout. For the liberals their officials can do no wrong. Harry Reid called Geitner´s failure to pay his taxes for six years a hiccup. Six years is no hiccup; it´s vomit. For tax year 2005 through no fault of my own, but because the Post Office failed to send my change of address to the computer center a couple of W-2´s was never received. Moreover, thirty days after filing the IRS sent me a refund for overpayment. In 2007, I received a letter that I had understated my income. When I learned the sources, verified mail returned and obtained copied I paid the tax, penalty and interest. That was a hiccup. If I were to return to the U.S. and were to seek public office I would not be afraid to bet the libs would tar and feather me for my hiccup.
What kills me is Obama is so against the booing and hatred, the “na na na” BS that the hatemongers spew. His whole message about change was much more about working together and ending the last 16 years of escalating conflict between the two sides.
Thats the biggest reason I like Obama, he’s not like so many other people I know. I didn’t vote for him, but you know he’s not a bad guy like Pelosi, Reid, and so many of my friends in the theater community here (which is almost like a different world)
But most people that claim to follow Obama don’t get it, they want to continue the hate, it’s not about what’s best, it’s about putting the other side down.

My parents were at that Palin rally in Florida, in the 4th row right in front of her. If anyone did say that crap my parents did not hear it. But I doubt my own parents would lie to me about what they heard.

Looking tired and exhaused from all the fancy balls last night. Todays prayer service was limited to invitation only and was a gathering of only the most elite of the Washington DC crowd. Well I for one plan to give Obama as much repsect an support as all the people on the left gave Bush.
So all of you lefties out there can think about how you acted and know how I will act.
I have no problem with someone looking forward to the next election. But the Republicans are in greater political trouble than many of you care to realize. For the last 40 years, the Republicans have made themselves the party of racial backlash. (Krugman pointed this out recently in a New York Times piece.) Year after year it was the same script. It played something like this – “There is YOU and then there are those OTHER people.” That has been the modus operandi for the Repulican Party since Nixon. The “others” have morphed from time to time, from blacks to gays to illegal immigrants. But the strategy has remained constant.
But this election was no ordinary election. The Democrats ran a black man with an ethnic sounding name. In short, they ran right at the Republican ace that’s been played against them time and again. And no doubt, all the coded language was back. Yet this time it didn’t work. And it’s not that it didn’t work because the Democrats were running a southern bubba like Bill Clinton. It didn’t work against a black man named Barack Obama.
Thus, the strategy is now dead. America has reached a tipping point where that old well-worn strategy won’t work anymore. And that’s a problem for the Republicans. You have to re-brand yourself now. I think that will take awhile.
VtheK, sorry but what you’re talking about (e.g., wishing cancer on Bush and wanting prosecutions for war crimes) is not what Bruce is talking about. Bruce was whining about liberals singing the chorus of a song as Bush flew away in a helicopter (“nah-nah-nah-nay-hey-hey-hey-good bye”) and booing him when he appeared on stage. He referenced inauguration day 2013 and asked liberals how it felt, presumably thinking of the bumper stickers some liberals had referring to today. His previous post, thinking he had something of a “gotcha” with a witty turn of phrase, referenced a bumper sticker that turned the liberal bumperstick of “question authority” into “question obama”. Bruce’s issues are much more mundane than torture and the wishing of fatal illnesses on people. It’s petty and silly, but it is his right and liberals really don’t care get upset when he exercises it because we’re the ones who fight for his right to do so.
Gene, I predict that in 2009, an army of women (including Oprah) and self-appointed, brain-dead fashion hauteurs will make fools of themselves pretending the ‘Mrs. Witch-King of Angmar” look is somehow attractive, providing retrospective merriment for generations to come, like today with the shoulder pads and big hair of the 80s.

P.S. I love Erik’s rant at #42. It shows how out-of-touch and clueless he is. I can’t think of the last time Republicans tried to play any race cards. (1972?) Most race-baiters in America are liberals. Now that we have a mixed-race guy as President, the moral steam will go out of the race-baiting (that is, liberal) movement. Watch. The big issue in 2012 will be Obama’s 20% annual inflation rates and crushing tax increases to pay the new, high interest rates on his debt/deficits.
No need to worry, Erik; what this election demonstrated is that liberals like yourself use skin color as an excuse for criminal activity, as you did with Kwame Kilpatrick, as you’re doing with Charlie Rangel, and as you’re doing now with Barack Obama.
Do you think Obama would have won had people realized that he supports racist black preachers who pray at his inaguration about how Asians need to be “mellow” and how white people are always wrong? Bruce’s comments are not a surprise. He and, to a lesser extent, Dan have always — along with the “regulars” who post comments — made it clear that only “conservatives” are patriots. That idea belongs in “Fantasyland” where Dan spent Inauguration Day.
Among the “regulars” the hardliners (like V the K, North Dallas Thirty, I Love Capitalism, American Elephant, et al) believe only their opinions count, that there is no room for honest debate about issues. Now that is really contrary to American ideals.

Show me the lib who says that even with her imperfections, America is still far better than any other country in the world, and who wants to make America better without abandoning our founding principles, and who is willing to put the best interests of the country ahead of personal or political power, and who respects the right of conservatives to disagree and can make an argument without lying about the conservative agenda or their own, and that liberal may be called a patriot.

Off-topic: The openly-gay Mayor of Portland, Ore. (the largest U.S. city to elect a homosexual as Mayor) is now admitting he had a sexual relationship with a kid he used to mentor several years ago.

We on the right need to realize that we can defeat these guys by simply not helping out. We need to go all “John Gault”.
Hollywood studios are in trouble and the actors hate us. Answer stop going to movies. Stay home or be with friends and family. Stop going out to eat, again stay home learn to cook invite friends over. Take up a do-it-yourself hobby, some skill that you can trade off work with other people.
If we do all these things and other stuff like it, we will have a huge impact on the economy.
We need to remember that the left needs the complete and whole hearted participation of the right in order for their plans to work. We need to stop helping them. If Obama proceeds with his plans to run up the deficit and socialize the economy, he will have broken with the principles of our founding fathers. If he compromises American sovereignty or security in order to curry favor with foreign powers, that would mean he does not take the uniqueness of America seriously.
In his pursuit of power, he has used unethical methods to remove his opponents from the ballot, unethical and possibly illegal methods of fundraising, broken his pledge to public financing, and gotten in bed with corrupt organizations like ACORN. I do not think it is patriotic to disregard laws and ethics in the pursuit of power.
I also note his followers chant his name, and not “U-S-A.” And I find it unpatriotic for a man to put himself above his country. (To my knowledge, he has never reprimanded his followers for their religious-like devotion, or at least told them to knock it off.)
He has also sought out and befriended avowed enemies of this country like William Ayres and Bernardine Dohrne.
I think Barack Obama is obsessed with himself, and he has shown a pattern of putting his self-interest above ethics, and above the good of the country. To me, this is not patriotic.

His was elected to a third term only because the country was at war in 1941 and the people wanted him to keep America out of the european theatre. Imagine 8 years of over 20% unemployment. Absolutely, but the majority of the “examples” of conditional love for this country by liberals that I have seen on conservative blogs were pure conjecture. Fact is, unless someone actually acts against this country (which is not the same as acting in ways that “conservatives” disagree with) you have no clue what they feel.
