The meanest people in American politics are on the left, bar none. No conservative I know can hold a candle for sheer outright meanness, sometimes savagery. And of course, that comes from believing that power is everything and winning is the only thing that matters, which we do not believe.
GPW,
On my Blog I wrote a few posts detailing how the Left, like INGSOC, need an Emmanuel Goldstein. They de-humanize their opponents.
I grew up learning from machine democrats during the Reagan era, and these people respected (but disagreed) with Reagan.
This new generation (I call them Dean Democrats) need a Conservative to Hate. The best way to prove how open minded someone is:
I have a simple test — name 3 policies of the last 2 presidents that you support. I can do that with ANY President (President Obama gets his support after 1/20/10 because he is President, not because I support him).
When the little letter people show, they always need to Hate. Be it Palin, Ms. California, President Bush (I or II). And there is always an excuse not to support an American republican rather then say, a dictator who hates the American republican.
I think that most Lefties still hate the fact that Bush rid the world of a dictator who funded suicide bombers in Israel rather thenlet him stay in power. I think democrats today, would rather Saddam Hussain stay in power then President Bush’s theory of Democracy defeating terrorism be proven right (or even given a chance).
I bet the next few comments by the Left will prove the point correct — Democrats Hate and they love to hate. I like Americans of all views, shapes, and sizes. I have actually lived that life.
Can any democrat or Liberal say the same?
Before Bush 43 I actually was able to have conversations with Democrats. Liberal Democrats. After the disputed election, things changed. Some felt they got a raw deal so nothing was now off limits. It was surprising how many Democrats didn’t know or care to know why we had an electorial college for instance. It was just easy for them to cry and say they were screwed. The conservative led Supreme Court put a stop to local engenering of an election. They were demeaned. Offended and wounded, after 2000 they figured all bets were off. Attack in any form ruled the day. It continues. It isn’t enough that they control 90% of the broadcast media, they want no decent from the party line. I love history and politics. It use to be fun to have rousing debates and discussions with different viewpoints. That is all gone now. The louder you can yell the more names you can call your opponents, the more apt your are to get on any leftie tv show.
Gene,
Compare how republicans acted after the disputed election of 1960 (No Court challenge, no causing chaos to the Electoral process) compared to the Democrats in 2000 — they wanted to win under every circumstance and never gave Gov. (or President) Bush any benefit of the doubt.
The rhetoric used by the Media and the Left in 2008 was used against Bush in 2000, Dole in 96, Bush’s father in 92, and Reagan in 80 and 84.
The Left hates because it likes to hate.
Excellent quote! I love it because its so true.
Also, what did the GOP do after 1960? You don’t find too many books making a mockery of the Electoral process or whining about Kennedy’s father buying the election (I didn’t buy enough for a landslide — Joe kennedy sr.).
They sent out Goldwater (how was his treatment different from Palin’s today?) and then Nixon in 1968 — no one, not WFB, not our candidates, no one whined about losing in 1960.
The Democrats spent the past 8 years whining, sorry I meant WHIIIIIIIINING that maybe they got elected in 06 and 08 just to see how they would do.
They own it all – WH, Congress and still they Whine, still they Hate.
Take a look at close elections. If a Democrat loses it’s because, well someone scared off some liberal from standing in line voting. Some registrar worked to eliminate dead people or criminals from the voting rolls. So obviously, that is voter intimidation. Democrats in their own minds don’t lose elections because of faulty positions, they lose because someone cheated them.
Positions, if you are a conservative you are for starving children, throwing old people out in the streets, and slashing the safety net for the poor. I’ve always said most people only get about 23 minutes a day of news, after work. They don’t have much time to pay attention. When a veteran Democrat or newsman, paints a Republican as mean and stupid, I think 50% of Americans just shrug and say, probably so. We conservatives rely too much on logic and common sense to rule the day. Take school choice for example. It is obvious what needs to be done. There are solid results now. Yet, the media allows it to be kept a secret because they are in bed with the liberals and the teachers union.
This could be the biggest boon to improving the cities and state of black America, but then again, liberals don’t want a thinking, independent black community.
“PHOENIX — State lawmakers are moving to strip the domestic partners of state and university employees of the health insurance coverage they gained just a year ago…Senate Majority Whip Pamela Gorman, R-Anthem, said the question of who gets what benefits should be decided by state lawmakers. She said it was wrong of then-Gov. Janet Napolitano to make the change administratively.
Senate President Bob Burns, R-Peoria, said legislative oversight is particularly important this year, with the state running a deficit, and given there is a cost involved. ”
Can’t help families be supported and cared for if the parents are gay!
“For Gary Cass at the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission, it means urging his followers to avoid LGBT people at all costs. He says former vice president Dick Cheney’s support for same-sex unions “is likely … a result of the fact that he is the father of an open, practicing lesbian.” Cass continues:
“Who you allow into your life, and especially that of your children, really matters.
…You are who you associate with.
…Be very careful out there in the world. Remember, “Don’t be deceived; Bad company corrupts good morals.”
So the GOP in Arizona is going to strip gay people of their benefits, and the Christianists are advising God-fearing people to avoid GLBT entirely.
Man, those Democrats are so mean.
torrentprime,
Please rework your comment. I can not make head nor tail of it.
So the peoples representatives passing life changing legislation is mean?
Conservatives are against instituting ideas and controversial new laws by executive fiat. When it was done with abortion, we’ve had 40 years of roiling disagreement instead of acquiescence. If you get gay benefits instituted by a governor or President, instead of debated and agreed upon in legislatures you will have another 40 years of protests and fist fights. It’s just common sense. Liberals should work harder at passing legislation approved of by a majority of the people. have a debate , convince people of your argument. But they aren’t good at that. They quickly turn to name calling and attacks.
It’s called, addressing issues through the legislative process. To torrentprime, not giving him what he wants is mean.
Torrentprime,
Thank you for proving my point. Hate of Americans with differing views outweighs trying to convincing them.
Elections come next year, will you still hold onto your Emmanuel Goldstein or will adress issues that are actually brought up in conversations?
From what I’ve read, you need an American Emmanuel Goldstein like Linus needs his blanket.
Having state legislatures and a federal House and Senate must seem awfully mind boggling to a liberal. In their world all you need is a governor or a President to just institute what is “right”. The brilliance of the founding fathers is they knew the need for peoples houses to debate and convince the people of a righteous policy or law. If the people aren’t ready for prohibition of alcohol, it won’t take.
Yep, a pretty lame thing for the AZ GOP to do. I’m not a fan of the social cons and have made no secret of the fact in my view while they may have more redeeming values than those on the extreme Left, in many ways they are no different than them politically. Athough they may lack a compliant media to disseminate their message, unlike the Left, the rhetoric is the same even if the targets differ. Your post is a good example. “Christianists”? Why be so coy? Go for the proverbial “gold” and take a page from Julian Bond by calling them the American Taliban, or is that just reserved for when preaching to like-minded folks? Have those on the religious right overstepped by mixing religion and politics too much? Yep. Are they even close to being anything remotely resembling the Taliban? Not by a longshot and only a mindless fool would claim otherwise. Nope, what we have in this country are two parties out-of-control and both with powerful factions who wish to push the country to one or the other extreme. Perhaps it’s time to give divided government a chance again because at least that puts the brakes on the purists from both sides…
Indeed. What’s worse is when they pretend to give a crap about you and throw you some scraps, now and then, and then screw you royally with the most anti-gay laws.
Suck on that.
yawn, boring bullshit fantasy. Perhaps if “conservatives” spent less time whining about the sins of the left that they are equally guilty of, you might have an impact. As it stands….well, you must have at some time in your life spent time with a whiny child.
Instead of condemning the Arizona GOP for saying that we need to cut out gay family members, we blame liberals because somehow pointing this out because is “mean.” Here we have GOP’ers saying that you must cover your eyes and ears to different view points yet somehow it’s the liberals fault because they can’t convince people who refuse to listen.
That makes no sense.
And brings me to the questions that no conservative have been able to answer:
Why is the conservative mindset so fragile that you cannot self reflect?
Funny how torrentprime picks on Christians who are, by their teachings, supposed to avoid people who publicly sin but is silent about Moslems who think gays should all be killed also by their teachings?
There is a word for that down here. It’s coward. You can also use bigot and maybe hypocrite. But then he’s a liberal so it’s all cool
And he really trusts the people too. Like with Roe vs Wade or anything else, I suspect you can oppose executive or judicial changes in the law that should be legislative while agreeing with the policy? Sadly this means I assume a liberal can be rational and honorable and I have learned to my detriment neither are true.
Funny how gillie can’t respond to the post, but has to go on with the AZ bit.
So gillie, if the gouvernor of KS had denied domestic partnerships, but the congress would override her, are they still ‘mean’?
and adDave *yawn* links please or your annoying carping remains just that.
Gillie,
Also proving my point: It’s easier to Hate rather then convert.
On the Right, we have a line: Republicans think democrats are wrong, Democrats think Republicans are evil.
Gillie, you just proved you would rather Hate Americans who disagree then say, convert them. Keep up the attitude – we have elections in 2010 and 2012, and we can point to you to show how magnaminous the Liberals REALLY are in victory.
Game, set, match.
“Christians who are, by their teachings, supposed to avoid people who publicly sin”
That depends on who is doing the teaching. Since what you say clashes with Jesus saying to go to the world and preach the Gospel. A bit difficult to preach the Gospel to people you are avoiding. It’s those that are sick who need the doctor correct? The churches who “avoid those who are publicly sinning” are also the ones who sit in judgment of everyone else and who seek to use the gov’t to enforce their twisted legalistic nonsense that has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. That said, you are correct that SOME Muslims teach that gays should be killed and those who are silent about that need to wake up. But, because one is wrong does not mean that the other is perfect and the insane denial on here of the hostility from SOME Christians is destructive. Oh, but wait, some one here actually agree with the hostility and would/will/do happily participate in it.
Livewire, I’m so sorry, I just assumed you had read the post and all the comments so I did not need to link to them. Or are you incapable of scrolling down? But since I live to serve pseudo-conservatives here’s a prime example of a boring whine, followed by all kinds of comments, some actually move from whine into anger, hostility, meanness and hate. Oh but the right wing isn’t like that is it. barf

clean your own house
How ironic,
I read that article yesterday adDave. It’s experiences match my own. So in adDave land, examples of liberals shouting down conservatives is conservatives ‘whining’. I love it.
adDave,
Why should we clean our own house when it was proven throughout the last 8 years, that whining, de-humanizing the opposition and shouting down those who speak diferenttly (as what I watched at the A Festival of books event when Hugh Hewitt, david frum, Galen Grief and Robert Scheer were there. And the Liberals in the audience, the folks from the West Side showed there tolerance by trying to silence Frum and Hewitt) worked for the Left?
Hate helped you guys win elections — maybe we learned from YOU.
Since what you say clashes with Jesus saying to go to the world and preach the Gospel. A bit difficult to preach the Gospel to people you are avoiding.
Jesus also said this:
And as for those who do not receive you, as you go out from that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”
Luke 9:5
One of these days, antireligious bigots like adDave are going to realize that their commenting on a book they’ve never read and a faith they mock and denounce at every opportunity sets them up for looking like halfwits.
But I hope not too soon.
NDT, you are the perfect example of a bottom feeding hate mongering liar that unfortuneatly is destroying conservatism right now.
I am not antireligious nor a bigot. I am against those who use the Bible as a weapon against those they despise. Using God as an excuse for man-made hate and hostility is using His name in vain to the extreme. I refuse to get into a scripture tidbit war because that is a weapon of the legalist who has totally missed the concepts of what Jesus taught. The topic was NOT about those who would not receive Jesus, because YOU and the sado-christians have no idea what anyone’s relationship is with Jesus Christ. But, I wish all the poser-christians would shake the dust of their feet and move to Iran because their religion is the same as the fanatic Muslims.
While I am by far not a Biblical scholar, considering the amount of time I have spent studying and commenting and writing papers about the Bible, you just told one more of your disgusting, hate-base lies. Your words and attitudes towards those you disagree with prove that if you do claim to be a Christian you simply don’t know what that means or who Jesus Christ was. And if you are Jewish as I know some on here are you have totally missed the boat on their teaching also (which it is true I don’t know that much about but I can’t imagine practicing hate is part of it). The only religious people you resemble are those who are hanging gays in Iran, an activity I believe you would get pleasure out of as long as they were the gaysex liberal faggots that you so often condemn.
You need to take a long honest look at yourself sir
#13, I missed it before. Excellent comments!
I am against those who use the Bible as a weapon against those they despise.
Except, of course, when you attempt to do it.
Since what you say clashes with Jesus saying to go to the world and preach the Gospel.
Next:
I refuse to get into a scripture tidbit war because that is a weapon of the legalist who has totally missed the concepts of what Jesus taught.
LOL….this is an updated version of the medieval Catholic Church putting the Bible on the List of Forbidden Books. The point is the same, though; if no one ever reads it for fear of being attacked, then you can claim it says whatever you like and no one can challenge you.
And finally:
The topic was NOT about those who would not receive Jesus, because YOU and the sado-christians have no idea what anyone’s relationship is with Jesus Christ.
But of course, adDave then goes on to claim that HE knows what everyone else’s relationship is with Jesus Christ….even though he doesn’t know what their religious beliefs are…..or what the belief system he claims they belong to is….
But, I wish all the poser-christians would shake the dust of their feet and move to Iran because their religion is the same as the fanatic Muslims…..
Besides, adDave,it’s hilarious that you claim to speak for Jesus, but then throw out His own words as “legalistic” when they are inconvenient. Do you really care what He says? Or are you just trying to twist His words to support your gospel of gay-sex liberalism and promiscuity?
JSF –
Please show me how I “just proved you would rather Hate Americans who disagree then say, convert them”
Can you do it without projecting this time?
Gillie,
Always when you ever comment on this Blog (strange, how you feel not to put your views on your OWN Blog too) and always blame President Bush, even now, 6 months after he left. Orwell described someone who subjected to 2 minute hates long after he thrown out of office in his book 1984: Emmanuel Godstein.
And you subscribe to it, time and again — rather then, say find common ground and convince people (wow! You know you can do that!) You never defend President Obama, instead, you attack Republicans.
I gave a challenge on my first comment. I will do it with President Bush (2001 -2008) and President Clinton (1992 – 2000), if you go first. Show me you do not need a two minute hate.
Your writings throughout this Blog prove otherwise. And if you can’t answer the challenge, STFU about how Bi-partisan Democrats are trying to be, you still need your Emmanuel Goldstein; I just see Presidents who i think are wrong, and Presidents I think are closer to my views — but I view them all as Americans (and somehow respect people who voted for them — something you cannot do)
I quite agree. You are an ass.
You may have been told that you aren’t because your a ball sucking liberal, but based on your comments here, you are a hate filled anti-religious bigot.
And I’m offended by some two-bit ball sucker who compares Christians to Islamo-fascists while at the same time maintaining that he has no idea what the hell he’s talking about.
You, AdD, are so blinded by hate that you have no
fuckingidea what you’re talking about. You’re just vommiting billious hatred while claiming that you’re not. You’re offensive to anyone with half a brain.NDT and TGC, thanks for the laughs this morning. Amazing how you can be so completely unable to understand simple English yet claim superiority. Funny (sad) how NDT in previous comments attacks others as faggots and TGC uses descriptions of sexual activity as an insult. Nope, no self-hatred here.
Neither of you are worth my time responding to today, I’d have to go sentence by sentence explaining how what you claim I meant is totally wrong. Hopefully someday true conservatives will send your type back to the caves you dragged your knuckles out of. Until then, you are their problem not mine. As I said before, yawn.
#28
Agian, you could not show how I “just proved you would rather Hate Americans who disagree then say, convert them””
Instead AGAIN you use projection.
(And If I had a blog, no one would read it because frankly, I am not so interesting and it would be full of Typooos)
Frankly gillie, you’re not interesting.
You spout off talking points then when cornered run away instead of backing them up it’s a pattern of gillies and typical liberal tactics.
I hereby throw my support to a different Dave to be the Obama Czar for Church and State. He seems to have a martinet’s feeling for religious debate and a satrap’s devotion to serving his political master. gillie, on the other hand, should be the Projection Czar and Court Jester.
HAHAHAHA
As I said earlier Gillie, game, set, match.
Find me 10 (non sarcastic) comments written here that you don’t Hate Republicans and Conservatives — hint: You can’t.
Anyone want to guess when Gillie, proud memeber of INGSOC, will write a rant about how evil Republicans/Conservaties/Bush is….
I am guessing within the next 5 comments he writes, since he obviously needs an Emmanuel Goldstein, just like Linus’ blankie. HAHAHA. Anyone think it will take a shorter time?
Oh, and Blogging? Even in the basic set-up (Blogger), they have designed SPELL CHECK. Wow! Modern technology! Still happier to be a critic then to actually, you know, stand for your OWN beliefs.
This has been fun — proving my point in the end.
#34 are you NDT, TGC as absolutely ignorant and warped as you seem. There was no debate until NDT started his stream of lies and attack. I made an observation not a proclamation. The difference between me and you folks is I understand that what I say is my opinion based on something I have read/learned etc. For you, if you say it it’s a set in stone fact – a juvenile way of looking at things. Politics has nothing to do with what I said. Unbelievable how some of you can turn anything into a cesspool of lies and hostility and then the rest jump in for a circle jerk. It’s actually a good thing for the country and the world because it shows how irrational and impotent you really are. I feel sorry for the true conservative, y’all make it incredibly difficult for them to be taken seriously.
And here are such “observations”:
yawn, boring bullshit fantasy. Perhaps if “conservatives” spent less time whining about the sins of the left that they are equally guilty of, you might have an impact. As it stands….well, you must have at some time in your life spent time with a whiny child.
Or:
The churches who “avoid those who are publicly sinning” are also the ones who sit in judgment of everyone else and who seek to use the gov’t to enforce their twisted legalistic nonsense that has nothing to do with Jesus Christ.
The problem here, heliotrope, is that the little boy adDave isn’t used to being challenged on his liberal spew. When he is, he starts stamping his feet and screaming, “I hate you! You never loved me! If you loved me, you wouldn’t make me do things! It’s not fair! WAAAAAAAH,” just like he used to do when Mommie asked him to clean his room.
As an example of Christian, charming discourse, I submit the following:
Here is the translation:You are a disgusting, base, hate filled liar. I know this as a Christian. And as a Christian, I rise above your tactics in every way save for branding you a disgusting, base, hate filled liar.
Looks like a piety dance to me. Hence my nomination for a different Dave to be the Czar of Church and State.
Livewire,
Gillie should henceforth be known here as:Brave Sir Robin (of Monty Python’s Holy grail).
He ran from an easy question.
HAHAHAHA
The governor also stated, “No conservative I know can hold a candle for sheer outright meanness, sometimes savagery. And of course, that comes from believing that power is everything and winning is the only thing that matters, which we do not believe.” If that last sentence doesn’t aptly describe Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and Tom Delay I don’t know what does. The bottom line is that both parties are more interested in winning and power above anything else and that both parties are capable of incredible meanness and savagery. Both sides like to hug themselves and talk about how righteous they are and how bad the other side is. They should get some mirrors out because neither group is above that sort of behavior.
Mr. Moderate, I couldn’t agree more. Excellent points.
