Obama Is Mortal After All; Approval Rating Crashing

Awwwwww, poor angry liberals.  Your Messiah is suffering from a dose of realism by the American public.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Approval Index for Tuesday shows that 37% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing as President. That’s the lowest total to Strongly Approve of Obama at any point while he has been President-elect or President. Twenty-two percent (22%) Strongly Disapprove to give Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +15.

And this tidbit from Gallup:

Public satisfaction with the state of the nation remains in short supply just over a week after President Barack Obama was sworn in. Only 17% of Americans are satisfied with the way things are going in the country in Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Jan. 27-29; 80% are dissatisfied.

EIGHTY PERCENT.  The honeymoon is OVAH.  THAT didn’t take long!

Barack — we have a problem.  Obamaniacs, please fasten your seat belts; there are exits in the front and rear of this Administration and in every ethics loophole your President can find; brace yourself for impact.

  1. Honeymoon? What hone moon? The country has been getting more and more dissatisfied since 2001. This was not a case of people suddenly getting dissatisfied when Obama got in, the slide has been going on for many many years now. In fact it’s almost starting to pick up, although that’s just speculation.

That “strongly approve” graph is also misleading – what about the people who only approve, but not strongly? 41% of the people surveyed don’t show up, what if 30% disapprove? Then he has, overall, disapproval amongst the public. What if more than 13% approve? Then he has approval overall. The graph doesn’t tell the whole story

  2. When you promise to part the Red Sea, and you’re expected to part the Red Sea, and you don’t part the Red Sea — people will be disappointed.

But never fear, there’s the repeal of DADT on the horizon — maybe. Maybe not. Not.

  4. Huh? You think that because 80 percent are dissatisfied with the way things are going in the country, that translates into 80-percent disapproval of Obama????

You think that a week into his presidency, the American people expect to feel good about the tanking economy?

LOL! I see that you left this out:

“This 17% U.S. satisfaction rating is slightly better than the 13% rating seen at the start of January, as well as the 13% right before the presidential election in November, and reflects an uptick in satisfaction that occurred right after the inauguration. Still, satisfaction remains extraordinarily low relative to more prosperous times in the nation’s recent history — such as 1999 and 2002, when over 60% of Americans were satisfied.”

    And this:

    “Bottom Line

Negative feelings about the economy remain the primary driver of public attitudes about the country, and that is dampening the satisfaction scores of all Americans — Republican and Democratic alike. Nevertheless, the arrival of a new Democratic administration has changed attitudes at the margins, making Democrats and independents somewhat more upbeat than they had been prior to the election, and Republicans less satisfied. The net result is a slight overall increase in satisfaction.”

  6. You can’t approve of more abortions, close the camp off shore that houses 250 terrorists that want to repeat 9/11, pass a $900 billion dollar Democrat pork bill, nominate 4 OR MORE crooks to your administration, disdain lobbyists in govt, then hire dozens for your own inner circle, end wire tapping of terror calls into the USA …..and not have your approval ratings crash! And he’s just getting started. We have 1446 days of this left folks.

  7. You think that because 80 percent are dissatisfied with the way things are going in the country, that translates into 80-percent disapproval of Obama????

Well, you (I would bet) thought it about Bush.

What I came to say: Let’s not crow too soon; it will take awhile for Obama’s ratings to slip below Bush’s. Bush was popular for several years, remember. The economy will temporarily get a little better in either the second half of this year, or (at the latest) in 2010. Keynesianism and inflation of the money supply “work” – in the short run. Obama’s 20% approval ratings will come when 20% inflation rates come, perhaps around 2011. Don’t be discouraged in the coming year or two when his economic policies seem to be “working” (but really are laying the foundations for his demise).

Bambi’s approval rating shows that “buyer’s remorse” has not set in among the swooned. True. But Bambi’s approval rating also shows that he has not had any magic in “bringing us together” under the his spell of “hope and change” that the super superior community organizer promised.

Here is a little something for Mikado to chew on. Bambi is going to postpone all the socialist milk and honey he promised. He said so. Why? Because the economy stinks. Really? Well, when he does lay all the socialist milk and honey on us, what happens to the economy when it goes into a down turn with all that new entitlement weight that was piled on? H-m-m-m?

  12. You know if the country had elected another two or three crooked, tax cheat Democrats to the US Senate, this $900 billion Democrat pork bill would have passed the Democrat Congress and would be waiting for the Democrat President to sign it into law. Then what?

  15. I’m a pretty severe conservative, but I worry for our constant rants against Obama. The situation he stepped into stinks. I can remember working at UCSF in 2001 and being furious at their constant denigration of Bush BEFORE he even stepped into office. I feel that if Obama is moderate he will certainly infuriate everyone on the left, but that’s exactly what I would like to see of him. Let’s not give him reasons to pander to his insane leftist constituency.

    Comment by Carolynp — February 4, 2009 @ 3:59 pm - February 4, 2009

  16. If one is conservative, the left will always make them the enemy, no matter how rational or respectful that conservative is so ranting a little doesn’t concern me too much. Besides, given his moves so far, I feel the rants and concerns are justified. He’s going to pander to the insane leftist constituency regardless.

    Comment by Patriot Goddess — February 4, 2009 @ 4:59 pm - February 4, 2009

  17. So what has he done that’s moderate?

You know, before the election, most of my friends, even some republicans, talked about how he would ‘govern from the center’ and it was clear they’d bought into the negative bullshit about McCain (more of Bush, not really a war hero, rich bitch wife) and they wanted ‘change’. I asked them what made them think that he’s be remotely moderate, given Obama’s past voting record, his previous work experience, the way he was elected in Chicago, his friends, his affiliations. The answer was typically something along the lines of, ‘I just have a feeling’. Well now, those friends are feeling scared, foolish and more than a little deceived.

Though I was terribly disappointed that he won, I wasn’t surprised. I decided to be optimistic and ‘hoped’ that he’d be as bipartisan as he promised. Those hopes were quickly dashed and the horror set in as he systematically moved to weaken our defenses and further weaken our economy. I wish I was exaggerating when I said the sense of fear grows daily. This is the first time since the cold war nuke fears of my youth that I actually worry daily about our future. The only difference now is that my government is the main source of those fears and worries.

Hopeychangey has just announced that he wants to cut America’s ( already far undersized and incredibly overdue for replacement) deterrence arsenal by 80%… now, remember that the Russians have been spending an incredible amount of their European petrodollars on building a whole new generation of sea and land launched nuclear weapons…

You DID mention the Cold War, didn’t you?

  25. It’s not reasonable for anyone, even a messiah, to fix the stew we’re in after a couple of weeks. We spent years making this mess.

That being said… Kevin: what, pray tell, has Obama accomplished? Other than appointing a bunch of has-been Washington seat-warmers (many of whom don’t appear to believe that it’s their “patriotic duty to pay taxes”) and pushing a laundry list of expensive liberal prescriptions rolled up in the mother of all pork bills – it all looks the same to me.

Nothing novel or interesting (in a good way). I fear that he’s in over his head.
