I find it funny, well sad actually, that Levi mentioned the torture meme as something 'not covered' when the post below this one does touch on it.

Then again, Levi's simply [Louis Renault] disappointed, disappointed that the democrats knew and applauded the EIT [/Louis Renault]

Actually there are blogs like RedState that cover a lot of daily subjects. However, it's not the liberal circle jerk that journalists desire.

If you end up focusing on stories that are weeks old (Carrie Prejean)

Really? If so, then why were the Obama Party shill Keith Olbermann and his fellow harpy Maddow talking about it just last night?

After all, they claim to be journalists, don't they? MSNBC, or so you say, is a "serious" journalism network, is it not?

So why are you bashing GPW and GP for covering a topic that your own Obama-supporting media is pushing, hm?

Levi,

Scavenger hunts for American Idol viewings in Key West, the Tea Bagger movement and blaming Obama for DADT. At least two of those subjects are covered by, say, Queerty, which doesn't really pretend to be serious.

Anyway, you left those out.

Levi, Levi, Levi, to see just how wrong you are, all you need do is read conservative blogs, but that might challenge your fixed view of the world as you expose yourself to perspectives by those against whose very person you’re prejudiced.

We are just one among very many conservative blogs, Levi. You’re just not as obsessed with those others as you are with us.

Your left-wing prejudice is showing as well as your narrow view of the world. The expression, tunnel-vision, you use to describe others more readily describes you.

Okay, let me try to explain it a different way. The internet is a good tool for politics because of how current and up-to-date it can be. If you end up focusing on stories that are weeks old (Carrie Prejean) and ignoring things that are happening on a day-to-day basis (torture developments), you're not fulfilling the potential of the internet. Liberal blogs might mention Miss California from time to time, but they also mention other things.
That's why no one reads conservative blogs, but they do read liberal ones. Sorry, wake up and make a change.

Corporate media is like Hollywood. They hire according to the rules of typecasting and studio image. The occasional sprinkling of conservatives (save Fox, a company that has far more liberal commentators than its liberal counterparts have conservatives) is merely for the appearance of objectivity. This, of course, is not journalism but opinionism and these opinionists are no different than commenters at a blog except they're paid, often handsomely. I have no desire to subject myself to more liberalism than is absolutely unavoidable (with occasional exception), a perfectly rational decision from someone who abhors liberalism and is not a journalist.

Let me take a wild stab here- they are more likely to visit far left blogs because A- it reflects their views in a nice, cushiony cloud of familiarity and B-gives them ideas for stories because they are too lazy to actually do much investigative work like in the old days.

Levi, you know you has 'spent weeks flogging the Carrie Prejean non-story'? The networks, cable news and gossip blogs- all of whom lean left, with exception of Fox News. Hell, you could take your pal Olberman's obsession alone and almost make the case of time spent flogging the story. If she hadn't given a non PC answer, no one would have cared and no one would know her name. It's the left that's responsible for that non-story's beginnings- there's no denying that.

But, then again, the article quoted above said they “actually read” (emphasis added) the left-wing blogs whereas all too many of our critics don’t actually read our posts, they just use our comments section to respond to their own prejudiced opinion about what a conservative believes.

I'm not a journalist, but I find your posts more reasonable than the comments you attract from fellow conservatives. Perhaps part of the problem is your audience, one that doesn't even seem to agree with you on many points and appears more interested in ad hominems than actual debate.

Nor are you alone. Eugene Volokh has a similar problem with his blog. Perhaps a reflection of the frustration his audience has with the posts, as there's not a reliable social conservative who contributes there.

Do Cantor and others participate on blogs? Perhaps if there were more political participants it would increase journalist interest. That seems to be the only explanation for their interest in a blog like the DailyKos, which is more of an ATM for house races and longshot senate campaigns than it is a repository of insightful commentary.

That they would read more left-of-center blogs suggests a liberal point of view, unless of course, they’re like some of those who comment to this blog, delighting in the posts of those whose ideas they claim to revile.

I would like to present an alternative hypothesis as to why journalists don't spend a lot of time reading conservative websites, and we can use this conservative website as an example. A lot of things are happening in the American political world this week, and if you relied on this blog exclusively for political information about the world, you wouldn't know about any of them. GayPatriot has spent weeks now flogging this Carrie Prejean non-story that is more tabloid in nature than political. Other conservative websites share that obsessive tunnel-vision on their political topics of interest as well. Sorry fellas, but you're not relevant because you're deciding not to be relevant. Liberal websites cover what matters and what's happening now, this is why they're more read.
