Help Improve The Inevitable Hate Crimes Law;
Stand Up for Gay Gun Rights!

July 20, 2009 by GayPatriot

ACTION ALERT FROM GOProud:

Senators John Thune (R-SD) and David Vitter (R-LA) were successful in negotiating an agreement that will allow the Respecting States Rights Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (Amendment # 1618) to be brought up as an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill.  This vote is expected late today or sometime on Tuesday. Last week, the Senate amended the Defense Authorization bill with the Matthew Shepherd Hate Crimes Prevention Act.

Today, the Senate has the opportunity to do something to actually prevent hate crimes before they happen. Amendment # 1618 will empower individuals to lawfully defend themselves from becoming victims of violent crime. Call your Senators today.  Tell them to support this important legislation. Call (202) 224-3121.

GOProud has been a leader in advocating for this amendment.  Other organizations supporting this legislation include the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Pink Pistols, Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, and Passenger-Cargo Security Group.

We can’t do this alone – we need your help.  First, call your Senators!  Then, click here to make a secure donation to aid this effort.

I’m an absolute supporter of the right to self-defense. I’m absolutely against the notions of gay guns and hate crimes.

I think I’d rather see GOProud taking a moral stand against hate crimes laws as such. “It’s inevitable so let’s ride with it” doesn’t inspire me.

First of all, I apologize for some bad code in this post. It seemed to have caused havoc on the website today. I had to put this post up quickly this morning as I was rushing to the airport for my real (translation: paying) job.

ILC — I appreciate your sentiment, but the push for hate crimes would not have been able to have been stopped with the Democrats in Congress. Therefore, GOProud took a leadership role to push for Conceal/Carry Reciprocity in the legislation.

Log Cabin was nowhere to be found on this issue of Second Amendment rights. And GOProud demonstrated its national importance by working with other groups on this issue including the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Pink Pistols, Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, and Passenger-Cargo Security Group.

This amendment would be a major step forward in helping further secure 2nd Amendment rights — and prove that gays do not want to be victims — and that we can defend ourselves, if our government allows it.

AMAZING ALLIES THUNE AND VITTER. . .

In June 2006, Thune reaffirmed his strong support to amend the United States Constitution to ban same-sex marriage: “The Federal Marriage Amendment debate simply is an opportunity for us to affirm our support for marriage…It is an important debate to have in this country.” wiki

In October 2005, at a Lafayette Parish Republican Executive Committee luncheon, Vitter compared gay marriage to hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which came through the same geographical areas. Vitter said “It’s the crossroads where Katrina meets Rita. I always knew I was against same-sex unions.” wiki

But then there is Vitter and the DC MADAM Palfrey. . .
Vitter incurred significant legal and public relations expenses in his efforts to avoid giving testimony in the Palfrey trial and to respond to the ethics complaint. Consequently, his attorneys sought permission from the Federal Election Commission to use campaign funds to pay for these expenses. The Commission, along partisan lines, couldn’t agree whether funds could be used for reimbursing costs related to the Palfrey trial but did allow them to pay for expenses connected to the Ethics Committee complaint.

    WOW such allies.

Yeah. We need more allies like the liberals who pat you on the head telling you what a good little fag you are, take your money and then pass the most anti-gay laws they can come up with.

    What a turd.

They added the death penalty and HRC objects!

How hilarious, HRC wants more, time, more money, for these horrible murderous crimes, occurring every day, terrorizing gay America….

But the death penalty? No way! Politically correct punishment for a politically incorrect crime.

Gays with guns don´t get bashed. When I ws living in LA I used to meet with other members of Pink Pistols on third sundays at Angeles Forrest shooting range. It is fun to get out and do some target shooting.

I have the difference between a hate crime and survival and it’s cocked and loaded in my right hand.

“Friend of Dorothy” — that’s a new one on me. (Not that Missy was one, but the phrase itself.)

Knew what you meant, but had to look up the origin.

I think I’ll use that from now on.
