Student Debt Emblematic of what Obama has in Store for Nation?
As college tuition skyrockets, the debt of recent graduates increases. As I pondered this after following two Instapundit links, something struck me about our left-leaning university faculty. I was wondering if any of them had taken a pay cut as have many in the private and nonprofit sectors.
It seems that these recent graduates will be spending a number of years paying off those who promote a left-wing ideology. Is this, I then wonder, emblematic of what is happening in America at large, with Obama burdening succeeding generations with debt to pay off those who implement the left-wing ideas taught on university faculties?
Just a thought.
ADDENDUM: Jim Hoft speculates that the reason these graduates “can’t live on credit is because [the President] needs them to pay off his loans.”

“P.S. Bush / GOP debt doesn’t count. Future generations won’t be burdened by that debt because I criticized it. Or something. I mean–HEY! TEA PARTIES!”

So if students run up debt at Bob Jones University, would that make you feel better?

#1 – “So if students run up debt at Bob Jones University, would that make you feel better?”
Considering the size of Bob Jones Univ and the fact that, as a private school, it does not rely on government funding, why on earth would it make a difference?
Try again.

torrent, since you’re criticizing W for racking up the debt, why don’t you criticize his Democratic successor for increasing the pace?

Universities have become horribly corrupt institutions. Most students take on terrible debt with no credit counceling. And most schools make it very difficult to get a 4 year degree in less than 5 years. The universities make no effort to improve this situation. They instead run it like a corrupt business with no oversite whatsoever. Embarrassed 22-24 year olds graduate in debt and have a liberal mind set that “someone” should help them. Exactly what leftists want and appreciate. The answer….make it free. Make the producers pay so all college education is free.

I know I have student loans of about $40,000. That really scares me…

Why do the students (I only see this with American) think racking up massive debt is the way to attend college. I worked my way thru and got an engineering degree with no debt, wife from China did the same with a PhD, so did my sister-in-law. Is it just cheaper to get engineering degrees?

Most colleges and universities are freezing faculty salaries. Some are cutting pays of the top administrators as well. Most are not increasing their faculty size and many are not replacing retiring faculty at this point.
