Conservatives don’t like deficit spending unless its done by a republican president/congress during an economic boom.
Didn’t you know that?

Well I sure as hell didn't know that. Could you please enlighten me with some evidence which substantiates your claims?

What's more, Chairman Obama's on track to outspend all 8 years of Bush in less than one year. Could you please explain how, exactly, that's nothing to worry about?

Also, could you please explain why liberals spent the last few years bitching about Bush's spending, and "pay-go" lies but now that a liberal is in office, it's ok?

Or is it that liberals can't stand it when money's being spent on the military to defend America and liberate millions from tyranny?

Get with the program indeed.

Ball's in your court, gillster.

Good point! If I remember correctly the CBO was projecting a balanced budget by 2010... but then that all went to hell when Democrats took over.

In reality (something Kevin and gillie want no part of), deficits were steadily declining until the Democrats took over Congress in 2007. The last budget by a Republican congress (FY2007) had a deficit of $162 Billion. The first budget by a Democrat congress (FY2008) was $459 Billion. The Democrats tripled the deficit in one year, then quadrupled it the following year when Obama took over.

I’m sorry, which party was in full control for 6 years of congress and the White House which got us into this mess? sorry, what was that?

Curiously, if you look at this chart, you see that Federal deficits were steadily declining from 2004-2007, then all of a sudden, they spiked in FY2008 and skyrocketed in FY2009.

Gosh, what could possibly have happened to the Congress in 2007 to account for such a sharp and sudden increase in the deficit. It's almost like a fiscally irresponsible party took over Congress in 2007 and began spending like maniacs... but that couldn't possibly have happened, could it?

The orgy of corruption continues: FBI raids offices of Obama Chief Technology Officer.

Tax cheats, bribery, pay for play, land deals, etc... has there EVER been an administration so steeped in corruption so early in their tenure?

Kevin,
Conservatives don’t like deficit spending unless its done by a republican president/congress during an economic boom.
Didn’t you know that?
If the economy is in the crapper AND if a dem is in charge, then they will hold demonstrations and rallies against it.

Get with the program, would ya?

(and before the cursory, “we were against Bush's spending” posts come, please show me when the right held a protest against spending before Obama came into office)

Your Tax Dollars & Mine.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly requested Military aircraft to shuttle her and her colleagues and family around the country, according to a new report from a conservative watchdog group.
Pelosi has abused the system in place to accommodate congressional leaders and treated the Air Force as Her "personal airline."
There is a policy in Federal Government know as Waist.Fraud and Abuse. Which one of them does She come under? I can think of two of them. And that's where your Tax Dollars are going.

Let's pretend, for a moment, that Kevin is right and it's all the fault of Republicans.

Then my question is WTF were liberals doing to stop it? If they actually gave a rotten damn about the American people and the economy, what were they doing to try and make things better?

Probably for the first time in your life, Kevin, there's balls in your court.

Kevin,

As TGC pointed out, we didnt get into this mess two and a half years ago when Republicans were in control of congress. In fact, when Republicans gave up control the economy was still growing at over 3 percent. It wasnt until Democrats had been in control for a full year that the recession started and it wasn't until they had been in contol for almost two years that the economic crisis hit. And the banking crisis could have all been avoided if Democrats hadn't been filibustering Bush and Republicans attempts at reforming Fannie and Freddy for 6 years.

And since you support them unswervingly, it can be said to be your fault as well.

I'm sorry. WHICH party has had control of congress since 2007 and haven't done a damn thing? WHO said that Fan/Fred were "solid" back in the summer of 2008?

Who's budget of 2002 called Fan/Fred a "potential problem" which "could cause strong repercussions in financial markets"?

Which president, in 2003, pushed congress to set up a new agency to oversee and regulate Fan/Fred?

"We need a strong, world class, regulatory agency to oversee the prudential operations of the GSEs and the safety and the soundness of their financial activities." - Treasury Secretary John Snow Sept. 10, 2003.

To which the libs replied:

"Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not in a cirsis." - Rep. Barney Frank

And who was it that said that the federal government should do more to encourage to get low income families into homes?

The same guy who said:

"The more people, in my judgement, exagerate a threat of safety and soundness, the more people conjure up the possiblity of serious financial losses to the treasury, which I do not see. I think we see entities which are fundamentally sound financially and withstand some of the disaster scenarios. And even if they were a problem, the federal government doesn't bail them out. But the more pressure there is there, then the less, I think, we see in terms of affordable housing

The same folks who BLOCKED a move at reform.

Who said, in 2005 when Fan/Fred accounting mistakes came to light:

"...Enabling these institutions to increase in size, and they will once the crisis in their judgement passes, we are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk." Feb. 17, 2005

The same guy who said:

"If we fail to strengthen GSE regulation, we increase the possibility of insolvency and crisis." April 6, 2005

Who said:

"I think Freddie and Fannie over the years have done a incredibly good job and are an intrinsic part of making America the best-housed people in the world. If you look over the last 20 or whatever years, they've done a very, very good job". April 6, 2005

Who said in 2006:

"For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac... and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market... the GSEs need to be reformed without delay."

And which party is bailing out people who lied on their mortgage applications while people who didn't get the shaft?

I can go on, if you like, but your insistence that the liberals were just spectators for 8 years is pure bullshit and you damn well know it.

Question of cause and effect with the Freeman case: 7 intelligence committee republicans came out to announce their opposition to freeman yesterday, based on the statements concerning china and the role of saudi money in the MEPC. Today, Freeman announces resignation. Would this opposition have come about regardless of right-wing media pressure? It's an honest question, I don't know how much of this is because of media exposure, or backroom lobbying by AIPAC. maybe a combination of the two.

It's magnificent for fans of the original series, which I am and my friends are. Beyond that, I think discussion should wait till you've seen it, for fear of spoilers.

I gave it a qualified good review. Short version: Know going in that Watchmen is as much an anti-superhero movie or a super anti-hero movie as it is superhero movie, and earns its R-rating.

Dan, that's a great idea! Instead of speaking about the MSM, the farLeft and others in bed with Obama and propping up his actions -let's give them the shorthand "vast Leftwing conspiracy". It does capture the essence of what's happening and has happened in American politics.

BTW, Michigan-Matt partner, four good friends and I saw Watchmen. We had the benefit of dinner before the flick and one of the couples are big Moore fans; their insight helped a lot. But Watchmen virgins can profit from the experience.

Our 6 person verdict, well worth your time & not too long or preach-y; cram-packed graphics or super dense visuals, incredible sound, good acting, great directing and lighting, awesome adaption ala the HarryPotter films' respect for the printed work... dark superheros that fit today's psyche as much as they fit '85's.

Stunning epic-sized film. Get the large popcorn, though.
