Obama: Guilty of Bush’s Alleged Sins
Welcome Instapundit Readers!!. While you’re here, check my post on how Democrats believe their victory means that opposition to their policies must cease. And please help me find the best short summaries of the “stimulus.”
Once again, President Obama appears to be guilty of the sins of which his predecessor was accused, in many cases by those who would come to support the Democrat.
Commenting on the president’s praising the “patriotism” of Republicans backing a compromise “stimulus” package, John Hinderaker asks:
So, if the three Republicans who sided with the Democrats in the Senate are “patriotic,” what does that make the rest of the Senate Republicans, or the House Republicans who unanimously voted against the Democrats’ pork-fest? Unpatriotic? Isn’t that a natural inference?
In a similar vein, Tom Maguire wonders if the president is saying that “bill opponents are not patriotic? Or are less patriotic?” And he asks for “analogous examples” of such definitions of patriotism (as support for president’s proposals) “from the Bush era.”
For the record, I think he’ll be hard-pressed to find them in the statements of the former president.

If that is Obambi’s definition, then I guess I am unpatriotic.
But don’t question Obama’s bipartisanship

Of course, we would’t question it, William, because if we did, we’d be accused of questioning his patriotism.

Why not, Blackbeard? Paying taxes is the patriotic thing to do, according to Joe Buffoon, and Chairman Obama can’t seem to hire any who do.

Hey look the emperor wears no clothes.
Obama’s credentials are NOT in order.
His father was not an american citisen. Therefore the child was not a natural born citisen as required by our constitution to be president. He is no more than a usurper and fraud.

I’ll start to worry when be begins referring to the USA as “The Fatherland.” I think that day may not be far off.

Dissent is only patriotic when the other guys are in power.

Dissent is now the highest form of racism.

I’ve moved from being mildly hopeful about Obama to being repulsed. And this is just more proof of Dem projection. I never once heard Bush call anyone “unpatriotic” but it seems to be all the dems can do – shout “unpatriotic” and “treasonous” for simple disagreements. They’re really starting to sound like freaking brownshirts.
What the hell have we done?

Give me a fucking break. Do you idiots remember what you were saying about Obama’s patriotism when he wouldn’t put on a fucking flag pin?

I’m proud to be unpatriotic!

Levi, please find the reference because I don’t recall saying such a thing.

I remember liberal cock bites like you making up every absurd excuse you could. I also remember His Royal Assness wearing it in some places and not in others, depending on who the audience was.

Actually Levi, I believe it was President Obama who derided others for wearing a pin as a hollow show of patriotism.

The number of unemployed persons (11.6 million) and the unemployment rate (7.6 percent) rose in January. Over the past 12 months, the number of unemployed persons has increased by 4.1 million. The Department of Labor reported today that nonfarm payroll employment fell sharply in January (-598,000) and the unemployment rate rose from 7.2 to 7.6 percent. Payroll employment has declined by 3.6 million since the start of the recession in December 2007, …. most of this mess happening only in past three months! And some wonder Obama is pushing so hard for a stimulus package. The Herbert Hoover approach, do nothing, is all we need, leading us to a twelve year depression ??

I ran into Levi’s sister yesterday. For the past eight years, she had nothing but contempt for Bush and all she could speak of was how rotten he was and how he was taking the country down the crapper.
I told her that I have a few problems with Obama. She told me that she is sick of politics and will not talk about it. She just wants to get on with life and try to sort things out.
When I asked her if she was wavering on the Messiah, she launched into expletives born of frustration, disappointment and anger. That’s how I know she is Levi’s sister.

Yes! Now you understand! They are in fact unpatriotic.

Herbert Hoover started the spending spree. FDR continued it, after running against it.

Damn! Should read the comments before I post. Sorry to step on your line, Mr. Door!
Would it be churlish of me to remind all the Conservatives of all the charges of treason leveled against those who thought that Cheney took us to war based on false evidence? Prolly so.

Steele and the RNC need to send a strong, unequivocal message to Snow, Collins and Specter that when a Republican member of Congress does something that gets them a call from Obama thanking them for their “patriotism,” it’s time to start updating their resumes.
Comment by Sean A — February 9, 2009 @ 10:50 am - February 9, 2009
#22 – How exactly did CHENEY lead us into war, being the veep? Wouldn’t that be something like Biden sending troops into the Gaza strip?
And I suggest you re-read your history…it was multiple intelligence agencies from the UK, France, Israel and Russia that suggested that Saddam Hussein was rearming himself with WMDs.
Try again.

And Peter it was Democrats in Congress who wanted to approve the call to war so as to not look like weaklings. Now they try to rewrite history. And they can’t take credit for stopping the war OR freeing 50 million Arabs. Lead follow or get the hell out of the way goes the adage.
Comment by Gene in Pennsylvania — February 9, 2009 @ 11:23 am - February 9, 2009
Cheney is suppose to crawl away and keep his mouth shut according to the leftist media. While former Presidents Carter and Clinton were always criticising a sitting President. Setting new lows for unprofessionalism and unpatriotic former Presidents. Carter so much that he is hated by all the Clintonites.
Comment by Gene in Pennsylvania — February 9, 2009 @ 11:26 am - February 9, 2009
If we are hit again and it is because of Obamas lifting of terror protocals, Cheney should be hailed for “connecting the dots” and trying to warn us.
