Thank you for that. It gives us a little historical lesson, since Ike followed Truman, who was almost exactly as unpopular as President Bush, and for almost exactly the same reasons. It also suggests that Obama’s popularity might not have as much to do with his magnificence, as we are lead (and he would like) to believe, as it does with the simple fact that he is not his unpopular predecessor.

As the media gives Obamateleprompter A’s and B+’s for his first hundred days….there is also a new poll that has an interestiing result.
The generic Republican Democrat poll by Rasmussen.

Now why would a pluality favor more Republicans be elected to Congress?
Because they view the complete one party rule to be out of control. This isn’t what they expected.

the internals on the polls are telling.
a recent one had Obama at 48% headed in the right direction, 44% wrong.
only 18% of those polled were considered Strong Republican, and 40% total republicans or independent/lean republican in total polled. Yet even with 60% Dems or Dem/leaning polled (24% total Strong), Obama can’t get over 50% in a loaded poll.
