It’s just the way they are. It’s in their very nature. I mean, by definition, they can’t even defend their own positions, so says Robert Frost, the great American poet who spoke at John F. Kennedy’s inauguration: “A liberal is someone who can’t take his own side in an argument.”
Beautifully succinct.
And it proves the hypothesis that liberalism is a mental disorder, since they can’t take their own sides in an argument.
Thank you, Mr. Frost.

Well Peter, I think modern liberals are different than they were in Mr. Frost’s day.
In his day, left-liberals said “Gee, our country might be in the wrong. Including me. I might be in the wrong. How can I apologize or make up for it?” In other words, they were often excessive or inappropriate in blaming America first, but were usually at least somewhat well-meaning and humble.
Today, left-liberals say something more like “YOU are 100% in the wrong, if you don’t agree with me 100% that our country and YOU are in the wrong!” A different category. More arrogance and malice, I think.
(So I’m not disagreeing with your comment. Only mentioning that today it’s even worse than Frost knew.)
#3-4: I know, ILC. Thanks!
