Abortion on demand means exactly that: abortion for any reason (or no reason at all). Myself, I don’t favor a ban on abortion but it is what it is. And I certainly don’t think that anyone should be compelled to perform a medical procedure that violates their ethical code. Do you think a doctor or nurse should be compelled to, say, perform lethal injections even if capital punishment violates their ethical code?

One more thing, Obama is right (so far) to maintain detentions of enemy combatants. The reason for taking prisoners in a war is not to hold them for trial; it’s to remove them from the battle field until the conflict is resolved. Summary execution is the alternative.

I agree that we need two competing parties (ideologies). As it is, we have one. The Democrats favor a fast-track to statism while the GOP wants a slower pace to statism-lite.

Mousavi was never president of Iran, and while definitely targeted by his government he is not under house arrest. Please educate yourself.

And as for Iran, perhaps you’ll then join with me (since you have a problem with house arrest and protestors being killed) in admonishing our president for not more forcefully calling for an actual fair election in Iran and an actual democratic government.

Please don’t embarrass yourself by bringing up Mousavi and the Green Revolution in Iran in an argument about how Obama denies the exceptional nature of America. His outright failure to exercise the moral standing we as the beacon of liberty in this world have as a responsibility to display in this situation specifically is an embarrassment to all of us.

Perhaps someday a president will tour a free Iran and deliver a speech to their democratically-elected parliament apologizing for Obama having sat on the fence when people died for liberty.
