Old Barney’s problem, Ignatius, is that he is a “professional homosexual”, much like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are “professional blacks”. As such, he gets judged, in large part, based upon that factor — and the group he “represents” gets judged based upon him.

This is as opposed to folks like my cousin — a police officer who happens to be a lesbian. Her sexual orientation is not her reason for being or a job qualification, and is therefore a non-issue.

I agree with North Dallas Thirty. Not only does Frank use being gay as a get out of jail free card, the gay left does as well. If anyone disagrees with Frank, they are called a homophobe. I have posted on other blogs about my lack of trust and support of Frank and have been called “self-loathing.” Apparently, because I’m gay, I have to support a gay Congressman who has played a huge part in the economic problems in this country.

With that said, I’m very glad that an openly gay man can serve in the US Congress. Lets just elect a better one.

That gays are somehow guilty (by the tenuous association of sexual orientation) of the shortcomings of Barney Frank in the narrow, undeveloped minds of some who engage in group-think doesn’t surprise me, but it does surprise me that there are gays who are so ready to agree. Anything he says and does reflects on me because we both happen to be attracted to men?

Gays won’t have matured until they accept that there are no ‘representatives’, only individuals; such tokenism is unfair to Frank (although he may consider himself as such — that’s his fault) and unfair to me by false association. There are good people and bad people who are gay and what any of them say or do whether admirable or not does not reflect on me.

I completely understand where the references to Bawney’s sexuality are coming from–he is the most prominent openly gay person in American politics as GPW mentioned. But it honestly has never occurred to me to discuss Fwank in terms of what an embarrassment he is to the gay community or how he’s giving gay people a bad name. When I see him or hear that sloppy gurgling thing he calls a voice advocating such vile policies his sexuality isn’t even on my radar (and it’s not just because he’s physically repulsive). I just see a person that I have absolutely nothing in common with and who stands for virtually everything that disgusts me. He may as well be a martian–someone who obviously doesn’t speak for me. I’m not concerned at all that what he’s doing is being construed as inevitably intertwined with all gays–I think conservatives judge him as a fascist, liberal moonbat (his sexuality, at most, incidental). As much as liberals like to promote the idea that those evil Republicans HATE all gays and want us all dead, I don’t buy it because at the end of the day conservatives judge people as individuals. It’s the liberals that have to compulsively put everyone in tidy little boxes with labels. It’s liberals that presumptively put someone like me in one of their imaginary, invisible groups like “the gay community” with the likes of Blathery Wank.

Bawney has been an embarassment since he let his call boy operate a prostitution ring from his Washington home and had sex with him in the Congressional gymnasium. Ugh.
But Mass is hellbent on sending the most immoral and depraved members to Congress, and we appear powerless to remove these miscreants because they have a D after their name. If vampires had Ds after their names they would still be roaming the earth and serving as legislators (well maybe Harry Reid and Nancy Peelousy are still roaming).
