Um, Stephen, do a little googling before you write. Just by typing Republicans Against 8 into the search engine yields this as the first hit: Republicans Against 8.

How do you know that outreach to conservatives won't work? Have you talked to any? As to Palin, please tell me what about her is representative of what is wrong with the conservative movement?

And she does not lend herself as easy to ridicule as does the man she bested in St. Louis, the man who is, alas, our Vice President. Go check her record before mocking her and compare her accomplishments to those of the president.

And yes, Stepehen, Andrew Sullivan has become a liberal.

I was at the Summit and specifically sat towards the front near the projector so I could easily read the material displayed. I also had the advantage of plugging in my laptop easily to the obviously available power. I wish you had sat up there with us as I would have greatly enjoyed a discussion with you about gay conservatives.

To answer some of your questions, I don't think there were any gay Republicans on the panels because I don't think there was any Republican leadership active in the fight on Prop 8. I would welcome any information about such a creature. About the best I saw was a statement from Arnold against it, but he was hardly doing much to stop it. I don't think we expected many right-of-center people because there aren't that many to expect. I don't meet many Jews at my Quaker meeting, either. It happens, but it isn't my expectation. As the data shows, only 19% of Republics voted No on 8.

I was one of the people who didn't stand or applaud when the leadership indicated they did the best they could. I am sure they did, but it was clearly not good enough. Geoff Kors, however, seemed to get what went wrong and he did apologize for it. I grew more impressed with him as the day went on. Like leads to success like learning from failure.

I don't think we plan much outreach to conservatives. They aren't very receptive to the outreach and I think those resources will return more if used to focus more moderate voters. I think resources put into reaching out to the religious and minority communities would return considerably more. We make fun of Palin because she so easily lends herself to it and is representative of much that is wrong with the conservative movement these days. When Forbes thinks Andrew Sullivan is a liberal, and even conservative bloggers disavow Bush, I think we liberals can be confused over just who and what is conservative and not.

I didn't read about McCain asking people to vote no on Prop 8, but Obama did.

Regardless of the fact that our legal status affects all of us, I feel no sense of community with gays. I never have, not even when I was first coming out, and I never will. Just because you are also gay does not make you my brother. I have no brothers. I have two younger sisters.

#1: Unfortunately, the knee-jerk cries of "racism" will start immediately. Even broaching the subject of widespread minority homophobia brings up bogus claims about "gay racism", almost uniformly using white gays as examples; there are also condemnations of the straw man of "gay white privilege". This is the six-year-old's argument: "he did it too!"

Wow, if you ask me, it sounds like she was pretty rude to you! They must be in an echo chamber. We need to shake them out of it and bring back the real meaning of diversity. Enough is enough already. I am so over the gay community in LA.

Liberalism is a hive mentality broken down into subsets. In reality, they are so broken down that they eventually will eat each other. The truth is, the blacks and hispanics (both large democrat blocks) are the ones who voted in favor and because of them Cali has prop 8. The only straight people I know who voted against prop 8 were white people (both conservative and liberals). The gay people, however, want a common enemy (republicans) and the image of the straight, christian, white male works just fine (Mormons). The truth is they have to reach out to hispanics and blacks, and this just does not fit well in their idea of America. Another problem is the media. As long as the MSM (a liberal institution) insists on showing men dressed as butterflies skipping down the street in a pride parade, rather than responsible, successful gay people, then the homosexual community will never make any real gains. Leaders also have to take to task that they do not intend on forcing children to learn about homosexuality and have no interest in ad naseum litigation used to force people to accept their lifestyle. And, believe it or not, this attitude has to be forced down the throats of the black and hispanic communities, not the white ones.
