Although the “White House has not publicized” it,
. . . President Obama has invited some [gay and lesbian] leaders to an East Room reception next Monday to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, the 1969 Greenwich Village demonstrations that gave birth to the modern gay rights movement.
I’m just guessing gay Republicans didn’t make the guest list. It will be interesting to see who did.
According to the New York Times, Shin Inouye, a White House spokesman, said, “This event was long planned as a way to applaud these individuals during Pride month.”
Methinks this is mere window dressing, or, to put it in political terms, damage control. Just more political theater. One individual “who received the invitation said the White House was billing the event as a celebration.” At a celebration, the guests there may not have much on a chacnce to confront the President on his failure to live up to his campaign promises. But, maybe they will.
I’ll reserve all further judgment until after the event takes place next week.
(H/t: Riehl World View.)
Long planned as in the day after they realized they’re gonna miss out on some cash from those idiot proles.
He’ll sweet talk them about how important it is to enslave Americans with nationalized healthcare and cripple the economy with cap and trade first, but that he will be sure to render the institution of marriage meaningless just as soon as ever he can.
PS: anyone else having problems leaving comments here lately?
I wonder if I’madinnerjacket will want the place sanitized before his cookout then?

Ah, my mistake, we’re just letting Iranians into our Embassies.
Insert Irony here.
It’s more political musical theatre. . .
Will he let them in without a checkbook?
Just another cheap, opportunistic and now-desperate attempt to make nice to the Gay ATM-machine before it’s self-deletes the DNC’s pin-number and eats their card…
At least the 23% of the G/L community that voted Republican basically knows where their party stands, grits their teeth, and supports it for economic and geopolitical reasons under Reagan’s 90%-Rule.
I doubt those useful idiots on the GayLeftLib borg will man up enough to even bring up The Snob’s failed campaign promises, let alone his position on Iran’s democracy movement.
Instead, they’ll just bare their backsides and scream “thank you sir, may I have another?”
Wonder if The Snob will do like Clinton did and make sure that all the Secret Servicemen wear rubber gloves when greeting the GLBT-ers.
And if the State-Run Media would even report it, like they barely did last time.
Regards,
Peter H.
“I’m just guessing gay Republicans didn’t make the guest list.”
Of course not. If you’re a Republican, you’re not really gay.
Obama’s solution is always to invite his critics to a party. Republicans had no say in the stimulus legislation, but Obama had them over for a Super Bowl Party. He’s double-crossed his gay voters, so he’ll invite them over for cocktails. That’s good enough, right?
By offering a meaningless social gesture, he thinks he’s protected himself from all criticism… “Of course I support the gay community! I invited them to the White House for a reception! Of course I want bi-partisan input on legislation! To prove it, I invited Republicans to a cocktail party! I’ve done all I can to play nice, but they just won’t play nice….”
very good point Jana
#11: Yes, it is a very good point, Jana. And perfectly consistent with Obama’s plan to celebrate America’s birthday next month with a bunch of Iranian scumbags.

There is nothing wrong about being gay or lesbian, enjoying the people of the same sex. I am not gay and I enjoy those of the same sex. The problem comes in when these people have sex with one they are not married [that is between a man and a woman] to. Just abstain from sex and continue life. There are plenty of things we have to abstain from as humans, just add sex to the list,
