Democrats* Who Voted for “Stimulus” Responsible for AIG Bonuses
So, stop the grandstanding, Barney and Chris. You voted for it. You own it. You’re responsible for AIG doling out the taxpayers’ money (and that of their children and grandchildren) you handed over to them.
No wonder Obama wanted to rush this through. I wonder what other provisions people are going to find objectionable, as we see how the law Democrats hastily passed takes effect.
*And those three Republican Senators.

Once again, the politicians are playing us a bunch of rubes. I’m sure many of them were aware of the bonus issue. It is simply convenient right now to make a fuss about this issue.
Unfortunately, it is working. I overheard two women yesterday gushing about the ‘One’ and how he is so wonderful. Aside from dealing with the ‘big’ problems, he is taking time out to comment on the small details, like standing up to the nasty bonuses these greedy CEOs are getting.
He is trying to have it both ways, garner support from big business, by allowing them to be rewarded for nothing and then turning around and lambasting them. So the little people can feel good that he is looking out for them. How this is looking out for the little people I don’t know.
But they seem to think it is.

IIRC, it was Chris Dodd himself who inserted the clause permitting the bonuses to go forth.
I only wish the Congress could work up a similar level of outrage about the $60 Billion in annual Medicaid/Medicare fraud.

The root of most of this economic crisis lays with the Democrats. We need to say it over and over. McCain and the Republicans 5 years ago tried to re regulate some of the sub prime mess. Dems prevented it. They threatened all Republican legislation with the Senate fillibuster remember. Any organized Democrat resistance torpedoed any legislation.
The latest Obamateleprompter bungle…..

Man this Obama is turning out to be a bigger boob than Carter.
Now there is also word they may throw the tax cheat Geithner under the bus to try to stem the collapse of Obamateleprompters poll ratings.
So how’s this all working out for the leftists and the Dems. I notice on the worst days of this administration, not many of the usual leftists come around to support and salute their chief boob. hehe

Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are – Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.

Those three guys hide when the crap hits the fan like this. They will be back in a couple days when they think it is safe to salute the Fuheur again. The problem for them is Geithner will probably be toast within 48 hours. Obamateleprompter had St Patties Day parties while people are hurting. This embarassment called the Obama Administration is just getting started. Now we have proof that humiliated President Carter is seen visiting the White House.

Folks complain when rules for purchasing via food stamps and welfare checks are “imposed” and enforced. Folks complain when there are strings attached and stipulations demanded in lieu of foreign aid. Although I think the bonuses are reprehensible, the ire is misdirected — especially when such bonuses that are so shocking (at least to those of us who may not be benefiting from their recipients, including political campaign war chests) were not verboten by the legislation. GPW’s right. The stimulus should have been defeated because of what it is, not due to what ignorant people thought it wasn’t or what conniving people knew it was.

Doesn’t it bother any of you that one of the most senior Republicans in the Senate — Charles Grassley of Uowa — suggested that AIG executives consider committing suicide. Talk about boobs!

Ed Morrissey wonders if anyone in the Democrat’s PR Firm (the MSM) will ask: If AIG’s retention bonuses are a problem, why aren’t Freddie Mac’s?

Uhm. It was one of those evil “three Republican Senators” Olympia Snow, who sponsored that provision in the first place. You should at least give her some credit. And yes, she did vote for the bill even though her provision got knocked out by Dodd, but at least she tried.

No.
Because (since you are probably asking yourself why I answered the way I did) I never saw any outrage from the Libtard Left about the death wishes flung from their side of the aisle to most if not all GOP lawmakers from George W. Bush on down.
So I am ignoring this “faux outrage” again.

Yes, it does bother me, and I condemn Charles Grassley for his intemperate and stupid words.
Now, do you have a comment on why your Obama Party Senators and Representatives a) did not read the stimulus bill, b) proposed amendments that protect executive bonuses for companies who received TARP dollars before February 11th, and c) received political donations from said companies?
Because otherwise, you know, it looks like you’re trying to play the distraction game to protect your Obama Party. You wouldn’t want to do that, would you? After all, doesn’t the Obama Party support reading legislation before you pass it and not passing amendments to specifically protect executive bonuses?

Lee is only engaging in the time-honored Obamunist Cult technique of waving his arms and pointing over there in hopes that no one will notice the latest example of idiocy, corruption, or both coming from his party.

Chris Dodd comes off more and more of a corrupt person as the news of this mess comes out. He seems to be instrumental in all the abuses that everyone is pointing too.
I really hope he loses re election this time around.

And in the latest news, as Obama and his Party shriek about paying bonuses to AIG executives, government-owned Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are planning to pay out bonuses to their executives.

Much like the anti-Prop 8 activists who targeted donors for harassment and threats, AIG Employees are also getting threats, sure to be exacerbated when blowhards like Bawney Fwank and Shmuck Schumer publicly release the names of those who received bonuses.

Don’t chase Lee away, I was wondering where all the leftists went after more days of bumbling and stumbling by the Obamateleprompter administration. Now that we know Lee is here could he please comment on the bumbling tax cheat Treasury Sec and whether he should be fired, the stumbling press sec who some are calling Mrs Doubtfire always attacking people from the podium at the White House, and whether Obama teleprompter will give back the AIG donations to his campaign. Could Lee or any other leftists comment on Obamateleprompter reading the Irish PM’s remarks off his teleprompter by mistake yesterday. Or could you comment on the almost constant parties at the White House, the latest being St Patties Day festivities as thousands more are thrown out of work. Pick any of the above to enlighten us on.
…….crickets……. crickets……

After Sen Grasleys remarks about suicide it was Democrats who were over heard to say “boy I wish I’d have said that”. Shocking, shocking. The party that was going to bring us together, end all the partisian bickering. Shocking.

Why Grassley thinks references to supuku are the best dramatic point he can make is beyond me. And he seems to pride himself on how many times he has dragged the metaphor to the front.
Why should the guys who played by the rules laid down by Congress apologize for hogging down on the process? Why should they disembowel themselves?
Comment by heliotrope — March 19, 2009 @ 12:11 pm - March 19, 2009
heliotrope.
It’s not even a matter of ‘hogging down’ the bonuses were in place prior to the government buyout. Why should they be evicerated for meeting their requirements?

[...] No wonder Democrats are tripping over themselves to denounce the bonuses paid to AIG executives. They’rre trying to try to deflect attention from their votes to guarantee such bonuses (when they voted for the “stimulus” which included a provision doing just that). [...]
