Worst NBC Super Bowl Coverage Moments

2nd runner-up – Al Roker.  Why?

Winner, and Worst Man In The World - Keith Olbermann.   Hey, NBC Sports.   Keep “Mr. Dyspeptic” on your left-wing radical “news” cable channel.  Don’t ruin my football with this jackass.

Worst Moment Yet-To-Come: Springsteen at halftime. [RETRACTED:  See comment #18]

Go Cardinals.

  1. The rim-job I mean interview of Obama right before the game is pretty bad.

  2. Seperate the politics from the art

Have you listened to Nebraska? There are some major winners on that albulm

  3. The album Nebraska has nothing to do with the actual Nebraska. We’re really not that sad or ignorant here. It is the left-wing liberal idea of what we in flyover country must be like–hopelessly trapped in our meaningless, non-urban existence without the existential sophistication a trip to the East or West Coast would bring. Hey, guys, we too have Starbucks.

    Bruce’s setlist:

    Born in Obama
    Born to Obama
    Hungry Obama
    Dancing in the Obama

  4. watching Leann Rimes on CMT for half time.

Not much for modern country, but better than Bruce.

  5. #3 hey I live in flyover country. But that is still a great albulm

  6. Gotta say Bruce at halftime was pretty damn good, maybe the best we’ve seen at a halftime show in years. I was very, very pleasantly surprised at how good he did.

My bigger complaint- why do they keep bringing people to the Superbowl halftime shows who hit their peak 20+ years ago? Has there been no good music since Rattle and Hum or something?

  7. Ever since the infamous waldrobe malfunction in 2004, the Super Bowl halftime show has sucked. No one who might qualify as a sex symbol can perform. Seriously, how many washed up old men can they find?! I suppose next year we’ll be punished with The Eagles or Garth Brooks.

    Comment by Erik — February 1, 2009 @ 11:34 pm - February 1, 2009

  8. It really is like we are being collectively punished as a result of the 2004 show. When will our punishment be over?! I like current, popular music. When can someone who is under 30 be on the halftime show again? When can we have a female performer again? When is enough, enough?!

Why can’t they just put the halftime show on a one minute tape delay, instead of inviting aging pop stars who haven’t had a hit song in 20 years?

    I hate it.

  10. I watched the Puppy Bowl instead of the Super Bowl Has-been Show. A lot more entertaining.

  11. I agree we have to separate politics from football. It was in bad taste to show the O interview.
I am so sorry that the Cardinals couldn’t keep it together. Perhaps, if they hadn’t declined getting the football in the beginning, we would have had a touchdown first.

  12. I switched to the Wipe Out Bowl before Springsteen came on and never went back to the game. I’d seen what I considered the best play ever, anyway. I consider myself extremely lucky to have missed the jug-eared commie (as my hubby calls him) and the old lefty nitwit singer. NBC is now blocked again on our DVR. You can see all the ads online, anyway.

  13. Did I hear wrong, or did the Steeler’s owner thank Obama?

Did you not see Prince last year??!?!!?! Purple rain in the rain and that guy can play the g-tar!

  14. gillie, the owner of the Steeler’s blew huge $$$ into the Obama campaign. He was one of many liberal, democrat billionaire industrialists, bankers, investors, fat cats, tycoons, moguls, etc. who stoked the Obama fires.

The thanks to Obama for the Super Bowl win was totally incongruous unless you understand that he places The Obama at the top of his deity list. You probably understand how Obama caused the Steelers to win. Thanks, but no thanks, I don’t need to have it explained to me.

Doesn’t it just kill you that Rush Limbaugh is such a huge Steelers fan? If he were a proper bigot, he would boycott excellence because the owner is an Obama boy.

  15. It’s probably pointless to say this, but Paul McCartney was the best. Without McCartney, neither Bruce nor Prince would exist. Even Dylan says that the only artist he’s jealous of is McCartney.

  17. Tom Petty’s show was good, too.

And don’t forget the Kitten Half Time Show at the Puppy Bowl.

    Loved the “tailgaters.”

  18. Yes, the halftime show was good. Springsteen did very well. I take back my “Worst Moment To Come” award.

But we also switched to the Wipeout Bowl on ABC. We LOVE that show!!!

And I forgot about the Puppy Bowl… we watched it last year.

    Comment by GayPatriot — February 2, 2009 @ 6:21 pm - February 2, 2009

  19. I turned over to watch some of the pre-game, but the first person I saw was Olbermann. I immediately turned to the puppy bowl until the regular game broadcast started.

If you haven’t seen olbermannwatch.com, you should take a look. Brian Kilmeade relates how Olbermann saw him and turned and went the direction he came from. Brian also called him a whackjob. This was on the “after the show show” not their regular show.

    Harrison’s 100 yd. TD?

    What’s a Wipe Out Bowl?

And I forgot about the Puppy Bowl… we watched it last year.

Yeah, but there this TOO cute white lab that was a lot more fun to watch. That “ref” has got to go though.

  21. #7 when the baby boomers die and no longer make up the biggest demographic

Baby boomers aren’t even in the advertisers primary demo anymore – the 18-49 age demographic . That’s the target group advertisers most care about. Younger people buy more stuff than older people.

Ummm, Prince has been a has-been for my entire conscious memory. All his hits occurred when I was an infant. He hasn’t written a good song in 20-25 years.

  24. My Super Bowl take (with a grain of salt):

Puppy Bowl was good. Not great, but enjoyable.

The Coke Zero commercial that re-created the “Mean Joe Greene” commercial was priceless.

The Pepsi commercial that was a take-off on “MacGyver” was hideous. Whoever thought up that commercial should be fired immediately.

I don’t like Springsteen (and never have), so I 86′d the halftime show.

The last quarter of the game was a classic.

    Regards,
    Peter H.
