I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Colorado for placing 4 of the top 20 cities on the Forbes list of Best Places For Business And Careers in the US.
Bruce will no doubt chime in (NC has 6. Good grief, aren’t some of those, like, the same city anyway?), but I’ll crow for the Centennial State till he comes around to show us up.
FWIW, the four cities are:
Fort Collins (#2)
Colorado Springs (#10)
Denver (#14)
Boulder (#20)
How long we stay on the list is hard to say. The state is currently overrun by Leftist legislators and a rabidly anti-business despot resides at 400 East 8th Avenue. Boulder is, well, Boulder. And Denver is similarly a dark shade of blue.
On the other hand, Fort Fun (as we who attended CSU call it) was, back in 1993, the site of Rush Limbaugh’s big Dan’s Bake Sale (for those old enough to remember) and clings to a somewhat business-friendly atmosphere. Of course, CSprings is growing by leaps and bounds and businesses that choose to locate there thrive. (It’s no wonder these two place ahead of the Queen City of the Plains and the Peoples’ Republic of Boulder.)
We at least have to catch up with North Carolina! 😉

Well, I’ve only been to CSprings. Actually, it was a Boy Scout camp nearby, so I didn’t get to see much of the area. I’ve also been on two church retreats to Brevard, NC. Otherwise, I really haven’t visited either state.
Just got back from 3 weeks in Colorado. Unfortunately your remark that the State is now overrun by Lefties is correct.
This won’t last, the liberal locusts invading Colorado will destroy it like they’ve destroyed every business friendly state they migrate into like a Biblical plague or virus. They destroy a state with their irrational policies, then leave because their policies make it unlive-able. Then go to conservative states with sensible policies, but instead of electing sensible politicians, they seek to elect the same types of politicians they elected in their old states, clueless libtards. Then the cycle repeats itself. I give Colorado fifteen years at best before it becomes a Cali basket case.
Note, too, Lincoln NE at 5. As I’ve said, this area is the Republican Vermont. Omaha is at 35, which I think should be higher, but it still shows that Nebraska is moving up.
As long as you avoid Aspen and Boulder, you can maintain your conservative sanity and enjoy the healthy living there!

Peter H.
I have had a home in Colorado for a while because I thought it would be a great , affordable place to retire. In the past two years it has gone solidly liberal and for on instance, my property taxes have double. This is just the beginning, so now I’m looking for some place else. Lincoln is intriguing…I always thought it would be fun to be a Corn Husker.
#6 – “I always thought it would be fun to be a Corn Husker.”
Boy, reading that makes my burnt orange Longhorn blood boil…
Just kidding. 😉

Yeah, my city (Raleigh) is #1! I’ve lived in 4 cities on the list.
What a shock (not) that no New England cities made the cut. It’s surprising how many people I meet that move here from the northeast. Unfortunately, they bring their liberal voting tendancies too so it won’t be long before it sucks here like it does there.
This week in Omaha, you can see The Firebird at the Rose, hear a Dvorak symphony at the Holland, and top it off with La Boehme at the Orpheum. Lincoln, too, has a funky downtown at the Haymarket as well as the Huskers. Nebraska has been quite a find for me. Flyover country is the new New England.
Colorado is still a great place to be, there are still plenty of conservatives here.
They still call it “Fort Fun” btw 🙂
We just have a train wreck Governor that is trigger happy for a state of an emergency when it snows.
I did not go to CSU, but it is one of the only schools in the state that let you conceal carry on campus
