Obama’s Star Power Waning
OBAMA HEALTHCARE INFOMERCIAL A RATINGS BUST.
Looks like he’ll need more than personality to sell health care reform.
UPDATE: Seems people’s failure to tune in suggests that people don’t see our health care system is as dire straits as the President contends:
Such a pressing issue that we must not wait, we can’t afford to hesitate, government has to act … and act now. Television viewers acted. They changed the channel, yielding ratings on par with some 8 p. m. comedy repeats.
UP-UPDATE: Obama’s Michael Dukakis moment.

I was busy working in order to pay my taxes!!!
Otherwise, ABC knew it was whoring itself to Obama. Now that the Jeanie is out of the proverbial bottle, I wonder if ABC’s business will suffer because of this. I’m never viewing ABC again and totally refuse to go on there websites.
So, how long is it going to take when Disney puts ABC on the market???

I was watching Chef! on DVD. Doesn’t seem the “useful idiots” at OBC got the support they’re looking for and now Jake Tapper’s trying to appear unbiased.
Rush is right. Somebody needs to ask Chumpy Obamalini if Obamacare will be as successful as the porkulus.

BTW, I’m getting fed up with these damned crises the liberals fabricate. Day after day we have a new death du jour that these bastards politicize. We’re always told “if we don’t do it RIGHT NOW, we’re doomed”.
And let’s not forget the useful strawman “some say we shouldn’t do anything…..”.
When will people realize the brazen fraud that is the liberal left?

I just called my congressman and told the poor woman who answered the phone that I do not appreciate this new ruling class we have. That congress gets to keep it’s excellent health care while penalizing us.
That they use some bogus cap and trade to destroy our economy.
I ended with the environment exists to make human lives better not worse.
and, Hope is a city in Arkansas and change is destroying America.

Dan, I am so glad you posted something about this because in addition to being a ratings flop, the infomercial (despite the Administration and ABC’s efforts to sanitize the program by limiting negative arguments and information) ended up confirming some of the plan’s most atrocious inevitable results. Although I’m disgusted by ABC’s shameless participation in this blatant advertisement for Obamacare (and the network’s indignant response to legitimate criticism), the upside is that since all press related to Obama is stringently restricted and staged, he tends to let his guard down and admits to many of the facts that the administration was trying to censor in the first place.
The best example is being reported in the LA Times today, and this story they are running needs to go viral if we really want Obamacare to go down in flames. Here’s the terrifying part of the story:
President Obama suggested at a town hall event Wednesday night that one way to shave medical costs is to stop expensive and ultimately futile procedures performed on people who are about to die and don’t stand to gain from the extra care. In a nationally televised event at the White House, Obama said families need better information so they don’t unthinkingly approve “additional tests or additional drugs that the evidence shows is not necessarily going to improve care.” He added: “Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller.”

Obama is such a dolt (and so accustomed to being surrounded by sycophants) that he doesn’t even realize he’s admitting that Obamacare will lead to exactly what conservatives have been warning: GOVERNMENT RATIONING OF HEALTHCARE. The Democrats have been trying to suppress this fact from the beginning, but Obama just conceded the point in his ameteurish, spread-the-wealth-around way that we have seen before. Either Obama is completely fine with the bureaucratic rationing of healthcare services and can’t imagine why we would have a problem with it (terrifying), or he’s just so fu*king clueless that he has no idea that discussing “savings” in the same sentence with “medical decisions” and “people about to die” IS, in fact, a discussion about heathcare rationing. Either way, this shocking admission should be used to attack the Administration and the plan with unrelenting, extreme prejudice.
Liberals have been screaming at us that we MUST “reform” the US healthcare system because it is broken beyond repair. They have never been challenged by the MSM to prove their premise and they have been allowed to jump right to the debate of how socialized medicine should be implemented. One of the typical (and unproven) claims is that the EVIL insurance companies have been getting away with denying life-saving procedures and treatment to their policy-holders with impunity. Conversely, they have suppressed any discussion or suggestion that a government system leads to shortages and rationing (and that all of the European/Canadian systems they worship conclusively prove this).
If conservative politicians don’t jump on this and ride it ’till the wheels fall off, then we are truly on our own in this fight.

I said from the beginning nobody but the hardcore Obama culties were going to watch this infomercial.

Last week or so, their were 2 polls done by newspapers and news channels. In both of the polls only 7% of Americans listed health care reform as a priority. Guess the polls were right.

Although CD 5 in Arizona is majority republican, we have a freshman democratic congressman. In an apparent attempt to build support for Obamacare, he today emailed a “survey”, which was a flagrantly obvious sales job for Obamacare. I expect most other dems are also trying to build support for it.

People don’t want radical changes to health care. They thought they’d be extending health care to people who don’t have it. It’s now morphed into reworking the health system.
Like Tnns said, this isn’t a priority for people. The economy is. The Dems are doing everything but deal with the economy.
I just wish Republican speaking heads would speak out about rationed health care and how Dems aren’t helping the economy. Just seems like they are incapable of getting the point across to people.
I also think that we are starting to see Obama fatigue set in. People are tired of hearing from, tired of his language. They want the economy to be dealt with. And if it doesn’t start improving soon, Dems are really going to feel the heat. They’ll be regretting all the time they spent celebrating their victory and lording it over their detractors. Really, the GOP should be running an ad showing the Dems at the stimulus signing taking pictures of Obama and laughing and smiling, contrasting that to our economic disaster. The Dems have gone wild with power and are off track from a big reason they were elected–the economy.
