Do Palin Haters “Need” to Dismiss this Good Woman’s Qualities
Because They Recognize the Power of her Presence?

One of the reasons many Republicans and conservatives (and a good number of others) have warmed to the outgoing Governor of Alaska is that she has what many of our political leaders have lacked for the past twenty years, a natural charm and presence. She, like the Gipper, captures our attention merely by entering a room.

I was there at the Republican National Convention when she accepted our party’s nomination. As soon as rose to the podium, she commanded our attention; she captivated us. inspired us. We all left the convention, feeling we had witnessed something significant.

I wonder if it was her success in St. Paul which caused so many heads to explode on the left, making so many Democrats and their allies in the MSM so bound and determined to destroy this good woman. Was it that they, just as we did, also felt her power and were moved by her presence, yet, unlike us, found themselves threatened by her lifestyle and political views.  An attractive, happily married, strong and charismatic conservative woman seemd to upset their view of what a successful woman should be.

Palin’s critics obsession with this good woman indicates that they find her as compelling as do her strongest supporters. Perhaps, they choose to define her as a whack job to try to explain away her appeal.  They can’t accept that such a woman might move them.

Just a thought.

  1. here was my thought process on palin:

wait…john mccain is choosing who?…sarah pa…how do you pronounce that? this has got to be a joke…there’s no way. wait, does he really think picking some obscure woman will get all the disgruntled hillary voters? seriously?

after her speech at the convention: good lord. i guess they chose their attack dog. what a mean-spirited, arrogant-sounding woman, even though she clearly didn’t write that and has just spent the last two days working on her delivery. are people really buying this woman? aww what a cute baby. republicans may actually be dumber than i thought.

after the debate: wow. WOW. i know i’ve always lived on the “coasts” but seriously, what type of person falls for this gimmicky, fake folksiness? who finds this appealing? the winks and the “you betchas” and the exaggerated accent are just too much…

after seeing the palin rallies: ok this woman is an f’in asshole. what a divisive, ignorant person to say only some of us live in the “real” america, to constantly push the idea that our now president is a terrorist to all these uneducated rednecks with pitchforks. i wonder if she’s even aware of the environment she’s creating and the potential dangers, or if she only cares about her own advancement.

since the election: watching/reading about sarah palin is like porn. just can’t look way. too entertaining for words. her resigning speech was one of the most incoherent, awkward and mind-baffling string of words i’ve ever encountered. i truly wonder how anyone could watch that and think she has the aptitute to be POTUS. if the republicans nominate her in 2012, it may very well mark the end of that party.

    the end.

I don’t know if she has the qualifications to be a good president. Clearly the current occupant of the White House has shown us that he isn’t capable of doing a very good job of it.

  6. Let’s see… the left has set Sarah Palin’s church on fire with people inside; they’ve called her daughters whores; they’ve said her children should have been aborted; they’ve called her oldest son (who is serving in Iraq) a fag, a junkie, and a vandal; they’ve put out “Retarded Republican Babies for Palin” T-shirts; they’ve said they wished she would get gang-raped by black men; they falsely claimed the FBI was on the verge of arresting her; insinuated that she molested teenaged boys (which is okay when the gay mayor of Portland does it, BTW); released her social security number to the public; hung her in effigy in WeHo …

Nope, no hate. Nothing to see here. Move along.

  7. ND30,
You are a real strange person. Obama has nothing to do with this stuff you constantly obsess about.
She’s just not qualified for nation-wide office! Let’s examine a couple of things:
    1. She’s trying to work a deal with Exxon for the natural gas pipeline. Hello, does anyone remember the Exxon Valdez disaster? The SCOUTUS reduced their penalty for that. Could Sarah think of a Supreme Court case other than Roe v/ Wade that she disagreed with? There is still Exxon oil at the spill site.
    2. She wants to name a successor to the Lt. Governer when the Legislature has already named somebody else. How much $ will it cost if the Legislature has to come into session to work this out?
All you can do is quote stuff that has happend, much of it self-inflicted. It’s nothing personal, she’s UNQUALIFIED.

So, a person who isn’t a complete dumbass would conclude a gas pipeline is much safer than transporting by oil tanker. Not to mention, how are people supposed to heat their homes? Magic unicorn farts, dumbass?

She wants to name a successor to the Lt. Governer when the Legislature has already named somebody else.

So what? Have you noticed the chaos in the NY Legislature? Have you noticed that your Obamassiah has quadrupled the deficit and accomplished nothing? Have you noticed your Obamassiah appointed an admitted tax cheat to be Treasury Secretary and fired an Inspector General in violation of his own ethics law?

All you can do is quote stuff that has happend, much of it self-inflicted.

Ah, just like the defense attorney who defends a rapist by saying “the b-tch was asking for it.” Burning down her church, attacking her children… all these things the left did are all her fault.

  10. By “power of her presence” you mean, I think, her sexual attractiveness. I think that the gay community forces gays to suppress their latent heterosexual urges as much as the straight community suppresses gay urges. We make fun of “gun nuts” or athletes slapping each other or “bromance” or whatever as clearly repressed gayness. When there are a bunch of shaved-head muscle guys shouting epithets at a Pride parade, we assume they are working out their internalized homophobia.

So why can’t gays have internalized heterophobia? Sarah Palin brings out feelings that gays have been told they are not supposed to have. They are not supposed to get a tingly feeling in their leg in the presence of a powerful, attractive woman. So they respond in the way straights respond to Adam Lambert–they accuse her of shrieking, of lack of substance, etc.

Homosexuality is not a complete absence of feelings for the opposite sex. But many gays try to force that myth on themselves to maintain a group identity. I’ve always had some level of attraction to women. I remember those happy days around 8 years old obsessed with Sandy Duncan and Shirley Jones. And I was madly infatuated with my 7th grade English teacher. I feel some of those same things for Sarah Palin. Though my feelings for Todd are a whole lot more tingly.

  20. There might be something to that to some extent. Have you ever read “The Warrior Queens: The Legends and the Lives of the Women Who Have Led Their Nations in War” by Antonia Fraser?

It is sad to note that women in power are cast into extreme categories by others – often without justification. A female warrior is either seen as chaste and holy or profane and voracious, when in truth, many did not fit the extremes attributed to them. Many were rumored to distained feminine pursuits as children and while true to some extent to most of them, there is historical evidence that several of them did also learn the “womanly arts”. No matter how praiseworthy or despised she is, she cannot be considered a normal woman and must therefore be painted with mythology to help the average person accept her existence.

I’m not saying that everyone is doing this. I, myself, think Sarah Palin has a few short comings. But that doesn’t excuse what many people are stooping to. It’s one thing to say, “I really think she needs more experience (or whatever).” It’s another to call her derogatory names and cast dispersions on her character.

But then, I go by the philosphy of “what you hate, you give power to”. I am a centrist with conservative leanings and it sickens me when either side taps into their hate.

Classic projection; the left are the people who smear anyone who disagrees with them as a hater (or a racist, or a homophobe, or a nativist, or some other -ist.)

We on the right tend to reserve “hater” or hate-monger as a term for a person who engages in, defends, excuses or condones attacks on the children of political opponents, church burning, personal destruction as payback for political disagreement, expressing the hope that political opponents die of terrible diseases (as the left wished on Tony Snow and Dick Cheney), encouraging violence against those with whom you diagree politically … and so forth.

  23. *8 Here are some of the things Obama has done so far in his administration. Unfortunately his list of accomplishments is marred due to the lack of action on promises he made to the gay community although some benefits have been made available to same sex partners of certain Federal employees.
    – Got SCHIP passed.
    – Got some reforms on abusive credit card practices.
    – Got the stimulus package passed.
    – Brought Science back into the discussion, and removed limitations on embryonic stem cell research.
    – Got the Lily Ledbetter fair pay act passed.
    – Assistance for families to help them hold onto their homes.
    – Reformed the way weapons systems are acquired by the DOD.
    Hopefully the list will include:
    Rescinding DADT.
    Rescinding DOMA.
    Getting Cap and Trade passed.
Getting Sonia Sottmajor seated on the SCOTUS.
Getting Health Care reform with a meaningful Public Care Option as part of the package.

  26. – Got SCHIP passed.

SCHIP already existed. Obama just removed the requirements that people actually be poor to get on it, and passed a tax that disproportionately affects poor people so that his rich white liberal supporters could have free healthcare.

    – Got some reforms on abusive credit card practices.

Such as requiring people to actually pay their bills, which Obama opposed.

    – Got the stimulus package passed.

Which his own VP admits hasn’t worked and is a failure.

    – Brought Science back into the discussion, and removed limitations on embryonic stem cell research.

Or, put differently, allowed the harvesting of babies for “scientific” purposes, while suppressing any sort of scientific report that was different than the administration’s position on global warming.

    – Got the Lily Ledbetter fair pay act passed.

Appropriately named after a woman who perjured herself and then acted surprised when she lost the case.

    – Assistance for families to help them hold onto their homes.

You mean what Bush had already done?

    – Reformed the way weapons systems are acquired by the DOD.

You mean what Bush had already done?

But of course, NJBigot wouldn’t know that, because, as a liberal, he only knows what Obama tells him, and Obama is a narcissistic liar who has through his entire life claimed credit for work he didn’t do.

He promised American would stop growing and reign in our energy use. I hope the 467,000 newly unemployed during the Obama depression were listening. Odds are another 500,000 -700,000 will lose their jobs in the month of July. Almost 6.9 million continuing unemployed. Not counting those whose unemployment benefits have run out and those who are so discouraged they have stopped looking for work. Executive Leadership has to be the most BS term I’ve ever heard. It’s a PR term that true believers coined as a way to make it sound like she has this huge amount of experience. Didn’t know what the Bush Doctrine was? Thinks there is something called the Department of Law at the white house? Takes money from the state as per diem for living at home? Has now quit 3 positions because they don’t fit with her aspirations? Jeez, she’s almost like an elected Eva Peron (well, not as of July 25th at least). Lord, it’s a good thing that things like the law, the constitution, etc aren’t getting in the way of her agenda.

And I’m just curious, if the MSM has screwed up her ilfe so much, then why did she grant them interviews wearing her waders? hmmmmmmmm. For as much as she claims to hate the MSM, she’ll certainly be happy to get the press reporting on her in the build up to her run for 2012.

Kevin, do you read the things you type before hitting the “submit” button? Sarah Palin has never claimed to “hate” the MSM. What she has said is that when the MSM subjects Republicans running for national office to a dramatically different set of rules than the ones that apply to Democrats, the public is less informed and our democracy suffers as a result. It is irrefutable that the MSM applied a different set of rules to Palin than Obama. Hoardes of reporters with the same pathetic, partisan agenda were dispatched to Alaska to destroy Palin and her family. In contrast, Obama’s family was off limits and any legitimate stories about his background and questionable associates were either ignored or reported in the context of “how underhanded and evil the Republican attacks on Obama are” instead of just reporting the underlying story (i.e. Obama’s close, personal friendship with Bill Ayers). John Edwards enjoyed the same immunity because major news outlets sat on the love-child story for MONTHS. So, there is no question that Palin was treated unfairly by the MSM.

And that brings me to your dim-witted comment–according to you the problem is not that the media engaged in outright character assassination against Palin. Apparently, it was Palin’s fault for granting them access to her when she was engaged in an election campaign for the second highest public office in the land. And furthermore, you’re clearly saying that if Palin decides to run for the Presidency in 2012, she’s a hypocrite if she tries to cultivate media coverage of her candidacy because she should have learned her lesson in the last election. In sum, if Palin doesn’t think she’s been treated fairly by the press, she shouldn’t talk to reporters. Of course, that is PRECISELY the result that the MSM is trying to achieve. Sure, Palin can run for President, but she shouldn’t make the mistake of trying to promote her ideas and candidacy by actually communicating with the press or anything crazy like that. Afterall, the “free press” is really only something that is supposed to help liberals promote and achieve their agenda. Instead of fixing the problem of a complete lack of objectivity in the main stream press, Palin should just run her putative Presidential campaign without any media coverage at all. Wow, Kevin! Problem solved! That sure was easy. Good luck with the campaign, Sarah!

Do you honestly not realize how unbelievably stupid you are?

If you would like some insight on her and the campaign please call me at 207-851-2071 or 207-650-4254 or if you would like to challenge me on this let’s just say I’m more than ready. P.S. Don’t waste your time replying to this..i won’t be seeing it.
