So in one breath, Holder calls for a frank discussion of race, rather than the normal polite talk that evades tough issues; in the next breath, he attempts to rule out of the debate positions that he finds “extreme” while demonizing those who hold them. In the one instance where Holder is willing to be specific, we learn that his real complaint is not the absence of candid discussion, but rather the articulation of positions he doesn’t like.

perhaps more important, though, is the glaring irony in this post. take this line: “given the fact that if I dare speak about race in the workplace, I’d be fired under current employment laws…”. while i believe this is a bit of hyperbole, the underlying point is true: we as a nation are so overly sensitized on the topic of race. in a way, GP, you are making the very point holder was making. his whole point is that we need to have open, clear, honest dialogue on the topic of race. his hope…or more accurately, his regret, is that, as a diverse country, we have failed to integrate (by choice) as much as many would like.

As far as Holder’s comments…notice that his speech is written….I assume he thought carefully about the words he used.

I can only imagine based on his “after thought” explanation that he would not use those words again.

Lets ask Eric Holder why is it that black Americans are the least educated, most impoverished, most likely to commit crime, when another non-white racial group, Asians, are the highest educated, least impoverished and least likely to commit crime?

Lets ask him why is it that real African Americans, that is people who have immigrated directly from Africa, who are also dark skinned, are doing so much better than black Americans?

The conversations liberals never want to have on race.

We can’t honestly talk about the real causes of African-American underachievement. We can’t talk about the devastating impact of fatherlessness on black families. We can’t honestly talk about black-on-black violence in the inner cities.

We’re only allowed to blame those things on racism. We’re not allowed to talk about other possible causes.
