Blood, Fire & Ice Cream

June 21, 2009 by GayPatriot

What a big contrast of photos this weekend…. heroes and cowards

blood

fire

icecream

While the Iranian people are yearning for freedom from a dictator and putting their lives on the line — President Obama chooses not to golf this weekend, but rather to go get some ice cream.

I am confident that Presidents Reagan, Bush (both) and Clinton would be forcefully encouraging pro-democracy efforts in Iran — as their policies have dictated throughout those years.  While we are on the verge of a huge victory for freedom in the Post 9/11 world, our President fiddles.

The best President Obama can do is send chilly signals to the Iranian people while the ice cream slides down his throat.  Pathetic and disappointing.

[RELATED:  Obama Dithers While Iran Burns – The Weekly Standard]

Obama supporters defended his silence. Anything he said to endorse the protests, they argued, would taint the protesters’ message and damage their cause.

The protesters, many of whom held signs written in English, seemed to disagree. “On several occasions, I’ve had supporters of Mousavi say we need President Obama,” reported CNN’s Reza Sayah, from Tehran. When Wolf Blitzer asked Sayah directly whether the protesters want Obama to speak out in support of their cause, Sayah responded: “I think they do, but they’re realistic.”

It’s like he’s signaling to Iran and the world, I’ve had my say, now leave me alone, weekends are for fun and relaxation.
Except he is the leader of the free world, one who doesn’t respect or see the value of freedom.

Jimmy Carter went out of his way to facilitate this mess in Iran 30 years ago, now Obama is doing everything in his power to make sure real change does not come to the middle east.

Quite frankly deep inside I’m not so sure Obama does not have a problem with the lack of freedom the Iranian people are oppressed under. He is , at heart, a marxist and socialist and by the fast track he has exhibited in trying to diminsh the freedoms of the American people why would he care about the Iranians lack of same. The power the mullahs wield may secretly appeal to him, wouldn’t he like that same power…He is a narcissist who is more concerned with his own self promotion and being “cool”… swatting flies and giving stand up comedy routines at White House Correspondence dinners and the like. The man is an empty suit and all this was blaringly clear during the election, but it seems half the American people have become empty suits as well and only wanted the best American Idol candidate. What folly. There is a universal law at work…you reap what you sow. We will reap much ruin under this man’s “rule’ . But it seems some folks could care less as long as they have their SUV’s, cds, dvds, McDonalds dinners…only when these indivduals start to suffer and loose what “stuff” they have left or have to do without will they then turn on Obama. And it is coming. He is going to make such a mess of this country he will be the most hated President in history. The lefts hate for Bush will look like puppy love. It is sad teh gay community on the whole has trusted and put their hope in thsi man as well. He could care less about them except for their money and votes. He is a typical politician and the gay community ( as well as others) bought into it. And he throws them a bone by letting them get long term care in federal jobs and use sick leave to care for partners…but no medical coverage and other benefits that are vital for partners is allowed. What a joke. When the polls turn he’ll throw another meatless bone.

It’s plain that the Iranian regime is wicked and I’d be thrilled to see Ahmadinejad and Khamenei hanging from lamp posts. But I don’t know what Obama (or anyone else) can realistically do to make this happen. What more can he say?

Obama is not responsible for what’s going on in Iran. Iranians are responsible for what’s going on in Iran. Ahmadinejad would be little more than a babbling loon if he wasn’t backed up by many, many people.

This butchery has been going on for years and the regime really doesn’t give a hoot what the rest of the world thinks and says because they know there’s nothing we can actually do about it. Remember – we “encouraged democracy” in Iraq after Gulf War I and then failed to lift a finger to back it up.

“But I don’t know what Obama (or anyone else) can realistically do to make this happen. What more can he say?”

For starters, he could restore the funding of pro-democracy efforts in Iran. (But given that he chose to totally cut off such funds suggests that he cares far more about appeasing thugs than advancing freedom.)

And regarding what he could say, please remember that his first statements about the crisis were pathologically “even-handed” and he only spoke out more strongly in favor of freedom of speech and assembly after much public ridicule.

“We support the Iranian people, and today the Iranian people are on the street,”

Would that have been so hard for Obama? Every American President from Reagan on has said something to this effect when people around the world have turned out to fight for their freedom.

I’m not asking Obama do send troops, or even money at this time. but as someone who has no problem telling the Israelis what they HAVE to do, and that is not meddling. He could have issued a statement like our congress did.

yawn. It’s going to be a LONG, LONG decade for your repugnant republicans.

Yaaaawn. Apparently you don’t read the polls. Obama is possibly still popular, though I have serious doubt about that. His policies are absolutely not, as people oppose every single policy he has implemented. Americans trust Republicans more on the economy and national security. Only 38% of Americans (your fellow “nutlovers” most likely) think the country is going in the right direction, Republicans are tied on the generic ballot (in 1994, Democrats were slightly ahead on the generic ballot)

And naturally, being a liberal, you know absolutely nothing about policy or history. But everything your party is doing is making things worse. Unemployment is skyrocketing, jobs are being outsourced at record levels, inflation is climbing, and about to skyrocket, as are interest rates

Yet you keep regurgitating the same BORING line about, “its gonna be a long decade.” Just as other liberals of your despondently low intellect thought Democrats were going to be in control for ages when they took control of congress when Bill Clinton came to power. They didnt. They were out on their asses as fast as Americans could get to the polls.

What you dont seem to get, nor does anyone in your intellectually and morally bankrupt party, is that Ronald Reagan changed things and your weak imitation isn’t going to change them back. You see, Reagans ideas endure to this day, NOT because of the strength of his personality, but because they are CORRECT ideas.

And therein is why Obama, and every liberal will fail, your ideas are not correct, they are totalitarian, divisive and flat ignorant. And it doesnt matter how likeable your candidates are, its your IDEAS that dont work.

Far from being in power for a decade, Democrats should start packing their bags now and save themselves the time.

Almost form his foirst day in office the Democrats attempted to hold President Bush to an impossible standard: almost everything he did was open to analysis and criticism and he got no credit or breaks whatsoever.

This, of course, had a lot less to do with President Bush’s actual performance than it did with the Democrats’ lust for reattaining power, but the fact remains that they spent eight years conditioning the public and the media to an impossible standard of behavior and an almost nonexistant standard of fairness when the President was concerned.

So now the Empty Savior is being held to the standard many of his administration had a hand in creating… the fact that he really DOES look like a total loser compared to either G.W.Bush or Ronald Reagan is sort of icing on the cake.

Obama is trying to vote “present” on Iran and the demonstrators know it.

On another note, the Obamacade left 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, crossed the Potomac, wended its way by Reagan International and went to the 2300 block of Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria to The Dairy Godmother for a lick of custard.

Obambi was having a father moment with his little girls by riding limos flanked by sirens and numerous police cars and Suburbans full of Secret Service on a Saturday after noon. They stayed at The Dairy Godmother licking their waffle cones while real people were cordoned off and traffic was diverted.

What the heck kind of lesson is being taught? In the limousine world of a man of high profile and great power, every little movement in public has creates waves that have meanings of their own.

Why didn’t they haul their platoon of cooks out to the picnic tables in the White House play area and make custard or ice cream and show the new little rich kids that you can have father-daughter time without riding limos and tying up traffic. Heck, they could have taken a helicopter ride up to Camp David and burned hot dogs over a camp fire.

The Messiah likes to be a parade.

While freedom fighters and young activists are in the streets dying….how depressing if the images of America being shown are our out of touch, out of his depth Obamateleprompter giving tacit approval of the murders. While typically I agree with our noble hosts, on this matter I think that the American government…distinct from the American people…needs to carefully avoid providing the “proof” that the Iranian freedom-seekers are “American dupes” or pawns. There is a huge chasm between the popular on-the-street opinion of our government by the Iranian people, and our people and culture. And we must squarely-admit that our various government instrumentalities have a toxic history in Iran.

For a revolution, or even an evolutionary political-reformation, to be authentic and long-lasting it must be seen as legitimate and home-grown. That’s half our problem in Iraq….and Afghanistan. There’s a fine line between being morally-supportive…and being perceived as manipulative.

Can you imagine Michael Moore making a movie exposing BO anytime soon?

What would spineless BO do if there were a movie made about him similar to “W” or “Farenheit 911?” At a minimum, he would whine about it the same way he singled out reference to big bad Fox News recently. At a maximum, he would send his Chicago thugs after the filmmaker the minute he heard there was a film in the works. Maybe send the IRS after the filmmaker too, just like Nixon. Of course, nobody in the MSM would think to even report about this.

I wonder if history would repeat itself if there were still more reporters around who lived through Nixon pre-Watergate and post-Watergate.
