Easy to Demonize Conservatives When You Don’t Know Any
In my post yesterday, The Prejudiced Minds of Those Who Call Us, “Self-Hating,” I mentioned the appearance of Janeane Garofalo on Keith Olbermann’s show where the one-time comedienne used the “self-loathing†slur most to describe Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele. She told Olbermann that there had to be “something wrong” with people who follow the GOP.
Well, the folk at FoxNews Channel’s Red Eye with Greg Gutfield had fun with that as they wondered why people on the left just have to use the Hitler reference. With great humor, they took on the humorless duo, noting how easy it is to marginalize a group when you don’t know anyone who belongs to it. (We’re talking about liberal attitudes towards conservatives here, not social conservative attitudes toward gays.)

Hitler is a two way street.

And Scott, McCullough all but obscured his very valid point by the Hitler comparison. It’s terrible that he would all but mandate doctors to perform abortions, but McCullough’s overblown rhetoric makes that the issue rather than the policy he’s criticizing.
So, here ODS undermines a legitimate criticism, just as did BDS.

Bruce,
I know I’m not the first to note the Left’s blief system is more akin to a religion than a philosophy.Nevertheless,i don’t believe people should be able to claim their belief system shield them from political repercussi0ns.So,I don’t know if I’m upset re’ pharmacists being open to claims for failing tofill the morning after pill.I do know without the enforcement,no pharmacist would ever lose his/her job. There’s a shortage. And i recall, long ago when i was a resident(early’90s) ther was a move afoot from the (Clinton WH) to mandate unless you did a certain number of abortions you wouldn’t be able to complete your residency. The explanation was-you couldn’t complete a gen surg residency bu opting out of ,say ,appys. So,why could you opt out of terminations? In effect,it was a way to make you’lose your virginity’ about doing AB’s The Church raised Hell.Good luck with this one

Janeane Garofalo and Keith Olbermann? Shouldn’t we start calling them “The Ambiguously Patriotic Duo”?

Gutfeld is kinda cute!

Wow, Garafalo is blind to herself!
She talks, with a pretentious side-tilt-of-the-head, about “Stockholm syndrome… when you try to curry favor with the oppressors.” Um… Left-liberals in their entire approach (aka appeasement) to the Islamic world, anyone?

Greasy haired, sweaty lookin, hairy-armpitted, tattooed skank Janeane Garofalo criticizing women of any kind is rather ironic. You can just tell by looking at her that she reeks of BO.
But Garafolo and Olberman just prove that liberalism is about victimhood. Liberals, in their own minds, are weak, incapable and inferior and need the government to protect them from being victimized by big bad conservatives. And even those who dont view themselves as victims, view minorities as victims. Which is in itself, blatantly racist, sexist, bigoted and homophobic.

MarkJ. How about the ‘conditionally patriotic duo’
I think she’s jsut afraid of Michael Steele, like Clarence Thomas, Condi Rice, Walter Williams and *sigh* Colon Powel giving ‘those people’ the idea that they’d survive off the plantation.

#4 – I can’t help but think that Garofalo has bigger balls than Olberfrau.

I know plenty of conservatives and Republicans personally, but that doesn’t really matter. We’ve seen the movement’s failure on the national stage for 8 years, we all know Republicans.

Ga-barf-alo manages to prove, yet again, that one of a liberal’s most reliable failings is their infinite capacity to project.
And what’s with this stepped-up demonization of Rush? He’s just one guy with one radio show. Liberals have all of TV with the exception of Fox, the vast majority of newspapers, AND most of radio, but one guy on one show ticks ‘em off this much? What’s wrong with them?
Do they believe their political views are unable to withstand debate? Are they that arrogant? Or is it insecurity?
If they believe there’s only one valid point of view and feel an overwhelming desire to crush any dissent whatsoever, well, there are several unpleasant words to describe someone who cannot fathom the possiblility there might be valid opinions other than their own, and that those opinions have a right to be aired (err, something about the First Amendment).

Who’s we? We haven’t seen much conservatism over the last 8 years. Your comment leads me to believe that you may know conservatives, but you know squat about conservatism.
