All but lost amidst David Letterman’s half-hearted apology to the Governor of Alaska for his crude references to he daughter was the late night talk show host’s failure to address his description of her look as that of a “slutty flight attendant“.
Back in 1992 when then-journalist David Brock called law professor Anita Hill (who herself rose to fame for her slander of then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas) “a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty,” politically correct pundits worked themselves up into a lather. They had a point. So, if it’s inappropriate and deserving of censure to calla female law professor “slutty,” wouldn’t it then be inappropriate to so describe the appearance of a female Governor as such?
Has any conservative pundit (or other public figure) called a prominent left-of-center woman “slutty” since Brock so described Ms. Hill? If so, was he (or she) called on it?
David Letterman still has some apologizing to do.
So, perhaps it is time for CBS to let the talk show host go.
*Since 1992
**(in deference to bob below:) Or Comedien.
Remember when David Shuster of PMSNBC made a comment during the 2008 campaign about how the Clinton camp “pimped out” Chelsea for public appearances? Remember the tons of outrage directed at the network by liberals which then forced Shuster to both apologize and be suspended for a period of time from the network?
Remind me again – which political affiliation is supposed to be the “tolerant” one?
Regards,
Peter H.
I supported Hillary during the primaries. I was amazed at the sexist vitriol thrown her way. I think if she’d been called a “slutty flight attendant,” she’d have been happy. Remember Amy Poehler? Then, after seeing my party swing far left, I decided to support McCain and was excited by Sarah Palin. I think they just crossed out “Hillary” and used the same attacks. Remember Tina Fey? Let’s see–now who did Obama on SNL? Did anyone repeat Obama’s verbal, non-prompter, gaffes word-for-word as a sketch? I can’t seem to remember. . .
That’s a description of a political journey I don’t understand.
What about Jane Curtin?
Ignatius, that was prior to 1992. 🙂
(Still, good one, very good one.)
Nevermind. 😉
david letterman is not a pundit; he’s a comedian.
please learn the difference and then report back.
The Clintons, Evan Bayh, Ben Nelson, et. al., represent the conservative wing of the Democratic party. Because I support things like guest worker passes for undocumented workers and a government-backed option for health care, I am not a Republican. I am a “new” Democrat. You might remember that Hillary was attacked for being the clone of McCain, which I think is a good thing, since I am closer to McCain, Snowe, etc. than I am to Obama. I probably wouldn’t vote for Palin for president, but I like her a lot, and, again, I agree with her on more things than I do Obama or Pelosi. There isn’t really a party for those of us who are somewhere between Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann.
I don’t see why Pelosi and Michelle don’t get more bad jokes thrown at them.
given your lack of a sense of humor, i can’t say i’m surprised that you misspelled comedian.
At least I capitalize my “I”s.
there is a difference between intentionally choosing to not capitalize on an internet forum and clearly demonstrating that you cannot spell a simple word (or, in other cases, master simple concepts of grammar). hopefully when you’re a grown up you’ll understand the distinction, ash.
There is a difference between one offering constructive criticism and one who’s just an arrogant SOB. The latter can’t make a rational argument for anything, so he has to attack spelling, grammar etc.
Hopefully when you’re a grown up you’ll understand the distinction, ass.
well, TGC, according to GPW, i often do offer constructive criticism…so i suppose you’ll have to take that up with him.
and when i do provide thoughtful comments, i’m usually called a libtard or a fascist (from people who obviously do not know the definition of a fascist) or a gay sex liberal.
Well, bob, when you want to emulate Hitler you make it pretty clear you’re not a lover of freedom.
When you support the Government taking over banks, auto industries, and other private businesses, that makes you a fascist, bob.
bob you’re amazing. With all that is going on, you choose to use the valuable space on GAY PATRIOT to criticise someone’s spelling??
Please give us the most recent leftist take on Obamateleprompters weak response to the Iranian election corruption. His lack of support for the young democrats in Iran. How many more killings will happen before he comes out publically in support of the demonstrators? Do you agree he shouldn’t “meddle”…..his word.
What do you think of Michelles recent outfit when walking the dog around the mansion? Baby got back.

Do you think Sotamoyer is a racist? Sexist? Did our young President today say “get ready for 10% or more” unemployment? When just one month ago his hand chosen economic advisors said the stimulus (pork) bill would prevent unemp from going above 8%! (talk about a miss by a mile). As a leftist apologist for Obama and the Democrats, do you have any advice for the record 6.8 million unemployed? What do you think of Obama admitting he has Muslim relatives and a Muslim father after denying that during the campaign. So few leftists show up here anymore, I’d like your insight if you don’t mind.
gene,
please educate yourself:

and for the 10 millionth time, limewire, i never said hitler’s policies were good. what i said, in direct response to someone’s question about whether federal (Keynesian) spending can stimulate growth, was that there was an interesting article in the NYT talking about how essentially stimulus spending in germany in world war two helped revive their economy. whether or not that regime was horrible or not (we all know it was) is separate from whether there is any legitimacy in keynesianism.
your incessant need to push that line of attack on me is not only bizarre and tiring, but it also appears to be evidence of some sort of strange obsession you have with either me or hitler, i’m not sure which. and frankly, i’m not sure i want to know.
Um….it was a joke. He was kidding.
Repeat…it was a joke. He was kidding.
He’s also apologized his patootite off. I know you guys are freaked out because your party is going down the tubes, but the more drama the Republicans try to create, the sillier you look. Let it go. There’s much more important things to think about.
going down the tubes? You got that right, I’m a democrat and the Democratic party went down the tubes long before the election even happened
Seems this whole thing of standing against the pedophile has struck a nerve with Alex. Geee, I wonder why
We need a round of Letterman apologies here: I’m sorry you weren’t smart enough to understand me. 🙂
whether or not that regime was horrible or not (we all know it was) is separate from whether there is any legitimacy in keynesianism.
Actually, no; Keynesian economics were so successful in Nazi Germany that they only had to control the industries and the banks, redo the currency, loot billions in bullion and investments from Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and France, import hundreds of thousands of slave laborers, and harvest down to the gold fillings of Jews in order to keep their economy functional.
What that example proves is that Keynesian economics “work” when the government owns and controls everything, can mandate what everyone does, and can essentially steal from anyone it chooses. Here in the real world, an interesting nugget of fact has been turned up:
Top Obama economic adviser Christina Romer has studied 20th-century recessions and concluded that monetary tools, not fiscal spending, produced recoveries. Even in the Great Depression, monetary expansion, not FDR’s public works, opened the way toward recovery beginning in the spring of 1933.
But wait, there’s more:
They are also betting on the fact that a package divided between $550 billion in spending and $275 billion in tax cuts will be the right mix, even though Romer’s research also shows tax cuts to have a larger multiplier effect on the economy than spending.
Gee, I wonder why? Is it because tax cuts reward those who are doing things that generate taxes, like working and operating businesses, while government spending just rewards welfare addicts like Obama’s Auntie Zeituni, the criminal illegal immigrant who receives free healthcare, cheap housing, a no-show job, and fat welfare checks at the expense of other working taxpayers?
I used to wonder why Obama Party leftists like boob were so willing to raise taxes. Now that we’ve seen Geithner, Solis, Sebelius, Rangel, Stark, and others, I know the answer: they don’t pay them.
Oh, my stars and garters! I actually agree with North Dallas Thirty about something! 🙂
I am, in fact, appalled that anyone over the age of 12 with an IQ greater than their height in inches is not aware of the simple fact that Nazi Germany was running their economy into the ground with their massive remilitarization efforts before WW2. The only thing that prevented economic collapse was the later conquest of Europe, which allowed them to plunder other countries.
…And this somehow validates Keynesian economics? Oy-vey!
Oh, now, for the first time, he changes his story.
But hey, just because bob believes direct goverment control of private business, in a Keynsian fashion, is a valid option, he’s not a fascist.
fascism (n) system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship.
Government control of socioeconomic means? *check*
suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship *check*
Sure bob, you’re not a fascist. If the brownshirt fits…
#21: Thank you, NDT, for cleaning boob’s clock and throwing back the curtains on his unbelievable, wide-eyed ignorance. Of course, we’ve all gotten used to the standard liberal approach to advocating totalitarianism: “…there’s no dispute that [insert genocidal dictator’s name here] was a bad person, buuuuuuuut…” (i.e. “Yes, Saddam Hussein was a bad guy, buuuuuuut…”) However, you’ve really got to wonder what went wrong in someone’s life when the “for instance” happens to be HITLER. Word to the wise: when you’re listening to someone and they use the expression, “Oh, don’t get me wrong, Hitler was horrible and such, buuuuuuuuut……,” RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Just a word about Saturday Night Live. In defense of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, I don’t think they went too far in their parodies of Hillary and Sarah–it’s just their guy-colleagues didn’t do enough to take Joe Biden and Barack Obama down a peg or two. It was unbalanced.
Palin herself volunteered Willow and Bristol to baby-sit Fey’s kids, so she understands the difference. When we get mad about legitimate parody, we dilute the real message, which is that the sexism directed against both Hillary and Sarah were egregious.
bob and other leftists would not have protested the Jewish “problem” during Hitlers reign either. Let the Germans work out their own problems eh? NICE.
#16 bob you didn’t address the other topics of interest. We were waiting for the liberal take on Obamas other challenges. Did you view the video of the liberals Democrat bastion the city of Detroit?
read the article, casey.
oh, and the article was written by a jewish person, ass.
an excerpt for the lazy:
In the summer of 1933, just as they will do on Thursday, heads of government and their finance ministers met in London to talk about a global economic crisis. They accomplished little and went home to battle the crisis in their own ways.
More than any other country, Germany — Nazi Germany — then set out on a serious stimulus program. The government built up the military, expanded the autobahn, put up stadiums for the 1936 Berlin Olympics and built monuments to the Nazi Party across Munich and Berlin.
The economic benefits of this vast works program never flowed to most workers, because fascism doesn’t look kindly on collective bargaining. But Germany did escape the Great Depression faster than other countries. Corporate profits boomed, and unemployment sank (and not because of slave labor, which didn’t become widespread until later). Harold James, an economic historian, says that the young liberal economists studying under John Maynard Keynes in the 1930s began to debate whether Hitler had solved unemployment.
Like I said, everyone. Head for the hills.
So bob’s solution for economic growth,
Nationalize everything, have the President grow a moustache, invade Canada, and round up all the Jews, Jehova’s Witnesses and Gays (you know, those folks the kind and loving administration actually has compared to pedophiles and incestous cousins, something NJ Bigot falsely accuses us of routinely). And march us off.
bob’s not a student of history, he forgets that there were ‘Jews-for-Hitler’ just like there are ‘Queers-for-Palastine’ today.
What an entertaining and enlightening thread.
bob: Everything that others are saying about you and your arguments here, is true.
