The President had a chance to show he was serious about fiscal responsibility, but he didn’t take it. Jake Tapper reports that he’ll sign the pork-laden omnibus spending bill.
UPDATE:Â Even the AP notice that in signing the bill, “Obama beats early retreat on promise to fight pork.“
UP-UPDATE: Glenn notes that even Maureen Dowd finds Obama’s passivity on earmarks appalling.

I’m shocked! Truly shocked because I know for one that President Obama regularly reads this blog (and especially the self-referential links) and takes his marching orders not from leaders of his own party, the opposition party, not the opposition party’s de facto leader President Limbaugh, not even from his own initiative but rather from GayPatriotWest.
I can’t believe he didn’t do what you told him. How DARE he! I bet you’ll show him! You’ll make him pay!

No, george, you’ll pay. I’ll pay. GPW will pay. Future generations will pay.
Well, maybe george won’t pay… he’s likely one of the drones that gets to suckle at the gummint teat.

littleletterpeople george has struck a mighty blow of wit and clarity. An over abundance pork will grease even a lethargic, if not moribund mind.
Should Obambi come knocking at this site, I am sure that he will be treated with the respect he gives those he opposes. As I recall, he considers those he bested as abject losers. Since Obambi is the President of All the People and The One Who Will Bring Us Together, I really can’t quite see littleletterpeople george’s point. Is he doing a superiority dance?

In other words, Chairman Obama doesn’t give a shit about what the Proles think.

Oh, george:
We’re not expecting The Messiah to come to our little blog here. And we’re not expecting Him to do what we say He should.
I’d settle for him doing some of the things He said He’d do.
For example:
That was Senator Obama in the final debate with Senator McCain on October 15th of last year.
You should really read the whole thing. There are quite a few comical things He said back then. Like this, too:
Oh, that guy’s a riot!

I thought he wasn’t your president anyway. Maybe you’re all suffering from a collective case of Obama Derangement Syndrome – ODS. That somehow sounds about right here, ODS.
Night ladies.
Comment by george — March 4, 2009 @ 12:35 am - March 4, 2009
Um, George, shouldn’t he do what he pledged in the campaign to go through the budget line by line?
Please tell me how we’re suffering from ODS? Do we kill him “evil”? We’re just criticizing the difference between his campaign promises and his record as chief executive.
Please tell me what is so offensive about this post. Thanks.

We’re questioning his reality.
Note, I for one have always referred to the big O as President Obama. I accept he is my president and, as has been stated by those more eloquent than I, if his policies are harmful to the country I want him to fail.
geroge is so convinced that the President is the man to lead us from the wilderness he helped create as a senator, that to point out that he has feet of clay leaves him with nothing but shattered dreams.
Kind of sad really.

In other words, you lack the testicular fortitude to back Chairman Obama. This leaves one to wonder why you bothered commenting in the first place.
I believe Pete might have a consolation prize backstage. Thanks for playing.

People’s support of Obama has always been more about fantasy than about reality. (Their personal fantasies of him.)

Well, that ol’ spending package is really making a difference in Michigan. We’ve got $1.8m going to provide mental counseling for homeless vets -if they can find them. We’ve got $3.2m going to build a round-about to Europeanize Ann Arbor and make it feel more like… well, I don’t really know except maybe Ireland. We’ve got $5.2m going to preserve a 0.4 acre stand of ancient Burr Oaks just outside of town; the only stimulation there is the landowner’s pocketbook and some tree huggers’ wet dreams. We’ve got $7.6m going to rebuild urban running paths near the river with -get this- temporary asphalt paths laid down by minority contractors.
And the real shocker, we’ve got about $2.7m going to ACORN-Michigan to assist them in their “community organizing” efforts to fight foreclosures, voter apathy, utility shutoffs, homelessness, etc.
Aaaaaah, now that’s some serious stimulating. Or is it paying-off standard, old line Democrat constituencies? Hmmmm I’ll have to wait and see because Obama wouldn’t lie.

geroge:
Just as an FYI, Obama is my president. Just that He’s not my Messiah. I didn’t vote for Him (in fact, I know of several who did who already regret having done so), and I intend to challenge Him whenever he’s wrong. That’s my job as an American.
But unlike the Bush haters, it won’t be personal, won’t be petty, but will be about His policies and the decisions He makes.
Get a grip. You won. When that win shows Pyrrhic, don’t cry about us calling Him out.

#9 – TGC, you are correct. The little-letter-person gets a year’s supply of Summer’s Eve for his own personal use after Count Chocula finishes with him.

They had one of those over in Clearwater. Nobody could figure out how it worked and folks kept having accidents, so the city had to spend more money to take it out. Keep your eye on that project. It won’t last.
