Dear The_Livewire,

So long as the gov’t has business in my taxes, freedoms, and rights based on my choice of bedmates, I certainly DO expect action. That’s my opinion on the matter, FWIW.

But your response does not address my questions: why not expect more from your representatives? Why hold to conservative values when it means denying yourself rights and privileges?

Not only that but if Obama decides to tax employer paid health care benefits, unions will be exempt. Is that an underhanded way of promoting unions or what?

I liked the comment of why this stuff is coming so fast and furious. He is trying to ram it through before he loses his support.

Crap-n-Rob, is such a sham. Interesting that he has put the “gays” at the back of the bus. Just saying “Good Morning” to them as they enter the bus seems to be good enough. Then they blindly go to the back seat.

Wow! What a concept. A gay plantation. Quick, redo Gone With the Wind as a gay musical. The scene at the Obama White House cocktail party should be memorable. And all the special loopdy-loop lapel ribbons signifying Democrat gay pride can be a wonderful song as one dejected gay finds true happiness being courted by the plantation overseers. President Obama follows the path with the least effort to get the most power. The ‘Gay Left’ just proved they’re a cheep date.

You want a public option? Fine. Answer me this. If public insurance is so good why are the Fed Employees (including the house and senate) on a private plan? If the government can handle it so well, why is Tricare looking at two private carriers to administer it?

oh, and one more thing. i think someone needs to point out the contradiction here. ash and many other critics (and liberals) are accusing the president of being too “tepid”, too “timid”, and too concerned about getting republicans on board instead of just getting the votes he needs and moving on. however, gpw has been on a crusade lately accusing obama of being the most hyperpartisan president EVER or some batshit crazy statement like that. i’m hoping i don’t need to explain how these sentiments appear to contradict one another.

so let me get this straight, ash…you’re blaming obama for not getting healthcare reform that covers everyone through? so you’re brushing aside the fact that the congress is currently working on this legislation and that the republicans are the ones (and a few democrats) who are vehemently opposed to any public option whatsover? if obama had his way, we would have a public option. the thing is, ash, we have this thing called congress, and we need them to vote on legislation too. we’re not in a dictatorship.

Read his speech at the event, he never uses the word “freedom”.
He uses ‘discrimination’ six.

Phrases like this tell you he sees himself as the gatekeeper to your
natural God given freedom.

“It’s not for me to tell you to be patient”
“We have made progress and we will make more”
“By the time this administration is over, I think you guys will have pretty good feelings about the Obama administration”

I just wish he had the backbone to do something, even something I disagree with. He’s so tepid and timid. There doesn’t seem to be any plan or any agenda. Even if I disagreed with him on healthcare, if he just decided what he wanted and pushed it through, I could at least respect him. He doesn’t even have to push. He’s popular and he has both houses–what does he want? He could end DADT just because he has the power to do it–the military would respect that. But dithering and doddering is not respected by anyone.

#1 Kevin, is that you? Or is there suddenly a 2nd Kevin posing as the first Kevin? I find it ironic that Obama “invited” some gays over to the White House. Reminds me of the times when “white” people invited “Negroes” over to the house so they wouldnt feel like they were racist. However, substantially symbolic accounts for absolutely nothing!!! The learning curve of those in attendance at this “meaningless” gathering must be very, very low.
