On Pundits & Investigating Sexuality of Politicos

Let’s say when rustling around in the closet of some leading conservative pundit with a weekly television show, an investigator finds that when that conservative was working in government, he asked the FBI to find out if any of his political rivals were gay?  Let’s say this very pundit had investigated the sexuality of one of his peers.

How would the Human Right Campaign (HRC), the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) react?  Other gay groups?  You can bet they’d be calling for his head, demanding he, at minimum issue an apology, quite possibly attend sensitivity training classes and maybe even demand the network to drop his show.  At minimum, they would issue a statement on this.

Since a leading liberal pundit did just that, I’m about to investigate how they reacted.  Now, as I type these words, I admit not having yet checked their websites nor done any manner of google searches into this matter, but I have reached a preliminary conclusion, that they haven’t mentioned it.

Time will tell how right I am.  And whether I need add “Liberal Hypocrisy” as a category for this post.

Keep an eye on this post.  Updates to come.

HRC UPDATE:  Here’s the only reference to Bill Moyers on the HRC web-site.

NGLTF UPDATE:  My search yielded no results.

I was right!  I was right.  Oh, how easy it is to predict how these groups will react to a Democrat’s questionable conduct on matters of sexuality.

I can’t even find this on the Washington Blade web-site, but at least they linked this Washington Post story.

Time to add a new category to this post.

More on this anon.

  1. On the HRC site: Bill Moyers noted in 2004, “Nearly half the U.S. Congress before the recent [2004] election –231 legislators in total—are backed by the religious right. Forty-five senators and 186 members of the 108th Congress earned 80 to 100 percent approval ratings from three most influential Christian right advocacy groups.”

So, according to Moyers and the HRC, people whose religious convictions influence their votes are threats. Political hacks who rummage around peoples’ personal lives should get wealthy shilling for the left on PBS (paid for by taxpayers).

  3. Have you ever seen the movie “Advise and Consent” that was released in 1962? I have always thought that it was a powerful movie. And, then I remember reading, whether it is true I don’t know, that the New Orleans’ prosecutor in the Kennedy assassination thought that Clay Shaw would commit suicide rather than be dragged out of the closet.

  6. Notice how Rick Santelli is getting the JTP treatment. Anyone who questions Dear Leader must be destroyed!

  7. V, the more the Dear Leader’s minions make angry, over-the-top attacks on his policy critics, the more those critics are legitimized.

And it’s only been 4 weeks.

  9. I try to listen to/read different perspectives and I’m noticing a distinct and national case of buyer’s remorse. Liberals are no longer swooning over Obama and some of the more honest ones (there are a few) are actually beginning to question his administration’s competence (Geithner, Gibbs). When the economy takes off, there is no doubt they will be swept up in emotional, worshipful revival (only with the pleasure that the serfs have less reason to doubt his ability, as if Obama created the better economy and that the economy will be in a better position to fund “more important things”) but the excuse that he’s been in office a short time isn’t going to last and other excuses that are more difficult to sell are going to have to be devised. Caveat emptor.

What conservatives/libertarians/rightists are lacking is a short, attainable list of objectives that are in direct opposition to what is being currently promoted and a person or persons to lead this opposition. That Joe the Plumber and Rick Santelli are famous indicates how sadly lacking we are in leadership. We’ve got the ideas, the energy, the anger and the target …

I agree. And, I would add, it takes time; the more so because the guy to be opposed is newly in office.
