Here in Michigan we’ve lately had YCR protesters attend DebbieStabenow events and hold up signs saying “Welcome BACK to Michigan… finally” and “Glad to See Michigan’s AWOL Senator” and “Leave Dangerously Incompetent in DC”.

Except when the auto bailout was being discussed, Debbie has been incredibly vacant from the political scene –in DC, in the Senate well, in Detroit, in Lansing, in Michigan. Absent. Hiding. Gone. Not around.

Maybe she was embarassed by her husband’s 2007 arrest for soliciting… maybe she just got locked inside a CountryBuffet; we don’t know. But until the auto bailout came along, she wasn’t around the usual watering holes. And for someone with her sized ego and need for worship by fawning hacks, that’s saying a lot.

Maybe the Fairness Doctrine will be her new auto bailout platform? I kind of liked thinking that Michigan only had the burden of Senator Levin.

If the Democrats REALLY want a Fairness Doctrine it has to apply to the MSM, both on the air and in print. as well. They should have to have an equal number of conservative reporters and they wouldnÂ´t be in the tank for any candidate. Barak Obama is just a pretty face, an empty suit, and a creation of the media. That was fair?

If Republicans/conservatives could get their act together they’d be able to get their views aired on nearly every single television channel/show in existence. Katy Couric et al, PBS et al, CNN et al, would either have to learn how to report without adding their personal political views or be subjected to demands for time for opposing commentary.

And if we let them KNOW in no uncertain terms that that’s our plan if the FD is dug up again, maybe they’d have second thoughts.

Why Republicans/conservatives didn’t use the FD in this manner before is a total mystery to me.

When the policies that you advocate have no rational basis and have been proven over and over to be flawed, one quick way of advancing them is to throttle your opposition’s abilty to present its rebutals. I think this is the only way the Dems know how to conduct public discourse.

So, I am going to point out the Orwellian language of calling government censorship of radio broadcasts the ‘Fairness Doctrine.’

This is straight out of Hugo Chavez’s playbook. Combine it with Obama’s power-grab of taking the Census out of the control of the Commerce Secretary and putting it under White House control, and we have a dangerous concentration of partisan power.

“The never ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way.”

I cut my teeth on Superman. The man of steel who would right the wrongs. What a guy.

Then I discovered that there is no one meaning for “justice” and that “the American Way” was a concept that divided us as much as it united us. However, I never thought that we would reach the point where “truth” would become subjective and dependent on political whim.

When Superman appeared in 1938, we were in a protracted depression and the “drums of war” were sounding in the East and the West. Our cities were full of crime and there was economic decay in the small towns and the big cities.

In Germany, the country was being treated to socialist nationalization, massive social organization, reeducation, indoctrination and book burning. Why book burning? Because it is important to control the past in order to control the future in an anti-democratic society. The “ministry of truth” is in charge of politically correct thought.

Orwell is our best recent touchstone for understanding the “fairness doctrine.” But throughout history, Pharaohs, Emperors, Dictators, Oligarchs, Tyrants and Kings have controlled the message and rewritten the past.

When thinking of “the fairness doctrine” one should focus on the word “doctrine.” The job of censor for the public good is not one for a person of high moral compass. If you watch “The View” or Chris Matthews in full shouting mode or Keith Obermann’s Goebbels without the black leather you will how fairness is manipulated. They all focus on action and hope and change. They have no stomach for facts. Facts lead to the old fashioned way of divining truth. Truth is at odds with the fairness doctrine.
