“Do your homework, first:” Condi Confronts a Critic
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice confronts a misinformed critic of the Bush Administration:
Wish more of her colleagues had challenge critics as directly as she did above and wish that the Bush White House had done more to promote such challenges.
Had W had Obama’s public relations commitment, he would likely have left office with much higher approval and the angry left would find less traction in the MSM for many of their allegations, nearly all of which are based on an incomplete knowledge of the facts.

And she’s single! I have a weakness for that “space in the middle of the front teeth” thing.
Seriously, she’s a better woman than I. I would have taken the little punk over my knee for a serious paddling. And he would NOT have liked it.
Thanks, Leah!

Wow, that was pretty amazing…she took him to school. She has been my favorite person of that administration and I wish she would run for elected office. I totally love the part about the Supreme Court, oh she is a bad ass.
I miss her, run in 2012 Condi..please..

Compare the style and respect accorded the questioner to the recent Barney Frank dialogue with the Harvard student. Note Barneys use of the straw man technique.

One of the reasons I don’t mind former VP Cheney out there defending the Bush administration. Clear headed, straight talking defense of the past administration is possible from those with straight backs and the intellegence to stand and argue a point and not just try to make a 10 second sound bite like the liberals. Republicans are often too lazy to try to do what Sec Rice did with this young, brain washed student.

I can understand why Condi couldn’t speak like that while at State – but someone else in the former administration could have! The left wouldn’t have liked us any better, but there actually might have been a few minds changed.
Not Steve of course, too much hate on his mind. Here’s a question for you. Many gays know real conservatives and don’t complain about hate. Steve have you ever met a conservative and given him/her the time of day to actually be themselves before your hatred and bile lashed out at them???

Okay, I’m about 5 minutes in, and I’ve seen nothing here but a former Secretary of State absolutely humiliating herself. All she’s done so far is oscillate between stonewalling and rambling – it seems as if she actually thinks that this kid isn’t aware that the Nazis never attacked the homeland. She’s just hiding behind her position and incoherence to be really, really condescending for no reason at all. And while homeboy there didn’t know that the Supreme Court prevented those ‘trials’ from taking place, she fails to mention that those trials were stopped because they were a joke designed specifically to continue the indefinite detention of the detainees.
I mean, it’s pretty mind-blowing to see someone defend themselves by pointing out that the Supreme Court ruled that what they were trying to do was illegal. Shorter Condi: “Yeah? Well we were gonna do something about those detainees, but the highest court of law in the land ruled that our plan was unconstitutional! So there!”

In other words, she ate that leftist Obama shill’s lunch.
This is what a competent black person looks like, Levi. Watch and learn, and maybe you won’t have to make so many excuses for why your Obama lies and supports the same “torture” policies over which you shriek Bush and Condi should be criminally prosecuted.

Again, this idiot just tried to use the fact that the Supreme Court ruled that their plan was illegal to prove a totally incoherent point to a college student. That’s competence to you?
And my favorite part came towards the end, when she said ‘The United States was told.’ I’m trying to figure out what the hell that’s supposed to mean. Any ideas?

Again, the Obama Party shill who tried to argue that Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy believes that by screaming loud enough, he can impose his view of reality on the rest of the world.
Obama Party members like you lie, Levi. You admitted that you lied to the rest of the United States when you claimed Obama was going to cut spending, and you don’t see anything wrong with it. We know you lie, and we’re calling you on your lies. You’ve never had that happen before, have you?

Awesome post! Love the beginning when she schooled that kid about the 3000 Americans! I agree. More people from the past administration have to come out and say it exactly that same way. Make it clear that in the chaos and the fear, tough, rational choices had to be made to avoid another attack. ARRRGGGHHH!! I can’t stand the libs!

Condi makes a point that seems to slip right by too many people: the decisions made by the Bushies were made from a position of RESPONSIBILITY. As I’ve written previously, GWB and his team weren’t debating hypotheticals and abstractions; they were making decisions that had the potential of fending off further attacks or opening the door for further attacks.
I would point out to that student (and to Levi, et al) that in previous wars, illegal combatants (out of uniform, deliberately targeting civilians with no strategic value) were, in many cases, shot in the field (perfectly legal).

Every blog that I read on a regular basis that has a post with an embedded Youtube video seems to hijacked on my computer with another video. Every blog seems to have the same video regardless of what the poster intended, but the videos change each day.
I have cleared my internet cache, rebooted, both several times and run my Norton anti-virus scan. Nothing seems to work. – any suggestions?

Levi – she was informing him that he was wrong in his information. He gets his info, like you, just from Keith Olberman and his buddies. Doing no research whatsoever. Think about it Levi – pretend she was talking to you. If on “your watch” you had some power while 3000 Americans died and a lot of them died by JUMPING to their own deaths to avoid being burned alive – you wouldn’t do anything in your power to stop it? Think LOGICALLY Levi!
But then again it really doesn’t matter. Because IF we get attacked again at ANY point in Obama’s reign of power, you guys have it all figured out right? It will be Bush’s fault. The script is already written in that event. Pelosi, Reid and Levi are ready to point the fingers. So I guess that is why you would not want us to find out about other attacks. It just reinforces your arguments.
Comment by BC — May 1, 2009 @ 10:57 pm - May 1, 2009
BC the liberals didn’t give a damn about the Americans leaping to their deaths from the WTC. They lept to prevent themselves from dying in the flames fumes and smoke. The plunged to their deaths in shear terror. And these faux feeling liberals still don’t give a damn. I think if it were their mothers and sisters jumping from the WTC they still wouldn’t give a damn.

He wasn’t wrong with his information – she just deflected all of his questions and started babbling incoherently about things he wasn’t asking questions about. And yes, I would do anything in my power. The problem with the Bush administration is that they grabbed a bunch of powers they didn’t have. I also would have tried a little harder to stop 9-11 in the first place, Condi and the rest of the administration were not on the ball.
But then again it really doesn’t matter. Because IF we get attacked again at ANY point in Obama’s reign of power, you guys have it all figured out right? It will be Bush’s fault. When 9-11 occurred, Republicans put all of the blame on Clinton, so why wouldn’t that be prudent in a future terror attack?
By the way, there isn’t going to be another terror attack. 9-11 was a total fluke that only occurred because Bush and Co. were asleep at the wheel. Obama won’t preside over a terrorist attack, and neither will the next President, and neither will the President after him/her. All of this will only reinforce the notion that 9-11 was the fault of lazy, negligent Republicans.

#11: Levi – I can’t get past the filter but, FYI, the Nazis did attempt to insert saboteurs into the US (eight if them, I think, in early 1942).
They were caught. FDR ordered military tribunals. They were quickly convicted (late June of ’42). Six were executed six weeks later; the remaining two did years in prison.
Comment by SoCalRobert — May 2, 2009 @ 2:06 pm - May 2, 2009
Levi – REALLY???? Come on!! BUSH did not blame Clinton. Some crazy far righters did but the adminstration stayed focus on what they had to do and did it. With the first 100 days of this administration constantly pointing the finger backwards, its inevitible that it would happen if there is another attack. Here’s the not so funny thing – when Pearl Harbor was attacked no one blamed the sitting president or the previous president. They blamed the Japanese. Because they did it.
And, if you are THAT ignorant to believe that another attack is not possible, you are the one asleep at the wheel.

Somewhat agitated, defensive and visibly aggravated, Rice proceeded to chide the questioner in a reprimanding tone, telling him to “next time, do your homework first !” Her message, rather than a straightforward reply to an innocent inquiry, carried the subtlety and nuance of a calculated rebuttal warning any who second-guess the decisions of the former Bush Administration to “be careful what you ask, you just might get answered.”
Although the question had been posed rhetorically over and again, from left to right, it perhaps came as a shock to her that anyone would have the audacity and the blatant disregard for protocol to ask it to her face. Rice, however, stood her ground propped by her unwavering pride that few persons on earth are privileged to enjoy. Yes, the indefatiguable truth that she had once served as Secretary of State of the United States of America, afforded her the confidence to take on and fend off this daring nay-sayer in a cool, collected and Condoleeza manner.
Good job, Madame Secretary!
