The Yes on 8 campaign was built on one lie after another. Many people bought into them because they conformed to the impressions of gays put in their mind by their their pseudo-religious mis-teachings. Too many conservative blogs regurgitated this garbage word for word, and their commenters pulled Bible quotes out of their hind quarters to justify their prejudices.

Meanwhile the supposed savior of the GOP, Michael Steele, shows his true colors and opposes not only gay marriage but civil unions, which even George W. Bush supported.

They chose to prejudge all gays. I refuse to be tolerant towards beliefs that consider me equivalent to a murderer. I refuse to be tolerant towards beliefs that consider me worse than terrorists. And if you continue to hide behind Christianity to justify it you do not bolster your argument. You just hurt the reputation of Christianity.

I doubt any of the so-called “anti-religious bigots” developed their beliefs about religion in a vacuum.

I think perception is destructive only as we allow it.

To use you as an example. Your, shall we say, strident condemnation of those who disagree with you on the gay marriage issue could easily be perceived as hate speech against the religious. I doubt that’s true. but if the ‘perception is as destructive’ as the real thing. Shouldn’t you appologize?

I doubt Sean Penn, an individual for whom I have little to no respect, and his alleged gay marriage support (more related to PR than anything else) did not increase that respect, exempted any Prop 8 supporters from his shame. But he’s one to talk: he married Madonna!

Not bravery; consistency.

After all, he said that anyone who voted in favor of Proposition 8 should be publicly shamed. Why would it then take bravery to attack black and Islamic people, when he so readily and easily attacks Mormons and white people?

Meanwhile, in order to justify the cowardice of leftist gays and Penn in not attacking black people and Muslims, you argue that Muslims and black people are “ignorant” and thus are not responsible for their behavior.

Sending white powder in an envelope is not a ‘protest’ by any stretch of the imagination. You know that’s beyond the pale, and I assume you didn’t mean to include that in the umbrella of protests.

I understand you’re passionate on the topic, but it is possible to oppose something w/o being a bigot. After all, you oppose efforts to keep the definiation of marriage as it is commonly understood, but I think you’d bristle at being called ‘bigoted against blacks, hispanics and Mormons’ (not to mention all us poor white folks)

And being lectured for grammar by bob is like being lectured on fidelity by Bill Clinton.

Did anti-gay black churches put up most of the money? Did they pay for most of the radio, TV and internet propaganda ads? They weren’t the ones leading the charge. They just followed it. They were misguided, ignorant and, yes, bigoted. But it was the Mormons who were pulling the strings, therefore they were the targets of the protests.

Wow. I’ve never witnessed such a selfless act of bravery–bob, where do you get the guts to go on a blog about gay conservatives and then anonymously condemn the members of a minority group that voted for Prop. 8 as bigoted and ignorant? Aren’t you concerned about your safety? Why hasn’t Sean Penn made a movie about YOU?!

bob, the day you strap on a sandwich board that reads on both sides in all caps “MUSLIMS WHO VOTED FOR PROP. 8 ARE HOMOPHOBIC, IGNORANT BIGOTS!” and stand outside a mosque ringing a bell, is the day I’ll be impressed with your unequivocal condemnations.

And why? Because gay marriage to THEM has nothing to do with the importance of the institution, or what is good for the country, to them it is about nothing but validating homosexuality. And who could oppose validating homosexuality but bigots and the ignorant.

The right to be secure against unreasonable search and seizure, double jeopardy, self-incrimination, excessive bail, and cruel and unusual punishment.
